The Key to Happiness-Sunshine Yellow Nano LX comes home.

Why Nano-Well,because its a Nano(No other cars were considered),we didnt really need another car,but Dad has always had a thing for Curvy cars, and he had liked the Nano in yellow, eversince it was launched, other contender was the VW Beetle, but it was out of budget,so here she is,going to share the space with Accent and Scorpio in the garage.

The Purchase-It was spontaneous.
She was home within 24hrs of decision of purchase.

The Deal-It is no lakhtakiya car anymore-2 lakhtakiya would be more appropriate.
Ex-Showroom price-2.02L
Discount-9500.
Insurance-5000
Freebies-Mudflaps,footmats,Side decals.
Registration\Road tax-Another 5-8K.(approximately-as we will be getting this done on our own in a weeks time).
So on road came to be~2L.

The Car-Moment,you step into it,what surprises is the space, its amazing, front and rear legroom, seems more than my Accent
Plastic quality is decent for what you get for the price,i am not complaining.
Ergonomics are ok,but the placement of power windows switches is a huge disaster on Tata's part, and i used to think, that Scorpio's power windows switch placement is bad.Operating them, will give your tummy a nice workout.
The cabin has a Airy feel to it,something that is absent in an Alto or a M800 which feel claustrophobic.

Features-I am not complaining here, for 2L OTR,you get HVAC,Front power windows,Front and Rear Fog lights.Lifestyle product like a Thar, doesnt have an AC even, the only thing missing is a Power steering, after getting used to PS vehicles, the steering feels a bit hard, and cars feels a bit difficult manouvre, may be i will get used to it,but after driving the Nano,PS steerings of my other vehicles feel like Joysticks.

Initial Driving review-The Motor-On Paper there is nothing to write about the 624CC 35PS twin cylinder motor, though it does a decent job,and the Nano never feels underpowered in city even with AC.Havent taken it on highway so cant comment.the only grudge,i have that it gets toooo boomy under hard acceleration, though noise levels are acceptable at city commuting speeds.
The gearshift feels nice and clunky, though i need to get used to the clutch,as i managed to stall it two times in traffic.
Got tank filled, and it took 900 bucks worth of fuel, that is equivalent to what my Zma takes in.
Have just 50kms on Odo as of now,and i really loving it for now,she is too nimble, and the Ac does a perfect job even in harsh north indian summers.
I really want to take her uphills and see how she fares.
As of now,I am planning to add ICE and aftermarket alloys to it.
Will keep updating.
here are a few pics i clicked quickly from cellphone.

Congrats!!!
Welcome to the Sunshine Yellow Nano Club!

The car indeed looks great. Nice to know that you're liking the car. And the decals look good too ! Wishing you many more happy miles ahead.

Are planning put in any other accessories?

Thanks.
As of plan to add, alloys, tints and ICE.
I just had a brief, run with the car,as i had to rush to work.
I was unable to turn on the foglamps???
One thing i would have loved to have is direct access to engine.
I keep an eye on engine oil and coolant levels after 3-4 days, and no access to engine,is one thing i hate.

Congrats Akshay!

Would be closely following this thread of yours, I too am looking for a Nano (preferably a second hand one) to replace my M-800.

Would be really interested in knowing how the AC performs in our typical North Indian summers as that is the primary reason I am contemplating replacing the M-800.

Cheers!

Regards,
Jaspreet Singh

CONGRATULATIONS!! So how does it feel to drive the head turner!

The fogs will turn on only when you turn on the parking lights.
You will be surprised by the intensity of fogs, really good.

Looking forward to your updates on the accesories that you fit.

Thanks.
Jaspreet, till now,i have found the AC to be pretty effective.
inspite,of large glass area,it cools the cabin pretty quickly.
And slighlty offtopic, where did you vanish after attending one offline meet?

The moment we rolled out of the showroom,i started noticing stares from people, especially PYT's
Infact my bro,who was sitting besides, said, why are they staring, are we driving an Audi R8????

Congrats akshay! It looks very good in yellow, and with the mods you have lined up, am sure its only gonna improve!

About the cost, is this the highest variant? How much does the base variant cost?

Re: The Key to Happiness-Sunshine Yellow Nano LX comes home.

Congrats akshay - that is one cute yellow nano, and the side decals do match the car. This is one of the best matching decals I have seen from showroom - suits the character of the car very well.

I am sure the car will look better with the planned mods - with a matching tint and alloys, this can easily become a looker

OT: Any one noticed the decals on new Ace? looks pretty nice and eye pleasing to me.

Re: The Key to Happiness-Sunshine Yellow Nano LX comes home.

Nice buy. I love the yellow one and hope to buy one for the city drive one day. Wider tyres make it look better from rear.

And surprisingly these things do keep up with traffic in highway and accelerate ok than the old Alto too I guess. And space! it wins here.

Would it take ICE without any alternator issue and stuff?

Doesn't the JBL nano have alloys? I think we have some pics of Nano's with alloys in here in TBhp itself, but I might be wrong.

Re: The Key to Happiness-Sunshine Yellow Nano LX comes home.

Congratulations!

Its a head turner of a car. There is a red nano with nice alloys in our colony among the spate of Safaris, Scorps, Corollas, Citys and Swifts, but the Nano is the one which my eyes seek out every time I pass through the colony

Hope you & your dad enjoy the ride.

That's nice. Btw, do look at the TATA genuine alloy's. They are very cheap but look good too (to my taste at least). And regarding the ICE, I guess you must have heard about it from many others too. I would suggest you to do it from TATA dealership itself. They do have models of sony, etc stated as TATA approved and as you fit it from a TATA dealer, your warranty will not be void. Or else, especially with the Nano fire incidents plying around, in case of any uneventful happening (I'm sure nothing will ), you might have to face a lot more problems. Though it might cost a bit more, it will be safer I guess.

But do sit along during the installation as you can't be sure about their work either. The only problem is about the warranty getting void!!

And the fog lamps can be switched on only after switching on the park lights.

And yes, it is indeed very annoying as to not being able to constantly check the engine bay. I have never checked the coolant level, but there is no sign of overheating yet. But I guess its high time that I check it.

Cheers!

Re: The Key to Happiness-Sunshine Yellow Nano LX comes home.

congrats on your car, just yesterday i drove nano of my colleague for the first time, surprised by the space inside, the A pillar glass makes it very airy. However i did not like the mid console, it sort of hinders proper visibility for my height and also the steering is very small and thin. But it is fun to drive and zips pretty fast ,very easy to park and making u turn was fun and above all the admiration you get on the road is
