Folks, as fiesta price is out, I'm zeroed on Verna, I have almost finalized 1.6 CRDI model. I have one doubt though, what is

1. Driver Information Display, and
2. Supervision Cluster

1.6 CRDI does have DID but not SC. So my question is run-time FE and distance to empty are shown in DID or SC? Because the sales executive mentioned those features aren't available in CRDI (base).

Congrats on the decision. Verna does make sense compared to the Fiesta's pricing. But, did you check Vento TDi? Vento is the best diesel car in the C segment. Also, I think Vento delivery time has come down too. Verna's rear seat is a deal breaker for many, so check it out once before finanlizing.

Hey Ajay thanks for your suggestion, personally I would have loved Vento to make my car just for that FTD factor. However, I couldn't convince myself to put my money on VW. On the other hand, rear seat is not that a big problem for me, as me (5.7) is the tallest in my family. By the way I'm thinking of pad up rear seat a little for under thigh support, which I think should be easy.

Supervision Cluster is you normal cluster of indicators which comes in the Instrument Cluster like fuel level, water temp and other warning lights etc

Driver Information Display is a system which displays information on driving under actual conditions and covers

1. Trip A
2. Trip B
3. Distance to Empty
4. Average Fuel Consumption
5. Instant Fuel Consumption
6. Average Speed
7. Elapsed Time
8. Outside Temperature, if equipped
9. ECO ON/OFF, if equipped. This feature tells you to change gears in order to get better mileage

Actually not required if two adults are sitting in the rear. I have done two long drives in the car with people in the rear. In one drive I sat in the rear to experience it. I am 5' 11''. If only two adults are sitting frankly you can adjust yourself to a comfortable position. Of the 5 different people who have sat in the rear at different times during these two drives, no one has complained of lack of under thigh support. I guess this will be a problem if there are 3 adults in the rear where you are forced to sit straight.

Thanks KPS, it's pretty clear now. The SE kind of fooled me here! (but I would give him benefit of doubt, assuming he himself wasn't aware of this). instant and average fuel consumption and distance to empty are quite important for me (especially DTE).

So 1.6 CRDI it is!


Thanks again and good to know that. Padding up indeed not on a high priority. Let's see how my family finds it.

For me sitting in the rear had three issues:
1. Physical (lack of under thigh support) - which was not too good, but not something one could not live with.
2. Visual - It did feel very cramped (even with me being 6') with high seats in front and the rather narrow window at the rear.
3. Ride at higher speeds (80-90+)

My thoughts are based on the TD I took (report on the Driven! thread). Other's opinions and experiences may vary, of course.

If you can live without gizmos, make sure you TD the Magnum diesel. It was a revelation for me.

Can't disagree with your observations. about Maggie, I fell in love when I TDed it on open roads. The power boost really pushes one hard in its seat. But the second TD which I took in bumper to bumper traffic, the lag and the sudden boost was pain for me, not to forget frequent gear changes. If I lived outskirts and daily commute was primarily on highway, it would have been the Maggie. Period.

For city driving I found, Verna more comfortable with it's linear turbo boost. Verna was quite zippy as well. Also it was pretty light on foot. Perhaps Verna has got the lightest clutch in all diesel cars in the segment.

OT on this thread, but a pre-worshiped (not just pre-owned) Magnum for me and new i10 for my better half, would have been perfect recipe for me. :D
However I couldn't find a single owner to sell its worshiped possession.

I love driver's cars too. But I couldn't get myself to buy the Fiesta diesel with 90Bhp. I figured I'd buy the Verna 1.6 CRDi and upgrade the tyres to 205. I decided this even before the prices for the Fiesta were released, now I feel good about my purchase.:D

For the city and with mainly the front two seats being used, the Verna diesel is a fine choice. Very petrol like.

OT: There have been varied reports on Magnum TD's and turbo lag. My experience was repeatedly good. Try out another example for a TD?

Took my ANHV purple 1.6 CRDi delivery yesterday. Will post pics and other details very soon.

Congratulations Shenoytech on your ANHV purple 1.6 CRDi (which variant is it?). I guess this would be the first purple fluidic on TBHP. Awaiting eagerly for the pics. Also let us know how long was your waiting period. Any freebies/accessories?

Went for a TD yesterday. I felt the brakes lack a bit of bite. The SR said its the ABS functioning, I doubt if ABS kicks in every time you brake. The cabin is nice and feels roomy,except for the fact that it is all beige. And there is no other interior colour option:Frustrati.

Hi Sachin. ABS is not like the turbo. It is available all time in fact its a type of break. Only difference is one must press fully unlike pumping in regular breaks.
