@PramodKumar-
I had no idea about jhandewalllan, thanku so much for letting me in on this.I'll be making a trip there asap.
I have a contact in Kashmere gate, I get all the baleno's parts from thr only, shocks etc. I must admit, I didn't really want to do this again but for such an important part I suppose this would be an easy option. If it doesn't work out then i'll go to Jama.
I'm really hoping Jhandewallan is able to find a solution to my problem.

@techn0- I'm quite sure, as i've said earlier that Maruti sold me a car with a defect,we maintain our cars very well and don't drive them in a harsh manner either. Apart from this the baleno, even after covering more than a lakh kilometers is in great shape.
Anyway, back to the point, Maruti's done this enough times already, it's a waste of time and money. Since you too are of the opinion that there are experts around who can fix this i'll be going looking for them

Anyone recommends a mechanic ?
Ps- Any specialist who deals with removing rattles ?

Go to D B Gupta road and ask for door walas, they specialize in rattel removal, but this would not be a permanant fix, this would definitly improve things. Best solution would be to get the door pads damped. The door guy would charge you anything below 500, but make sure you get a quote before he pulls things appart and also set clear expectations. The damping would cost you somewhere 3k but worth it.

Pramod

thanks again, you'll be getting loads of ths it seems.
cya

heading over to jhanewallah tomorrow, more like figuring out how much it'll cost and which shop to get it done from. any leads?
I'd be immensely grateful.

While you are there, can you also enquire about solution to the PS oil leakage in the Ford Ikon Flair ? :)

what would you like me to ask them?
anything in specific?

The over all cost should be less than 2k for repairs, Do mention your exact problem, they give you garantee on the repairs, do not mention the cost incured so far o9r you will be fleeced, Also get the price fixed before them opening it.

update
went first to jhandewallah, two mechanics of different shops said that they get steering leaks fixed from a shop in dariyaganj,"famous sardarji opposite the jail"
the trip there(to dariya) yielded in meeting pretty knowledgeable people. they said they do the work with a guarantee. approximately 3000 is what they demanded, approx because the exact price could be derived only after opening the steering. that was today's research. any opinions?

another problem's cropped up,my car seems to be overheating with the ac on,the temperature needle drops the moment the ac is switched off. this happens both on petrol and cng. also, the ac doesn't cool. this problem doesn't occur always. stupid question-does the ac fan in the bonnet pull air in or blow it out. sorry,i'm dumb.

The AC fan might be gone or it coud be the normal radiator fan as well, to isolate you have to tell me if the car heats at standstill with the AC on, If it does the AC fan is gone price close to 3k, and if you run like that your gas would be gone, price of recharge 1k. The fan in my car pull air in. I guess this whould be your case as well.

Pramod

the ac fan is working,i mean visually it is spinning. got it repaired sometime back.

I'll check if it heats at standstill as well though I'm quite sure it doesn't.
it also only heats up when it's hot outside.
at night,everything's alright.

If both the fans are working you might want to flush your cooling system and refill colant, some times the radiator is chocked and ends up in similar problems. BTW AC fans are not supposed to be repaired, i dont know how you did this, this is a sealed unit and can only be replaced. I had to replace mine in my esteem.

Pramod

Unfortunately,i wasn't present when this work was carried out. I remember being told it was a short or something, and it cost around 700 my driver claims so couldn't have been a replacement. anyway,it's working.
and I just checked,no heating up on standstill.
today however,it heated up everytime, about 5 mins after I switched the ac on.

shall follow your suggestion about the coolant.

If it fixes the heating issue great, If you have any cooling issues take the car to cooltec, near khalsa college, ask them to service your AC, they charged me 1000 RS 4 years back might be 1500, but definitly worth it. The AC immediately becomes 10 time effective.

@sukrit- I have faced a similar steering rack oil leak problem in my OHC, Honda said that according to policy they do not repair this problem and they can only replace the steering rack which costs about 16 k + labor, I faced this problem for a couple of years now and kept on topping the oil once in 2-3 months. I finally went to my local mechanic and he fixed the problem for me and has given me a guarantee that if the oil starts leaking again he will do the job free of cost. The total damage was about 2.5k but I am not sure what other parts he has changed except the oil seals. GTO also faced a similar issue with his VTEC and got it repaired from a local garage.

If you want peace of mind then I suggest you get the steering rack replaced from Maruti and since the steering rack for OHC costs 16K I am guessing the rack for the Baleno should be costing somewhere around that as well
