Bangalore : Please suggest a Good Workshop to repair A/C

Friends,
I am located at Bangalore.
My Opel Astra has developed a peculiar problem in its A/C module. Every 3-4 months the A/C gas goes empty and I need to refill the Gas to get the A/C working. This is not only expensive but also a bit troublesome as the effectiveness of A/C starts detoriorating after 2 months of refill and gradually reduces. There is some leak somewhere and I need to track it down. For this I want to consult a really good mechanic. I do not want a hit and trial approach to fixing this and unfortunately a lot of those guys do it that way.
Please suggest where I can take my car within Bangalore for this kind of a repair job.

Pani, Did you check with Aditya Car A/C? There are located in Jayanagar and Kormangala. They are good.

Aditya car a/c

+1 to Adi and starter.

I had a problem with my Santro a/c during long drives, similar to this post. Visit to Hyundai A.S.S did not fix it.

Went to Aditya car a/c in Koramangala and they cleaned the intake filter/pipe (under dash board) and topped up the gas. Cost 1200/-
Did a trip to chikmagalur last weekend and found it to be working as good as new!

Note to MODS: Pls consider moving this thread to Directory, if possible?

Re: Bangalore : Please suggest a Good Workshop to repair A/C

My 1999 Zen Vx's a/c belt broke down last year after making a lot of noise on a trip. When I tried putting back the a/c belt at MASS after the trip, there was a slight noise coming from that part of engine.

MASS guys weren't sure about it and as usual gave the standard suggestion of replacing the enter a/c system for 25k, and thus I didn't take the risk & asked them not to put the a/c belt. I ran without the a/c belt(and thus without a/c) for a year now.

With the summer approaching, I tought of getting this repaired.

I took my car to Aditya Car a/c at Kormangala, they opened the hood and by means of touching & inspecting the a/c (without opening anything else) have told that the compressor has gone bad and needs to be changed. They quoted ~10k for changing the compressor (compressor + labor) and have assured that the compressor would be Subros original.

I have 2 questions on which I seek your recommendations:
a) Does a new & original Subros compressor (for older versions of Zen) come this cheap?
b) Is the employed method (inspecting by running hands over the a/c system) of diagnosis (that the compressor needs to be changed) sounds ok?

Any suggestions/recommendations?

Thanks in advance.

Re: AC servicing in Bangalore

Hey guys,
A beat in our family has an AC problem. It cools and all very well, but is leaking under the dashboard. Basically, hot water drip down into the foot well near the clutch pedal. This problem has been there for a long time now and several attempts by the Chevrolet servicing people has not yielded any results. The foam under the carpet of the car is soaked.

Need advice as to what it could be or any ac specialist in Bangalore that you know of.

Thank you!!

I went to this place last year when the a/c in my esteem conked off. Turned out that the condensor had a leak so we got it replaced (MGA product).

The staff was very efficient and they checked for leaks, issues in plumbing if any and plugged the leaks. Gas was charged and the a/c was working very well. It took no more than a day for them to install the new condensor and plug a leak or two and deliver the car back to us with a perfectly working a/c unit.

Re: Bangalore : Please suggest a Good Workshop to repair A/C

Had taken my Ikon to Aditya Car AC; the outlet in Koramangala. To cut the long story short, AC wasnt effective in my car and I took it to a place in Jayanagr 4th t block couple of weeks ago. Name of the shop was - Dr.Car AC.

The day before yesterday AC wouldnt blow cold air, Gas must have leaked. Took a visit to Aditya car AC in Koramangala and he diagnosed the problem to be a faulty cooling coil and gave me a quote of 6000 rs, which includes replacing the coil, filling up gas+labour. Is this price ok? I can also source the coil from JC road and get it fitted at a local mechanic. How much would the cooling coil cost?

Probing further on the cost he said he can reduce a couple of hundreds since am from Team-bhp.

Hi Pani, were you able to get the problem rectified at Adithya?

Recently, as part of my bad luck in automobiles this year,I ran my Optra over some rocks and punctured the condensor.I called Adithya, koramangala and they said they could replace it for 6.5k.After I went to their works, they quoted a higher price(2X) saying that its a Magnum (diesel).

I don't want to doubt them, but does anyone know the technical explanation (if any) about why the diesel optra's AC condensor would be double the price of a petrol one's?

I'm planning to visit Mr Thobias's place over the weekend for another quote. Will update soon.

Visted Mr Thobiases workshop yesterday. He also said that the diesels condensor is different, because of the shape.but since his contacts didn't have any condensor ready for another 10 days,I didn't wait. So called adithya again and they had the condensor ready.Got it fitted in 3 hours.for 12k.

Re: Bangalore : Please suggest a Good Workshop to repair A/C

My friend in Bangalore has a 2008 Fabia 1.2 lt petrol model run 41000km, whose AC has gone kaput. He's checked with
1. TAFE who said condenser needs replacement - cost approx INR 18000 plus any other parts and labor
2. local mechanic who said coil plus condenser and compressor overhaul - cost approx INR 15000
3. Aditya AC Jayanagar Bangalore who have said it could cost up to INR 30000 depending on what parts need replacement.

My friend is very confused given the wide diagnosis and quotes. Can someone throw light on typical costs to expect and which would be the best place to get the AC fixed?

Re: Bangalore : Please suggest a Good Workshop to repair A/C

Once i was in Madhu's tyre centre and met someone with a 160k Laura. He had replaced the a/c compressor at an A/C centre on the inner Ring Road near the petrol bunk, i.e a little ahead of the Marks and spencer buidling.

Replacing the condensor means removing the dashboard. my cousin's Laura is facing the same problem, he has decided to sell the car instead.
