What about the existing rust? Do they remove all underbody rust and then do the treatment?

These are preventive treatments. They may remove existing rust as a favour to you. Also, ideally after removal the surface should be passivated (Phosphoric Acid) and coated with primer before treatment. The treatments are best done on a brand new car.

I got the 3M under body treatment (5yr warranty) on my Aveo for 4000 including taxes.
I think it does some road noise reduction as well.

You are right! they are best done on a brand new car preferable before taking delivery. There have been cases where the coating has started to peel off when done on cars that are a few months old.

Alto LXI under body is getting rusted

I own an ALTO LXI 2005 and bought it second hand couple of years back and lately been observing that it's underbody is corroding faster. My only worry is if some of the supporting stuffs underneath gets weaker and might lead to problems. Also for change of wheels, nowadays i cant fix my jack on the support underneath my door, it is coming of in chips. Does anyone how can i avoid further deterioration.

well, you need to get your underbody fixed first. I suggest you take it to MASS and ask if the chipped portol can be welded first. Once that is done, you can do in for the 3M anti rust coating.

If MASS quotes exorbitant prices! then chuck it and get your self a good local mechanic who can help for welding or correcting the rusted parts first.

Guys, I have booked a Black Ritz Zxi. The accessories guy at the dealership is recommending Teflon coating and Underbody anti-rust treatment. The teflon coating is from Dupont worth 4000/- and underbody treatment is worth 4500/- (forgot to ask about brand). As I have booked a new car, he has offered a 10% discount (after tax) and 2000/- flat discount on total bill.

Please suggest if I should go for it or not. I have read here that teflon coating is not required, but underbody treatment is good for the car in long run.

Hi Gandhi, I think that you can go for the underbody treatment, as even I had gone for that for my i10 from the dealer. I had paid around 2300/- after discount. Teflon is not required.

Do you remember the brand of underbody treatment you got for your i10? What is the warranty period?

Both Teflon coating and underboady treatment are not mandatory as Bangalore is not as corrosive as Chennai or Mumbai for underboady treatment. Teflon coating is totally a con job of the authoised Service center. Not required at all. All maruti cars come with clear coat paint which is similar to teflon coating.

Thanks. That's where I had read that teflon coating is not required. Still not decided on the underbody treatment.
