Hey guys , here's how it all started
I owned a 2002 honda city , since my marriage was fixed for the month of november i decided to buy me a diesel vehicle , later decided to buy a 4WD SUV so that i can travel because me & my wifey have already made list of places we want to travel which most of the trips kinda need 4WD. First decided on the budget i can afford on consultation with dad (dad was strict on buying a new car rather than used ones), with 11lakhs budgets there were not much choice except for THAR . I did not want a thar since i already have a gypsy, next day me & bro went to Mahindra showroom to check it and boy was i surprised when the sales executive told me scorpio 4WD is gonna be released in LX version . Spoke to dad he agreed , next day went along with a friend and booked a black LX 4WD on 29/9/2011 , i was told it would take 6 weeks to be delivered,it sounded ok and the deal was done . I waited & waited & waited . Till december 13th the dealer says the car is not yet billed so its about 12 weeks now , finally the dealer says on 16th december that my vehicle is billed and would be delivered on 22nd december 2011 , i was delighted . The vehicle arrives to the dealer on 21st december , i immediately went and checked it . I was deeply convinced on seeing my vehicle , now i couldnt wait a day to get my vehicle compared ot that 13 weeks i waited . Finally on 22nd they delivered the vehicle with great care . The delivery experience was great . Enough talking now for some pics , Will post the interior pics by evening

Let me be the first one to congratulate you. Smart move by Mahindra to release the LX in 4x4 mode. Some more interior pictures would be appreciated. Enjoy the ride.

congrats!!!

IMO just black out those fake tail light extensions.

it will give your scorpio more gangsta look too.:D

rgds,
Nikhil

Congrats...

Assuming you are planning for the himalayan trip with wife - and having a monstor in sheeps clothing - put a good 60-70K and get a warn winch. Will help in the layas, coorg, etc etc...

PS - What was the OTR without any addons like tyres/rims etc...?
PPS - 3 months eh, and they promised 4 weeks? jokers! India garage?

Congrats ! Nice alloys too!

Got say this! check this out Tata ! LX and 4x4 !

Congrats on the purchase.:thumbs up This vehicle is what I term the true Indian "Expedition Vehicle". Reliable, comfortable and no unwanted gizmos. You will enjoy all your trips in this.

What tires did it come with from the showroom?
Does it come with an immobiliser?

Great show!
The LX Scorpio with 4WD should have ideally been offered to consumers ages ago! But like they say, better late than never!
I like your wheel design and the tyres look very purposeful and tough!
All the best and Happy Driving!

If you dont mind my asking, will you tell me the price of these tyres and where you bought them?
Also which dealer did you buy your Scorpio from?

Thanks!

That I can tell you. In one of the pics, you can see the SKS Automobiles sticker on the rear windshield.:D

By the way, is your Scorp still in Blore or has it gone to its new home in Coorg?

Wow, this is a great move by mahindra (a cheaper 4x4 version) to counter the mini-SUV craze that is about to grip India with releases such as the Renault Duster, Ford Eco Sport etc etc. So Can you give us details of the price you paid for the LX 4x4. And also I know that the LX comes with side facing Jump seats at the back, will it be possible to ask the dealer to convert that into 3 forward facing rows or seats?

Good observation!

My old Scorp has buzzed off to my pal in Coorg. He's been using it this last one month or so and has clocked more than 1k kms on it so far at last count.

Cheers

Congrats buddy.

Scorpio LX seems to be the most affordable 4WD SUV right now. Also, it has got all the basic features like AC, power windows, etc. Only thing missing on such a huge SUV is ABS, wish it was optional atleast.

Nice alloys & tyres, Kudos. Why are the tyres looking old?

Congratulations on your new buy, wishing you all Phun and pure Phun with your black beauty.

Are their any mods lined up to pep the off-roading abilities? just curious to know, by adding a winch will that hold good for the warrant or guarantee of the vehicle or the key components?

They could have made ABS and 2 Airbags optional at an extra cost. I am sure people who pay more than lip service to safety would have paid up for these!

And another thing - why dont they do the same with the Bolero by offering 4WD in the base model? That would be another serious killer - but I guess it might rip their own Thar apart!

Truly, this market is probably the only one that is being completely starved for choice by the local manufacturers. Thank god for competition which seems to be hotting up in 2012, to make things easier and better for consumers!

congrats on your Scorpio. Waiting for the interios pics.

One thing that i would like to see is 3rd Row AC. I think the Scorpio (top end) has AC only for the first 2 rows.
Secondly the basic model is set to be a hit in the Taxi segment and it is really annoying to site in the third row without an AC, taking at least Chennai summer as an exmaple. Single blowers dont reach the 3rd row and cool effectively.

Except for the 4WD switch, i dont think there would be anything different on the 4WD LX, as against the 2WD LX version. That also certainly means no 3rd row A/C.
