Re: Skoda Laura vRS : Test Drive & Review

Thanks Agam, yes I checked it out. It's a Caska headunit. I bought the car with the unit installed already. I know the car comes with a bolero headunit, just wondering if this is better. Also I'm not able to either pair my device or get the reverse cam working. I read about caska on other Lauras here on the forum and they say it works fine. I wonder if the person who installed hasn't done a complete job. Plus the audio settings seem to be too basic on this. Not great audio quality considering the VRS has a 8 speaker Bose surround. Should I try and source out the OE Bolero unit and get it installed ?

PS: how do I get MapmyIndia maps on a SD card?

If you want to switchover from caska to the stock unit, I highly recommend the RCD 330 plus. Screen resolution and touch response will be much better than Caska and the Bolero. It supports rear view camera. However, it doesn't come with navigation. The newer ones come with carplay as well. You just need to get the audio panel (Link).

So the Caska unit doesn't support the reverse cam?

AFAIK, it should support the rear view cam. Please check up the connections and the camera.

Is it possible to get the DRLs working on high intensity during the day?

Re: Skoda Laura vRS : Test Drive & Review

Hello guys,
You may remember my Jetta ownership thread - Artemis (Artemis, the goddess of the hunt: VW Jetta MK6 Comfortline TDI)

I have since then moved to Sydney, and have bought a pre owned Octy / Laura vRS 2011 for a paltry 6 lakhs. Brilliant vehicle, remapped to 250 bhp.
Anyone can point me to a brochure for this model?

Skoda Laura Petrol TSI 1.8

I have a 2010 Skoda Laura Petrol TSI. I stopped using the authorised service centre due to very high costs. I now realise that they have not returned my service manual so I have no way of knowing what needs to be replaced and when.
Car has done 50,000 km. Someone told me to change the timing belt? is this necessary now?
Also the central locking is not working and windows do not open. Local mechanic tells me that the FRM is faulty and repairs will cost 8,000 rs.
Any advice welcome with gratitude.

Re: Skoda Laurs Petrol TSI 1.8

Have you checked online for a soft copy of the Owner's Manual ? You should be able to find one for the Laura.

We have some on TBHP too. Do check.
