Edit : 5 month update

5 MONTH UPDATE:

Today the New Fiesta completes 5 months in my possession. A very quick update :

- Mileage covered : 6845 Kms.
- Recent fuel efficiency figures - 18.22 kmpl (city driving)
- Black interiors show up dust very quickly, especially if your shoes are even slightly muddy.
- Voice Control feature is actually useful, as I mentioned earlier. Changing tracks on the CD is just a voice command away :
You say : Track
VC says : Track number please
You say : 10
VC says : Track 10
Your chosen audio plays. Simple.
- Adjustable seats are really comfortable
- I miss presence of lights in the glove compartment. There is not even a single teeny weeny bulb
- The single reverse light provides very little illumination while reversing in dark areas
- At traffic signals, the blue tooth picks up signals from surrounding mobile phones of other motorists. However, till access code to Ford Audio is not entered, no one can connect in. But this does cause some disturbance in sound quality.
- Cruise control is a useful feature even on the expressways
- The Ford logos at the front and back are fixed better than they were in my Ikon and Fiesta. They can't be pulled off easily.
- No rattles or squeaks from anywhere so far.
- The handling continues to be impressive.

In a nut shell, I am quite happy with the on road performance of the new Fiesta.

Thanks for the update Sugeeta!. The FE figures are very impressive!

I might have missed it, but, how is the back seat comfort? Have you done something to the rear seats head rest?. If not, how does it feel? I'm curious to know.

Thanks dhanushs, the FE is one of the main reasons I like this range of diesel cars.

The back seat is not too comfortable for tall people on account of the rear headrests. They are positioned in a way that the head tends to tilt forward and results in straining the neck. Removing them may be a solution for longer journeys.

Thanks for the update, Sugeeta.

- FE is very impressive!
- I thought beige (which I have on the VVS) was difficult!
- How easy to you find, to use voice control for MP3 files?
- What I remember of the seats, the angle of the pan of the seat also changed with the height adjustment. Not sure I checked it enough. Is it possible to change the angle of the pan and the height independently?
- How bad is the disturbance due to BT? Any loud crackles, or is it noticeable only if one is focused? Do you get it even when a phone is not paired and you are only listening to music? (Am considering a change of HU in my case).

Removal of "headrests" and Safety
The purpose of the "headrests" is more for safety. If someone hits the car from the back, the head tends to snap back, potentially damaging the neck and probably even the windpipe. Any removal of "headrests", front or back, should be well considered.

first off - Congratulations on your lovely new car.

Extremely extremely well written review.

It was more of a intriguing novel - that an automobile review.

The thrill of actually driving a new car - was present in the review as well !
It made for an extremely engrossing read.

It is on such loyal fans that brands & reputations survive.

Looking forward to a long term ownership review as well.

Congratulations!
Happy Driving!

- The FE is good so far, though the FM staff tells me it will improve more after 8-9K Kms.
- VC is effective for MP3 files. I mainly use it to choose the track number. My daughter is more in tune with its usage.
- You are right about the seat adjustment. However, there does not seem to be any way around it. I have to adjust the height as well as the angle of the backrest together
- The BT connectivity is smooth and there is no disturbance or crackle. I use it paired with 2 phones - a BB for official calls as well as to listen music on a Samsung S II at the same time.

I am not personally in favour of removing the backrests for safety reasons, as mentioned by you. They are there for a purpose.

Thanks Dr. Suraj. I will be posting the updates as and when time permits.

I see that you are a homeopath - a system of medicine I have never ever used, but would like to, keeping in mind how effective it is for so many people and that too with minimal side effects.

Wow - it supports TWO bluetooth devices at the same time?
That is amazing.
My Manza supports 5 - but only ONE at a time. (& I carry 3 phones so becomes a bit of a problem).

Well Ma'am,
Thank you for your kind words.
The noble & gentle, art & science of Homoeopathy is always eager to help another soul - human or otherwise. (w.r.t Ms. Temptation).

Yes, it is worth trying once - with an open mind & an iota of patience - not only for its 'no side effects' clause, but more so for its Individualistic & Holistic approach.

Happy Driving !

I shall look forward to the updates.

Re: Ms. Temptation's Victim - My New Ford Fiesta Sedan (Diesel)

Today is indeed a great day for me.

Hubby dear has endorsed the fact that the new Fiesta is indeed a good package in its segment, and a better one than the old Fiesta.

Good choice!! was his verdict finally.

He had been quite skeptical about this one, especially considering its pricing back then. However, this car has proved its mettle in 2 chief areas he considers paramount :
- Fuel Efficiency
- Handling

The 3rd one, viz., maintenance will be now the area of contention. I am keeping my fingers crossed.

Good to see that the fiesta is serving you well. Fuel cost of Rs. 1.44 / km is simply awesome for a car of this size.

Hahahah. The joke's on me. The place looks so much like the side alley at Harpreet's. Maybe after my umpteen trips there, all Ford dealerships look alike.

We are planning a family road trip during the summer vacations this year in the Fiesta; scouting for some refreshing new places we can take the car to see how it takes on the highways.

Re: Ms. Temptation's Victim - My New Ford Fiesta Sedan (Diesel)

I believe the fiesta will love the highways and you'll love the fiesta in return due to good road grip and handling.

OT, but it seems i am in love with bright colored fiestas. The Blue color of aseem's car and the red showcased in the DCT Fiesta's drive on Budh Circuit have become an eye candy for me.
