re: Living Tmrrw 2Day - Toyota Etios Liva G - SP Vermilion Red - 10,000 kms

Got front windshield sunfilm CR-70 from 3M installed on the Liva last Sunday.

Though have not got the time to test the effectiveness of the sunfilm, I am posting the installation pics for now.

The film being cut

The film being applied from inside

Cost - Rs. 7,750/-

As always the service from the 3M Car Care Center at the HSR layout was

re: Living Tmrrw 2Day - Toyota Etios Liva G - SP Vermilion Red - 10,000 kms

Had a chance to test the CR-70 during the week. I observed that the cabin is remarkably cooler than before.

Now with the TRD racing accessories, let me see what is the most interesting one to suit the car.

Place an order for the seat covers, leather steering wheel wrap and the door pads at Karlsson yesterday. The car will be done up on the 28th of April.

The odo is at 8500 kms. The progress on the odo is very slow due to being stuck with loads of official work and also the work from home option is reducing the opportunities to take car out as well.

As usual nothing to complain with the car. Its performing as expected. Being lazy enough, I will pen down the 10,000 km review after the 10K kms service.

Also there is 20 point check camp happening at the Toyota A.S.S for the Etios and Liva.

Wow, you have got some phenomenal numbers there!

Meanwhile, the seat covers look fabulous and looks like a very professional job. I am planning to get screens on my Blu as well.
I seriously miss the presence of good roads in Trivandrum that can help me to rake these numbers.
I have been getting an average mileage of 13-14 (90% AC on) , with odometer reading at 6200 approx. This includes driving mostly through city and office, that includes short drives. During my longer trips, i have noted a mileage of around 16-17.

I am planning to visit Kanyakumari- Madurai- Rameshwaram in June with the In-Laws, and looking forward to get much better figures (18-20) during the road-trip, since the highways in TN are just fabulous.

Meanwhile,

Krishna, the seats look good. Can you please let me know the cost of these seat covers. I am looking at getting them installed on my SWIFT. I have 2 tiny kids who can make the car extremely messy. So want some material that is easy to clean and maintain. Door trims, steering wheel cover and handbrake is in wishlist. But important is to get the seat covers done ASAP

The PU Leathers seats cost you 11K, Door trims 2K, Steering 2K, Handbrake and Gear Lever cover i think its 2K.

However, do note that door trims, steering, handbrake and gear lever needs to done along with the seat covers else it would cost more.

By the way is Karlsson available in Chennai. You might have to drive down to Bangalore to get this done.

By the way with kids its difficult to keep the car clean :-)

Yes you are right, there is no Karlsson in chennai. I talked to Stanley and found them to be very expensive. I dont want leather seats. I prefer PU/fabric which will be easy to clean and much less expensive. My budget is 10k for everything. Let me see.

re: Living Tmrrw 2Day - Toyota Etios Liva G - SP Vermilion Red - 10,000 kms

Will be heading for a drive next week end and will be adding another 800 odd kms.

Since the car is nearing 10,000 mark have a few questions.

1) Does opting for the Full synthetic oil is adviseable since the engine is run only for 10K kms. The manual does not mention that I need to use mineral oil only or anything as such. However, the oil grade specification have to be met.
2) Do I need to opt for the tyre rotation at the Toyota A.S.S or a better option is available outside.
3) The car runs in quite dusty environment, does it make sense to change the AC filter (the scheduled ac filter replacement is @ 30,000 kms)

A few pointers on these will be helpful.

For regular use I would stick to regular oil that Toyota stocks. Just ensure you replace every 10K. No use using super expensive synthetic on 1.2L engine.

Tyre rotation you can get done. no issues.

AC filter doesnt need to be changed so early. You can get it cleaned instead.

On the engine oil, then let me stick to the mineral oil that Toyota Stocks.

The AC filter was clogged badly at around 7K kms and that's why the concern. The AC filter had completely turned charcoal block. Will have a look again at the 10K kms point and then take a call. I believe the AC filter cost is 130 odd bucks which is quite cheap.

That is cheap. In which case go ahead and change. All the better.

re: Living Tmrrw 2Day - Toyota Etios Liva G - SP Vermilion Red - 10,000 kms

It rained today evening in Bangalore. I was driving in the rain. One observation that I made was, the Wiper sweep is good and covers a large area, but (a big one too) the wiper blade quality is poor.

Now the next question arises. Are there any after market wipers (Bosch ones) which have been released for Etios/Liva. I will pick one up immediately if I find one from Bosch or any other good one.

The stock wiper quality is just crap.

Exactly my thoughts. My Etios wiper blade does not look like it will survive another year. At 16k km i am going to change the wiper blade before the monsoons. Do let me know if you get any info on good viper blades for Etios\Liva.
