Fiesta: need advice on fixing deep scratches

Hello,

I drive my car with so much care, but this had to happen. Enough rant already happened on why our cellars have pillars in all odd & unexpected places, so I'll spare you guys on that

Can you please advice on what's the best way to go about repairing the deep scratches?

1) Bumper: this one is an eyesore and badly needs to be repaired. I don't think any denting is required. Should I go for half/full bumper painting or is there a simpler way?

2) Taillight: If replacing the dome is expensive, I'll probably live with it.

3) The 3rd panel (don't know what it's called): I'd like to get this repaired too, since there is a long hairline scratche too (can be seen in the image). I'd like to know if a part of the panel can be painted.

4) Do you recommend any particular body shop in Hyd? I was thinking of going to the Ford service center itself in Sanath Nagar, unless there are other places who do a better job.

Thanks a lot!

Re: Fiesta: need advice on fixing deep scratches

check the TBHP directory for Hyderabad paint specialist.

which tailgate are you talking about. ?? Its just the rear fender and bumper.

If the damage is just what is shown in the image above. Its just a Rs.1200 job atmost. Tail cluster has minimum damage, you can rub it with any polish and it will go away.

Thanks SirAlec. I checked http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/hydera...hyderabad.html and I'm there tomorrow morning the first thing. I got denting/painting done for my previous car in authorized service center, which used to cost a lot. These paint specialists seem much more economical.

Here is my experience for the benefit of Hyd people.

The paint job is excellent. They took roughly 8 hours for delivery, which I think is a good turnaround time.

I paid 4.5K for painting the entire bumper & fender. Mr. Prabhu was not open to reducing this and I had no time to compare cost at other places. Any guestimate how much this would cost me in a Ford service center?

Mr. Prabhu was professional and fine to deal with, although a more pleasant interaction with customers will go a long way.

PS. Sorry, couldn't attach pics for some reason, my browser is timing out. Will try again later.

Managed to upload the pics:

Although the paint job looks good, the cost of onthe higher side. There was not need to paint the whole bumper for these.

What's the general approach in these cases? Painting the quarter/half area or just paint the area affected as a patch? I thought painting part of the panel will show the difference, whatever little it is.

Thanks

Dark metallic paints does show a noticeable shade difference if partly painted. Though in this case, I guess painting above the strip on the bumper should have done the job.

Not very visible in the original pictures, but there were similar scratches below the strip too.

You could have saved on the bumper costs by painting the quarter of it than full.

Re: Fiesta: need advice on fixing deep scratches

I paid Rs 2500 for painting my front bumper in a FNG. You seem to have paid more, but I heard Prabhu has a good paint setup.

OK. If the difference shows after painting the quarter, can something be done? May be some buffing (not sure if that's the right word) to make it look uniform with rest of the panel?

What I paid was for for both bumper & the fender, which has almost equal area to paint. I guess we are on par then.
