Hello guys!!
Over the last few months i've been nothing short of obsessed, pre-occupied and addicted to 'retrofitting'. I sometimes curse myself for buying such a technologically advanced car that leaves you with a mouth-watering galaxy full of retrofitting options. And no im not talking about any after-market stuff that IMO destroys the beauty and the originality of the car. I'm talkin about all OE products installed using original wiring diagrams and installation instructions!
A few months back i posted some pics and details of my multifunction steering with paddles, Bolero and the bluetooth kit. My list of mods didnt end there and here's what i've added to this beautiful piece of machinery!

1) Auto-lights (with activated coming home and leaving home lights)
2) Tyre pressure monitoring system with the original reset button
3) Cruise control system
4) Original front parking sensors with graphic display
5) And finally, the MAXIDOT instrument cluster

These are all original skoda parts bought from a seller in Czech. Installation was done in the skoda service center. Credit has to go the service manager who was knowledgeable and immensely helpful.

The pics are quite poor and i promise to post some better quality ones soon.

MODERATORS- Could you edit my title? Would be nice if you could add "nearing destination l&k" at the end.

Good to see all the changes done, I have all the changes in my Yeti except the TPMS button, I have the TPMS activated but need to reset it via software, thought of adding the switch but it calls for wiring from switch to ABS module and this need to be done separately, you get the original wired but it can't be bundled into the exiting wiring harness, this is the only sore point and that can come in between warranty, I hope you have discussed this with Skoda service center and have taken care off!

Why buy a L&K Laura when you can make one at home !! That is exactly what you have achieved sir. Wow. Im amazed at the kind of work you have put into the car and that too without cutting wires and messing with the electronics.
It would be interesting to know the final cost of your car vs the price of a new L&K from Skoda.

vinj14,

I am in the market for a new car and vRS is one of the serious contenders. While having a TD i inquired about fixing front parking sensors. They said hardware is not there and cannot be done. vRS comes with the same BOLERO system which you have.Could you please elaborate on how you got the front parking sensors fixed and integrated to the display.

Thanks in advance, MB

Its quite complicated. And you will certainly lose your warranty if the service centers aren't willing to do it for you.
Here's what it involves.
1) Changing the parking sensor module located at the boot
2) Routing the wires from the boot to the front bumper via the passenger side of the car.
3) Installing the buzzer in the passenger side b pillar
4) DRILLING THE CORRECT SIZE holes in your bumper! (This is the toughest part, a small mistake and you'll end up losing your vrs bumper!) And skoda doesnt have a readymade drill bit size as the bumpers come with parking holes already in them. There are markings on the back of the bumper to tell you the exact hole location and diameter but its still very very difficult to pull this one off! A friend of mine who also attmpted this lost his bumper and had to order a L&k bumper (which comes with the holes)! I was just lucky to find a guy with a pedantic attention to details!
5) Installing the parking sensor button in the dash (which would require a wiring diagram and has to be installed by someone from skoda).
6) Finally , coding with vcds

Its a good mod for sure but make sure the you have the 100% backing from your skoda service center before you proceed.

That's quite a bit of work and risk involved and I don't think I have the patience to pull this off. I was thinking its just a plug and play kind of stuff by adding the sensors and parking button in the dash stupid:.

This is the most important part, and you have got it right. Mods on such expensive cars without full and proper ASC support is foolhardy unless one has the funds to fritter away.

Please accept my heart felt congrats on your successful mods. How much has your car clocked thus far, what has been its average FE and, have you faced any GC issues?

How much has your car run & could you provide the service costs for each interval?

Some stunning OEM mods on your car! clap: And it's truly wonderful to see it getting done well. Between some suggestions, if you could take a pic of these modules before installation, that will be nice. We could understand how do these modules look and then kind of visualize how these get incorporated.

Thanks. I get between 10-11 kmpl in the city ( in very bad traffic conditions with the ac on full blast) and around 15- 18 in the highways!! Quite decent for a 2.0L 140hp beast! I havent faced any GC issues, probably because i drive on pretty decent roads and only rarely have more than 2 in my car.

Thanks. Sorry but i didnt take any pics of the modules and the wiring kits before installation. But you can definitely find them on the internet.
My car has run 7500kms in 7 months. So still a while to go before my first service!

Vinj. Are you sure that the Laura elegance develops 140bhp? I thought it was 110bhp.

Yes Shankar, all DSG versions of the Laura belt out 140BHP. It is only the manual version that is de tuned at 110 BHP.

I have to say the amount of time and effort vinj14 has put into these mods is considerable.
The finish of all the mods are OEM and would even put some tuners to shame.

Enjoy your ride doc, she sure is special and one of a kind.

The finish is OEM because they are OEM :p

Remarkable mods on the car vinj14. Your perseverance, general appetite for risk and patience are exemplary. Take a bow buddy!

While on the subject, would you mind telling us how you went about getting and installing the maxidot? That seems like a real mouth-watering prospect for, and totally worth a shot on my vRS. You know get her inching closer to the L&K.
