Re: Polo 1.6 : My Grey Hound!

speed_kills & volkman, you guys seem to be persistent about the mods. Good going. I'll keep a close watch to see waht ideas I can steal. In case you haven't considered it yet, I just placed an order for a beige armrest for the Fabia with TAFE andexpecting delivery in about 2 weeks. Will post the pic as soon as I have it.

One thing you could do is get you're hands on the Monte Carlo edition fogs & headlamps.
It'd look absolutely KILLER on you're Fabia

Check this baby out from the house of Pete's

Keep us posted about the armrest.

But going by that article in that link, I believe "Polo 1.6" will be the only variant to get this upgrade (if any).

There might be many concerns on this, of which two I can think of right away :

1 - Polo 1.6 is an enthusiast version and only "Few" people like volkman10 & Speed_Kills, who could care less about FE and thrive on PE(Performance Edition) will buy.

"DOES THIS WARRANT AN AUTO-TRANNY" ??

2 - With "Projected FE" at 10kmpl and Petrol Price revving high every month, would people even consider a Polo 1.6 AT ?? I am pretty sure even a enthusiast can extract more Kmpl on MT than that.

Isn't the I20 AT offered as a variant? I see this is the same strategy that VW would adopt. The regular Polo 1.6 (with upgrades) would be be still available as standard ( giving 19+ FE )

Moreso it would be the Vento AT powertrain borrowed for the Polo.

Cheers!

Re: Polo 1.6 : My Grey Hound!

Posting pics of a recent addition.

The 1.6 now looks a tad more aggressive thanks to the addition of the Carbon Fiber wrap from 3M.

You'll also get to see the company she hangs out with Hopefully she ain't outta place

Speed, your Polo looks awesome. The grey shade really suits the Polo.
I have a few queries:
I guess you are on 16 inchers. What tyres are you using? Size and brand?

How much did you get the GTI grill for? The vagtune.in is charging around 12K

About the lamps? Is the bulb below the indicator also a DRL or its a parking light?

Thanks

Thanks Robi!

1. Yes, these are 16's. I use Kenda Komet SPT-1 (205/55R16)
2. The highlighted portion of the headlamp is a parking light. I use a Philips Ultinon LED bulb.
3. The genuine GTI grille should be about 12k-14k.

Looking forward to seeing you're 1.2 TSI soon

This car looks fabulous. I really loved the 3m carbon fiber bit. Can you tell me couple of things?

1. Does this 3m carbon come in variety of colours? I'm planning for the roof top in passion pink colour if possible
2. How is the ride quality with 16" ? And how much did the rims cost you?

Thanks Frontosa!

1. Yes, 3M's vinyl wrap is available in various colors. As far as I can remember, they have Carbon Fiber finish in Black, Silver, Grey & Matte finish in the same colors.
I highly doubt the availability of Pink from 3M.
But worry not, guys like D.A.D, Motormind & J&J Motorwerks should be able to get you any color you fancy at a pretty reasonable price.

2. The ride quality after the up size is almost similar to the stock setup.
These rims should set you back 37k for a set of four.

Please tell me you've booked the TSI

Re: Polo 1.6 : My Grey Hound!

I love the transition your Polo has been through, speed kills. The wheels look hot and subtle touches like the honeycomb grille and carbon fiber trim look fantabulous. Certainly one of the most tasteful Polos around!

I do have a few questions though.

What's the ride like on 16" wheels and 55 profile tyres? I'm sure that the grip levels have improved, but what about ride? And does the wheel-well have any problem accommodating the upsized wheels / tyres? What's the effect on the steering?
