Some super mods with your projectors! I have a few questions, will be of immense help if you can answer
How easy were the FX-R projectors to fit ? Did you have to cut the reflector ? Were the Morimoto's bolt on
How is the light output when compared to the Morimoto D2S ?
Finally,
Did you have to pay customs for the product when ou shipped them ?

Thanks.
The FXR projector fitting not easy as D2S, The reflector was removed and projector stands in metal sheet now. The FXR don't have bolts.
I think for city driving, D2S will be suffice.
Incase if you need better low beam in D2S you could alter the plate inside the projector.

Since FXR is one of best projectors, the output is really great.
It's more clear and wider beam ouput
I will post more pics later.

Yes, Shipping + Customs is something we need to pay, other than that if you opt for USPS it takes more time to reach here. For me I think it took 20 days.

I'm a little confused here. So did you have to glue the projector to the HLs reflectors to fit them as they don't have bolts ? Also did you fit the FXR yourself or got it done somewhere ?

I'm also upgrading lights mainly for highways. What plate are you referring to ?

I'm ok with the waiting time. Can you please mention the total landed cost for the D2S ? Including shipping and customs

I have removed the reflector, Now no reflector inside.
The projector has the option for screwing, With this it got screwed to headlight assembly now. I could add more pics here for the clarify.
I guess the landing cost was 21k last year, I don't remember it exactly. Since it was more than a year. Shipping was $55 in addition to what it shows online now. You could check it now.

Looks superb! Please do post pics of the beam patterns, high and low. Interested in the intensity mainly. Also, was the FX-R a DIY retrofit or you sought the help of a professional ?

Sure, I will add the beam pattern.

Whoa! Your Vento looks smashing in a menacing type with those projectors. Superb stuff TopSpeeder! Thanks for those cut-out ideas. After watching too many DIY's on youtube I wasn't very confident of doing it myself so i'm thinking of sourcing some el-cheapo headlights to experiment before I actually do it on my car.
Will probably trouble ou with more questions then, hope you won't mind :)
Awesome DIY Topspeeder.
I am also planning to get the Morimoto D2S kit from theretrofitsource.com for my Polo, but kind of apprehensive about the installation.
Mini D2S 2.0 Bi-xenon projectors (RHD)
Morimoto 3Five Ballasts
Morimoto 3Five Bulbs
9003/H4 MotoControl Relay Harness
LED Halo
Shrouds/Bezels (Apollo is the one I am choosing)
Anythings else we need?
Did you do the installation all by yourself or took some help?
Is the D2S adequate or at least comparable to the stock halogen setup?
How did you remove the plastic cover of the headlamp cluster? Any tips?
Sharing a video about the installation. Is is actually this simple?

Finally, is the FX kit way better than the D2S? The price difference is not much but I believe the installation is tricky.
Sorry for so many questions but since you have done the exact same thing I am planning, you are best person to answer these.:)
The FXR looks awesome . Any DIY planned to better the intensity of the fogs ?
Thanks Guys.

Sure, You could bet on D2S which might be easier for installation.

Your list looks sufficient.
You could add resealing glue incase of need.
When buying the LED rings verify the diameter of shroud in case you are planning to fit concealed. You could check with them.
Also shrouds, you could select the premium one which comes with rings.

Yes, I have completed the installation by myself. If you have the interest you could do it.
The D2S project setup is any day better than halogens.
I agree FXR installation is bit tricky, D2S is sufficient and easy to install.
You could refer this on how to detach the headlights using this video

Long time its been. Any update on the 4th service which was due on 26 Nov? Also when did you have brake pads replaced and were the discs changed at 60,000 Kms?
TopSpeeder : Thanks for a fantastic writeup of your car and all the updates. I have recently booked a Vento HL TDI and was going through all the posts. Yours have certainly been extremely helpful. Could you help me out with these questions that I have before I take the initial delivery of the car.
1. Change of HU and Speakers - I am also interested primarily in improving the sound quality. Have also come across the Philadelphia 835 HU from Blaupunkt as a viable option especially since it comes with satnav. What do you think about it?But did changing the HU/speakers have any effect on the warranty? Did you get these changes updated in the car records in the workshop?
2. Change of tyres - Most TBHPians have suggested a change of tyres at the outset to improve the ride quality and sound. What was your experience with them? Same question about the warranty since the tyre dimensions have changed.
bala80, souravc and any other vento owners : if you are reading this thread, would like your opinion too. :)
Thank you
