Will surely explore them. But are these costing really required for new cars?

after researching about it a bit, I am a bit sceptical now.

Generally it's not required atleast for the first couple of years but it's better to get it done early to prevent future rust.
Plus Mumbai is coastal so chances of rusting are a bit higher and if you are like me and live right on the seaside and have open parking, it's even higher.

I would say get it done after a year. Enjoy the new car smell !!:Cheering:
Maybe get it done before the second monsoon

So do we have a verdict on underbody coating? From this forum I see most are saying it's not worth it unless you are in a coastal area. I'm taking delivery of a Sonet soon in Goa. Being a coastal area and having already seen small rust spots on my older car I am wondering if some kind of paint protection is also needed. I would like to assume that modern cars have enough protection but you know what they say about assuming!

Yes. Also, don't think its of any value to do it immediately in new car, when the paint is fresh. Maybe you can consider after few years of ownership, when the underbody paint may have chipped off due to regular wear and tear.

Hello everyone, even though the topic was highly discussed, I am reposing the question on the necessity of underbody (anti-rust) coating for a new car. I have booked Mahindra XUV 3XO AX5L, and expecting delivery in a few weeks. The accessories guy at the showroom has said that a VAS package, which includes internal panel protection, underbody coating, engine coating, and Teflon coating, is essential for every new car. This VAS package alone costs Rs. 9000.

I have enclosed the quote shared by him for various accessories in the image. As per him, the underbody coating prevents rusting from scratches by small stones on bad roads. I stay in Bangalore, where part of my travel involves bad roads and wet roads (during rains). While underbody coating does make some sense to me, I am unsure of other coatings in the VAS package. I would like to get the opinion of fellow Bhpians on the requirements of this VAS package for a new car. Also, off-topic, what accessories are recommended for the 3XO. I read that official seat covers are tested for airbags.

PS: This will be my first car and also my first post on team-bhp.

Hi, I forgot to attach the image containing the cost of XUV 3XO accessories, and it seems the edit window is closed. Hence, attaching the image is a new post.
