My W124 won't Idle

I have a '96 model Merc 124- E220 which is in very good condition. Recently, the without any provocation, the car stopped idling. Acceleration is good and the car starts without any problem with the accelerator depressed. But the moment you lift the leg off the acclerator the engine stops. Any suggestion on this problem.

EDIT: have you taken it to the garage and checked the sensors etc?

I think you need to get the air and fuel filters checked/replaced. If it still persists, the engine is in for a thorough check.

Like I just told someone else...check, clean and/or replace the ICV.

I'm not in a position to take it to a competent garage as there's none within a hundred KM radius. The car was recently serviced and filters and plugs renewed. Does ICV stand for Idle Control Valve ? Where is this ICV located in the engine bay. Maybe I can inspect the same. At the moment I've adjusted the idling speed with the throttle control lever. This is not the solution as the engine tends to raise when the aircon cuts out.
