Help Required on retrieving my Wagon R stuck with my service center with 4 dead rats

Hi all

Last weekend we noticed that there was a bad smell inside our car, which got unbearable when A/C was switched on.

We called Indus our dealer from who arranged for a pick up from our place.

It is almost a week, since then, & they are yet to deliver our car back to us.

We had to call up several times, to find out what was going on.

we were told that there were four dead rats in the A/C compartment.

The said they would clean it up & also charge us 1200 Rs for refilling A/C gas.

We agreed, & it has been 4 days since then.

They say. that they are unable to make the smell go away.

Please help.

Firstly never deal with A.S.S centers over the phone. Go and sit on their head.
That the only way to ensure relatively better and satisfactory work.
Yes the smell is tough to remove, but not impossible once they get all the bodies out.

Had a rat removed from my Swift a couple of years ago. It was not in the AC system, so the dreadful smell was outside, not inside, the car. I have a lot of sympathy for the guys who had to take stuff apart and remove the very decayed remains, it must have been a revolting job.

I agree you need to deal face to face: go and talk to them about what problems they are facing, and what they are doing about it. One way is to just replace parts until it is all gone, but that could prove expensive for you.

Very true, you will have to go to the A.S.S by person. Also the smell is not impossible to remove, it is possible but difficult.

Yes sit on their head tell them to do this infront if you:
1. Take out all seats
2. Take out carpet
3. Dashboard
4. AC blower

And inspect all these for dead mouse and clean and refix, it would be good idea to get the blower cleaned and interiors wiped (where mouse was found) with some anti-septic liquid like dettol then with clean water.

All this work should not take more than 3 hours

Cleaning something like that is dreadful.

They will have a real good reason why they are taking 4 or more days.

A simple visit to the A.S.C will resolve all your queries.

The smell will not go for a good 2 months in your case.

Is it an option to :

1. Clean the affected parts. Take them out, if they are plastic- then soak them in diesel or similar liquid till the smell is removed.
2. Replace any filters.
3. Any other part in the a/c system that cannot be cleaned, replace them
4. If the smell still doesnt go away, set up a temporary piping to route the air from the a/c system directly outside the car. You will have to live without the a/c till then.

The gas will have to be recharged. There's not much you can do about that part.
