Turbo Failure in '07 X-Trail! Nissan Customer service? EDIT: Now resolved.

Just checking if anyone has a Contact number AND/OR email address for Nissan Customer Service in India.

There is nothing on their website or anywhere else.

I need to contact them for a replacement Turbo on my 2007 X-trail

Mods: please excuse if this the wrong section, I could'nt find a relevant section.

The dealer in Bangalore claims there is no 'customer service' number for Nissan India which sounds very fishy.

A vane is chipped on the inlet side of the impeller which is a freak occurance. The only damage i've seen previously on a turbo is the vane blades melting on the ends, chipping of the impeller is unheard of. Turbo's don't ever fail. Some turbo's which are used in vehicles that have done over 2.5 lakh are reused again in different vehicles and work fine.

I have 75k on the odometer, the part is out of warranty. But, since turbo failure is a freak occurance, I wanted to get in touch with Nissan to see what best can be done. The dealer here is quoting 98,000 for the turbo assembly which can be bought in the UK for 500 pound sterling.

I'm hoping I can get some 'goodwill', that will happen only if I have a contact in Nissan India!!

Thanks a bunch Sidindica and Leadfoot.

I've shaken them up a bit, I think I might get the Turbo on goodwill warranty.

Cheers!

Ouch!

If you want, I have another friend in B'lore with an X-trail and he has a source for OE parts from Mumbai.

i have seen failures like that- the vane breaking. it is possible if the turbo oversped.
i would like to know if it is a fixed geometry or variable geometry.
please check a few parameters like air filter status and leakages in intake system.
though, it seems you have opened the intake pipe so it will be difficult to state whether there were any intake leaks. if you can post some pics, it would be of great help.
you can see this link: http://www.whatcar.com/car-reviews/u...eviews/23655-3
a few users have stated that nissan turbo failures are a common issue.
dont know how common it is though.

regards

The dealer returned the car today with a brand new turbo free of cost including labour, extended 'goodwill' warranty apparently. They were pretty helpful.

Thanks for the tip Mpower, i'm glad I did'nt need to use it though.

skydiver: I get 10 kmpl when driven with a light foot

Nitrogary: That's news to me. I'll check out that link.

Goodwill exchange is that a company in order to keep its customers satisfied and happy, replace the faulty part (if it is not a periodically replaceable part) at their own cost. For a company like Nissan brand image is more important than a Rs.1 lakh turbo and also the customer may consider a Nissan as his next car again.

Good to hear Nissan did it under Goodwill Warranty, And with some manufacturers like Tata, Fiat and Skoda one needs to fight, scream and threaten to make them honour a valid warranty(And some times drag them to court).
