Re: Welcomed into the family of Das Auto - VW Polo1.6

Congrats !!

Thats one car I am in love with truly, madly, deeply. The day i took a TD of Polo 1.6, my perceptions changed a lot. IMHO, Vento looked like a illogical option to me compared to Polo 1.6 due to the difference of 2 lakhs in price and almost no difference technically. Yes, Vento has few more features such as ACC, much bigger boot, etc., but those are not really critical.

Black is my favorite colour on the Polo and has the best shine too. But White is also great and easier to maintain than the darker shades.

Please keep updating the thread regularly and please, upload lots of pics.

Congrats once again. Drive Safe and Enjoy!

Cheers.

Re: Welcomed into the family of Das Auto - VW Polo1.6

Congrats on your latest German acquisition volkman10.

I never really liked Polo when it was initially launched but slowly, this sober looking car has grown on me. The last pic you have posted is very very similar to one of my pics and the parking position.

If Punto is a drool, Polo is a dynamite. Hits you hard, for good or for bad !!! LOL

Thanks. understand the upgrade will void the warranty.
Would await a bit more and check with the dealer.

Re: Welcomed into the family of Das Auto - VW Polo1.6

volkman,

Congrats on getting what is perhaps the most complete car needed for India, Not only is it a good looking hatch but I believe it's one of the finest cars come out in modern times, in fact I think its one of the finest works of Walter de'Silva, who also has penned cars like the Audi R8 and a lot others in the VAG group, so gorgeous is this car that on a recent small car purchase I almost was sad i did not get it but then perhaps some other time,

It's flawless, and do keep updating this post so some of us can keep waiting for it to arrive!

Many many happy miles with the car,

Regards,

Congrats for the VW. It certainly looks the best in white. Any FE updates?
OT: The Zen looks immaculately maintained. How old is it, BTW?

Thanks . Not looking into FE now, but show an avg of 10km/l in city driving.

The ever reliable Zen is the last of the 2000 built carb. model.

Cheers!

Re: Welcomed into the family of Das Auto - VW Polo1.6

congrats for the car, going by the thread title i remembered a very funny incident related to DAS AUTO,
one day one of my uncle told me that VW dealership in lucknow has become global (the dealer owner name ends with DAS) he told me in every visual add, VW is saying DAS AUTO and he was sure of it,
i laughed to my full throttle and when i told him that DAS AUTO stands for THE CAR, he was speechless

Suggest you to not track the FE before the first service. Once the first service done go for a long drive and then estimate the FE. I hope you are not revving the engine too hard during the run in period.

How much did the Kagu mats cost you? Also are you not tempted for replacing the HU with the Witson HU's?

I try to limit the rev to 2500 during the 1000 km break in period.

The black Kagu mat 'Max Spider' ( doesn't move around) costed me 4.7k.
HU replacement would be done, but at a later date.

Cheers,

Dude, just one question. Did you look at the sister, Fabia 1.6 before finalizing the Polo 1.6? I think that Fabia has everything that the Polo has plus more in terms of interior space, boot and even better build quality. Fabia, though, scores less on looks(I like both personally), Skoda's A.S.S. experiences(not sure if its still the same as it used to be) and few other minor things.

EDIT: I think when you bought your Polo, the then Fabia was a stripped down version and had lots of important features missing, such as rear defogger, rear wiper+washer, etc.

Fabia was never in the radar as i know of owners regretting the decision because of the Skoda's Service experience!

Hoping the VW would be better in this department( not bad so far as written byowners here) have taken the chance!

Cheers!

Re: Welcomed into the family of Das Auto - VW Polo1.6

Any reason you're restricting yourself to 2500 rpm volkman? The manual stipulates not exceeding 2/3rd of max engine speed and not depressing the accelerator fully for the first 1000-1500 km. Since that works out to 4000 rpm (redline at ~6000rpm) I'm driving up to 4000 rpm after letting the engine warm up. My FE has also been consistently above 10kmpl irrespective of traffic conditions.
