About two years back I started using Turbojet in my '98 Safari and initially found a smoothness in the engine sound and an increase in pick-up. Must have been psychological. What I funnily observed that the smoke emission increased. I attributed that to the decarbonising effect as touted by HP website. But this emission remained constant even after 6 weeks and that set me alarming.

In the meanwhile I heard from quite a few dieselers that it is not good to use fuel with additives. In those 6 weeks I had tried Xtramile too with same results and High Speed from BP was not yet introduced.

After about 8 weeks, I switched back to regular diesel. At the very first tankful I observed a change - no smoke at all. I continued filling the regular diesel and got the same results. I've stuck with regular diesel till date with both my vehicles and no complaints either.

One interesting find - I tanked up my 2004 Honda Accord VTE 3.0 with Power and after 10 kms it started sputtering and the engine sounded as if it was missing. Spoke to Honda guys who strictly advised against fuel with additives. I listened to them and am happy.

This is due to the carbon deposits on the walls, which is 'washed' by the additives in the premium fuels. So, in a new engine, there may not be a perceptible difference, but for the 40k+ engines, initially it would give big difference, until the carbon deposits are cleaned off(only to a certain level)

You can try using 1.5ml/ltr pure acetone on one tankful and that will perform the same cleansing effect on the carbon.

hey guys, does using Premium Diesel rather than Regular Diesel is good for Ford Fiesta. If Premium ones are to be preferred plz. state which one to go with.

Though regular diesel is the best, there is one method to find out. Tank up with regular diesel and run till the tank is empty. In the menwhile observe your driving habis and conditions, FE and any other unusual happenings.

Now tank up with either Turbojet or Xtramile and repeat this exercise. It shall give you a fair idea..

Turbojet does increase the "smoke" effect. I was using Xtramile and didn't have any smoke issues, two fills of Turbojet & the truck started smoking real hard. Switched back to Xtramile and its almost gone again - what remains will probably go once the catalytic convertor is cleaned.

But there is definitely an issue with Turbojet.

harsha, please go through the thread that discusses the difference and simply use "regular" diesel. Premium diesel has been proved ( on this thread) that it causes more harm than good.

Till date have been using regular diesel and pretty happy with it

Most of the time it is the feeling that we get ,that the noise has reduced or mileage has improved with these additive fuels. But the best of all is the normal fuel.
The most important thing about fuel, is that it has to be filled from a proper fuel station which is well maintained.

Fuel adultration is the main problem that we all have to be very careful. Water, diesel, and ethanol in fuel are the concerns.

The additive fuel may give a short term benefit but in the long run they are harmful to engines.............filter chocking , injector blocking and heavy smoke with bore wear are the problem encountered.

However if anyone is able to continously fill a particular fuel without mixing will be better. Problem with additive fuel increases once the fuel is mixed with brands.

So it is always better to go for the normal fuel, but from a good reputed fuel station.

I must admit that I had fallen hook line and sinker for the premium diesel scam, I have been using nothing but premium diesel on my accent CRDI, now done 65000km. I hadnt even bothered to test out regular fuel and whether the premium fuel was actually helping me. Performance so far has been satisfactory, but its difficult to say as I have never even tried the reg fuel.

I can definitely say however that I can see clouds of black smoke in the rear view mirror when i'm accelerating (rpm ranging 2000-3000) i never rev over 3500 anyway in the CRDI

time to shift to regular diesel. atleast for the swift coming to me on monday( i cant stop bragging about this:D)

Good to know that. I am the opposite since i got my viva crdi, i never used premium fuel but only regular fuel and i am pretty happy with it and dont intent to even try and i dont have any smoke issue as of date:D . I clocked 15K till date!

I filled my Safari Dicor with "premium" diesel and immediately, there was an increase in teh engine vibrations and clatter. A swich to regular diesel dramatically solved this.
waiting for Shell diesel to be available more freely in hyd.

I always use System D + Regular Diesel instead of premium diesel brands taking care to follow the instructions mentioned on the bottle (1lm System G/l of fuel). Have been doing so since the early days of my car (Indica V2) and it has always run smooth and has given me great mileage. Somehow never have felt confident enough that the petrol pump guys might fool people by dishing out regular fuel at the price of premium fuel!

i have used Xtra-mile in my Safari dicor and the results were

-- no change in FE
-- increased Black Smoke

After advice from the TASS guys, switched back to regular diesel and sometimes add the System D in it.

and Smoke problem has almost vanished,FE seems to be same in both cases

so regular diesel seems to do the trick in Safari dicors.

And to think that during the introductory stage, HP used a Safari to showcase the virtue of its Turbojet...!!

that was bad on HP's part for sure.

but the beast looked gr8 with those horns lol:

guys,
i have seen what they do to make a regular diesel in to an extra-super-jet diesel etc. They just pour a bucket of additives while they load/pump the diesel in to the tankers. And according to my friend who is associated with refinery says these additives are supplied to all the companies(IOC,HP,BPC) by one company. So they are all mixing (just pouring) the same additives, brand differently, advertise with dhoni or sachin or narain and is cheating us.He said it costs just 10 paise per litre and hence the heavy advertisement!!!
