Re: Knight Rider: Black Vento TDI HL

Guys, Please bear with snaps. I'm not a Pro in photography. The bug had just bit me. Many of the pics were shot by my cousin.

Re: Knight Rider: Black Vento TDI HL

These are Fuel efficiency figures that were observed during my city drives. FE is less during day time. It also depends on traffic conditions. BTW my odo is 1500kms now.

Re: Knight Rider: Black Vento TDI HL

@Ramsagar.. First of all a big congratulations on your Black Vento. It looks awesome.

Last week I test drove the Vento and I must say, the power surge is very addictive. The best part of the Vento is the accelerator pedal. Just tap it and the beauty responds immediately.

Few questions:

1) Are deliveries are really improving or did you get your Vento because somebody else cancelled theirs?? Or was it because of the colour??
2) I took the TD at Elite Motors on Hosur road. They mentioned that there is a mandatory waiting period of 3 months. Is it true?

Regards,
Anant

Nice review. I agree to almost all points.

Glaring omissions - Pictures.
The highlighted one in the RED rectangular boxes in the pic are missing with chrome finish.
There should be a soft leather compound around the steering wheel. Even that goes missing. But the same material exist on the gear knob & Hand brake. Refer the pics. you get to know the difference. Guess VW had forgot to remove that.

Yes, the deliveries had improved and also color plays a major role. White takes longer time.

I had long term relation with VW Downtown and earlier we had purchased Jetta from the same guys.

Re: Knight Rider: Black Vento TDI HL

@Ramsagar,

Thanks for the clarifications and the shower of snaps. The ones with the car in rain were very nice.

The car-to my taste looks very serious. The black colour, the interiors-they all radiate gravity and to my liking, not refreshing. I found the Vento in blue to quench my thirst more. Of course this is just my view and even my present state of mind.No offense or smothering the enthusiasm

But nevertheless-she oozes class and quality and of course a few more features and fine tunings would have been great.

Enjoy your ownership. Please keep sharing your experiences and views.

Re: Knight Rider: Black Vento TDI HL

@Ramsagar : Huge congrats on your night rider! The car just looks delicious in black! Thanks for the nice review and gorgeous pics. ( BTW..I always wanted a black Vento , but my folks put their foot down and got a white since we already have a black Baleno..)

Anyway, after some miles the car will get even snappier and smoother. It is really fun to drive on the highways and the mileage, too, will put a smile on your face!

Next time you go the service station, make sure to check with them and get the latest software update installed. That makes a noticeable difference in the noise and vibrations. Also take the usual precautions of maintain the correct air pressure (many Vento owners drive at < = 32 psi - which is too low IMO), and idling the engine for a little bit before switching off etc..

Wish you miles and miles of happy driving! And keep us updated!

Re: Knight Rider: Black Vento TDI HL

@Ramsagar: Congratulations Dude. You've certainly got yourself a head turner.

Just a query - You mentioned that the car does not have central locking from inside but from the pics you posted I see on the slope below the OVRM adjusting knob. Pardon me if I have mistaken it for something else

Also I notice a strange cavity like structure on the steering wheel (I've seen it on the Polo as well) What exactly is it used for?

Re: Knight Rider: Black Vento TDI HL

Ramsagar, Did you ask the dealer about the missing chrome and leather wrapping for steering wheel? I am surprised to see this.
VW has recently increased the price of Vento and the least I was expecting is they strip it down further after price increase.

VW site still mentions these features - http://www.volkswagen.co.in/en/model..._overview.html. OK, Just double checked it again, they have listed in under Petrol Highline. But, I was thinking Petrol and Diesel have identical features.

Are we missing something here?

Door still opens when we lock from inside. This happens while travelling as well.

I'm also little confused about power windows that operates though locked.

@windsurfer: There is no point in asking the dealers, they just blame VW. Yes, all the chrome finish comes in Petrol HL

Thank you. I've bought the vehicle only for the pleasure it gives when driven. That's awesome.
I'm also waiting for my warranty to get over, so that I can switch-over to Bosch service center.

Re: Knight Rider: Black Vento TDI HL

Sure the omission of chrome on steering and rotary switch is indespicable but it does not look as bad as I thought.

Ventos in black deserve a spoiler. Do you have any plans for installing one.
Maybe I am a bowled away by thee looks of the Peted Vento.

Re: Knight Rider: Black Vento TDI HL

Ramsagar congrats on the Knight Rider- really excellent pics and review.

Feel really bad looking at the plain black inserts instead of chrome. Apparently that was not for cost-cutting as widely suspected on the forums but because those parts were not available. I hear they wll be back as soon as the supplies resume.

Leather wrap on the steering is a thing of the past, sadly- that's the effect of localisation apparently!
