Re: Euro NCAP Ratings of cars sold in India

Vento being 3 box version of Polo, can it be said that Vento will have same NCAP rating as the Polo?

Is the Linea derived from Punto- body shell, platform etc? If yes, can it be said that Linea will achieve same safety rating as Punto?

I guess the Vento would be getting a notch better than the Polo as it is better built, same applies for the Linea.

I would not use 'same' here in comparison but 'similar' would be better sounding.

Re: Euro NCAP Ratings of cars sold in India

We have confirmation from Volkswagen that their cars are identical:

"A Volkswagen spokesperson said its cars made in India at its Chakan facility are “identical in build quality” and structural integrity parameters in comparison to cars rolling out of its other facilities across the world."

http://www.financialexpress.com/news...body/1302270/2

Hence, if we accept this statement. we can conclude that at least Volkswagen cars models made at Chakan would do equally well in crash tests apart from the possible lack of side and curtain airbags and ESP.

If you compare Polo and Vento on a one to one, definitely Polo is better built. Vento is a stretched derivative of Polo engineered in Russia/India whereas Polo is totally German derived. Just feel the boot doors of the two cars and the difference is visible. Vento too has been tested for NCAP IIRC and has passed in flying colours but Polo is better.

As for Punto, there is difference in structure between European version and South American/Indian ones, I don't know whether both have been tested for NCAP. Linea is Punto South American platform developed in Turkey.

European Suzuki Celerio scores 3* in Euro NCAP

The European Suzuki Celerio was crash-tested and has scored a meagre 3 stars out of a possible 5.
