Can someone tell me what should i get it done in first service ? My
first Service is due in next month an i am noticing all the little-
major issue with my car. I need your advice on -

* As they do engine oil change, which brand is the best. Putting some
other good brand which TATA use will enhance the performace & make it
more silent ?

* Need to clean air-filter ? When we should replate air-filter and
how much it cost ?

* Do i need to go for Tire Alignment or rotation ?

* How to stop door/glass rattleing ? Will they take care of this in
first service ?

* I want to make gear shift more smooth. It is now but still 5th gear
is very hard.

* I want to change the stock bulb 55/60 with higher one 100/90. Will
this affect my warranty ? As i have to put one relay for it. Is it
advisable to put that much power bulb ? I hope it wont affect the
reflector.

* Earlier when i switch on the AC, i used to feel 50% drop in power.
Now, its not like that...just 10-20%. Will it gone after first
service ?

* I want to put parking sensor on it. Which one will be good ? I dont
wana to pay more then 5000 rs.

* I want to buy Car body cover also, as it catches dust like
anything. Which one wil be good ?

1. Stick to the normal castrol which they put in for now. Go for synthetic after 15000km
2. Air filter cleaning is done every 10000kms. with normal running you shouldn't need to replace atleast till 40000kms
3. Dont let them do alignment/balancing etc., Tell explicitely you dont want it to be done. Go to a good tyre shop and get it done every 7000-10000kms. Workshop will charge triple and do a bad job
4. Tell them it rattles. It all depends on your luck wether they will be able to stop it ratteling. I guess your rear glass is rattling. this is a problem in most indigo's but is fixed easily provided they can find out that its the rear glass which rattles
5. Complain about gear shift, make noise. this sorts out gear shift issues
6. You already have a relay, so go for the 100/90W bulb. Most tata workshops agree to fit in relay(I got mine from concorde. Replacing the bulb wont affect your warranty
7. Performance/FE will improve significantly after first service
8. You get good parking sensors for 3000-4000rs, scout in accessories shops.

Thanks TSK! I knew it that first response will be from you :-). Could you please suggest me for good Car body cover ? I went to accessories shop and saw few one. Some comes with side chain to open drivers door. They are UV & rain proof etc. Which one is the best know brand ? I got the range of rs. 450 from TATA dealer & 1200 from shop.

No idea about car covers. I parked in a covered parking so never used one. If you do some google search you will find lots of tips on car covers. I guess even a team-bhp search for car cover will get you lots of results. Since its a one time investment dont bother too much about a few hundred rupees and get the best one. A lockable one is an added bonus if you park in insecure places

One thing about body covers... There are two prime varieties. One is a heavy cloth material type thing while another is a lighter, almost plasticky type thing. However cost wise the heavier one comes cheaper. Do not by this variety though. It gets wet in rain and gets heavy. Then taking it off becomes a tough job. Also the heavier one can leave scratch marks on the body after a few days.

1.castrol is a good brand and most of tata service stations use it.
2.the service station guys will do it, dont worry.
3.i dont trust tata service station with alignment and balancing i get them from a trusted tyre dealer.
4.yes, get the rattling fixed in the service.
5.dont go in for 100/90 bulb as it will fade your beam(mine's are faded because of it),go in for a reputed manufacturer's bulb(55/60w)like ge,philips,osram etc.

its good to see u so concerned abt your car i am sure u treat it like a new born baby....

dont worry just take down all the probs on a piece of paper and make sure that the service centre records all the probs mentioned by u on the job card so that u can always be sure of it being taken care......always get ur car serviced in time check the schedule in the service manual plus

and abt the tyre rotation and stuff it depends on d handling of ur car usually its done around 10000k/m.

Are you sure they do oil change at 1st service though?
GSX is petrol right? well for my petrol Indica there was no oil change at 5k....Oil changes etc will be at 10k (2nd service), should be same for Indigo i would have thought since they are basically the same engines.

nitrous / Zappo - I didn't find this with nearby car shops. I bought silvertech for rs. 850/- Its lighweight and silver color. It got UV protection and theft deterent feature also. I was concernd abt the dust over my car and cover is working fine with that.

I have written all the problems in a sheet. The music system wires was creating lotsa noise i tied them and now there are less noise in the cabin.

let me see how good they are in the service dept. They have very professional env and system to deal and so far i have good experience with them.

I don't quite understand what you mean by fading of beam. Could you kindly elaborate?

Hi All,

I have completed SIx month with indigo GSX and completed only aprrox. 4500 Kmpl. Max avg i achieved with IOC xtra mile is 12.1 kmpl. In these days i am using Speed & getting 10-11 kmpl.

Well, these are the issues which i reported while giving my vehicle for 1 service -

• Tyre alignment need to be done, tyre goes left if I remove my hand from steering.
  -- They said, they do it every 5K so did it. I got the report but dont know to check it.
• Rear Seat lock need to be fix, it makes noises when ppl sit on it.
  - Fixed
• Rattles & squeaks from front doors and dashboard panels. Glass on windows also makes noise. Speakers make noise when radio is on.
  -- Not fixed 100%. Speaker wires still make noise on bumpy roads. Speaker make chirp chirp noise on radio.
• A/C makes noise/Grunt on switching on. Sometime this voice goes off, sometimes….
  -- Voice is low now, acceptable
• Gear is very hard on 1,2 & R one. Many times 5th gear didn’t go and noise comes, need to be rectify on priority.
  -- Now gear is not smooth for 3 & 4 th also except Reverse.
• When I switch on AC, there is a power lag? WHY?
  -- Power is fine now.
• Light Alignment need to be done. Light is not appropriate for Highway Driving. Which bulb will be good & approved ?
  -- Same as earlier, Not Fixed
• Front Seat Carpet area is uneven.
  -- Not fixed upto 100%
• Front Leather Seat is coming out from bottom. Need to be fix on priority.
  Not Fixed
• Breaks need to be tightened. Handbrake need to be tightened, on slope it doesn’t work. On Priority
  -- Fixed
• A/C smells when I switch on AC and then switch it off and keep the blower on only.
  -- Fixed
• Minda lock – If glass is open when I lock the car, will it roll down automatically ? What is the provision for that ?
  -- NOT Possible, feature is not applicable
• Kenwood feature – Telemute is off.
  -- NOT Possible, feature is not applicable

Apart from this, they have top up the coolent and break fluid. They didn't change the engine Oil nor asked to me. After reading many mails on Indica Group i checked manual and it says that to change on 10000 km.

Also, Engineer told me to expect increase in milage after oil change only. Is it true ? I think i should get more milage after first service.

I got few small scratch & 1 big dent on my car both side. The insurance ppl told me that i can claim for one side only. 50% i will get from the insurance. When i asked for quotation they charged like anything. Is their any body shop in pune where i can go for this repair ? I think a touch-up spray will do job for me. [/FONT]

Huh! hmm... On the other hand I was pretty ok with the service quality of Tata in Hyderabad. Also, I got some dents fixed... two left side doors, an extended scratch to C-Pillar, Bumpers...

Estimate wo Ins was 6k... With ins they made a bill of 8k+ and i needed to pay only 1.5k after 500rs rebate. Fantastic job done... Can not tell where the gashes were!

Hmmm long list of issues though....I didnt have so many, maybe I am not as picky or detailed when it comes to that :-)

Thats the one with the oil change as I said, should be same for both IndiCa/Go
