Guys my car is up for its 3rd service at 22500kms. Now i've been using Shell Synthetic Oil in the previous services, and now i'm thinkin abt switching to Mobil1. So would that make any difference or should i stick to Shell itself.

And is the air filter replaced for the 3rd service(Octavia)?? Cuz then i can get a K&N filter too ;)

If u're switching oil brands, dont forget to use engine oil flush.

2nd, If u're planning to go in for a K&N filter, try using PJSPEED's Ractive filters which cost just 900 bucks for a filter, for the same performance. I'm planning to use those after these heavy rains and floods in chennai.

nitrous bro

do u need to flush the engine even if we change brands? arent they both syenthetic??

also could you give more details abt these ractive filters? and r they good for wet climates?

aadix,

I dont have detailed info about the flush but since its a skoda octavia, its better not to take a risk. I think the experts will accept my statement.

About the Ractive filters, PJSPEED has 3 models of conical filters.
I dont know if they're good for wet climates. So, if u're going in for these during this rainy season, i suggest u get the "K&N PRECHARGERS" which just fit onto the filters like a protective cover for preventing damage from very dusty and rainy environments.

Why would you want to change first of all? I am using Shell synthetic oil (Helix Ultra) too. Its pretty good.

I just thought Mobil1 would be better :D. And abt the filter, anyone got more details abt PJ's filters?? Or should i stick to the good ol' K&N

I second that!..
I think Mobil1 is too expensive (atleast in Bangalore) for the same stuff..

Stick to shell Helix Ultra.

Ask PJ to courier the filter to u. It'll work out lesser than a 1000 bucks including courier charges. Its definitely worth trying if u're thinking about it.

For the oil, I switched from Mobile 1 to Motul 8100 and there is a noticable difference. Will not consider any other oil for my Octi from now on. Although I know a lot of people using Shell synthetic and they are happy with it as well. I also know of an Octi that has run 85,000km's on mineral oil, and it's still going as good as new.

The main thing is to ensure your oil is kept clean and levels are maintained.

As far as the filter goes, I'm using a Pipercross foam replacement panel. Suits my purpose and seems to work very well with the Pete's Powerbox.

Where can we source Pipercross filters, Rtech?? Any distributors in india??

No idea about official distributors, but I got mine from Ashdeen (SDT).
