Re: Team-BHP's first Mahindra Scorpio LX 4WD

Congrats on your new ride! I was wondering if M&M dealers can install captain's seats and the 3rd row front facing seats at the rear from the VLX.

Always go by the grades/brands mentioned in the user manual.

Did a small mod which i guess is an important mod for a 4WD vehicle , added a pair of lambda free wheeling hubs

Electronic-shift 4wd comes with auto-locking hubs? Why would you replace them so early?

This is something even I am interested in!
I think Safari and Scorpio come with same auto locking hubs. I was looking for manual lock hubs too as these auto ones are not very durable.
Where did you get them? Whats the price.
Can you share the part number?

3600 for the pair? Thats good and cheap!
BTW auto locking hubs do not fail in water. Your transfer case will not shift to 4wd. Raise the scorpio on a lift, and cover the electronic bits with silicon gel. SS-Traveller knows what to do, drop him a PM

Re: Team-BHP's first Mahindra Scorpio LX 4WD

@Karisma: There have been extremely few complaints about the auto locking hubs from any Safari/Scorpio 4WD users that use the same hub. As tsk pointed out, it is the silly electronic transfer case that is more likely to be an issue under water. Please waterproof the connectors.

A friend of mine tells his thar also failed to engage to 4wd in water numerous times though it has lever type 4wd , what may be the reason ?
so he also opted for manual hubs .

As i said im not taking any chances as i would be travelling to remote areas with real bad pathways , next work as you all said is to water proof the electronic bits beneath.

At many Mahindra Great escapes, and OTRs, scorpios 4wds turned into 2wds of there was water.
It is because of the low sitting components in the electronic transfer case.
The auto hubs are mechanical. Water or no water does not matter. However, after deep water crossing, hub greasing must be done.
I have been using them, and they failed in totally dry terrain(some internal pin got bent). Even now, they are not working properly. Mechanical failure. Need to get them changed.
So its good you got them changed, but waterproofing the components is a must.

that said, is it 3600 a pair? Can you give me contact details of dealers in India?

So you mean to say it fails not because of water but due to mechanical failure , so the choice i have taken is good or not? Water proofing will be done as you advised .

Just type lambda components , bangalore in justdial you will get the contact . Yes 3600/- for pair.

Re: Team-BHP's first Mahindra Scorpio LX 4WD

Agreed. You have a mean looking Scorpio. Black Scorpio + black tints + chrome alloys + 4wd = killer!
