Maruti Suzuki releases DZire LDi-X Limited Edition - Xcent effect?

The impending launch of the Hyundai XCent must have the guys at Maruti Suzuki worried. That can be the only explanation behind releasing the DZire LDi-X Limited Edition - whose media advertisement is a direct reflection of which car it is squarely targetting.

Review: The 2nd-gen Maruti Dzire-marutisuzukiswiftdzireldixlaunchimages.jpg

(image sourced from Motoroids)

Mechanically unchanged, the DZire LDi-X Limited Edition boasts of these additional features:
  • Vanity mirror on the sun visor
  • Body coloured wing mirrors
  • Integrated turn indicators on wing mirrors
  • Front fog lamps
  • Remote central locking
  • Power windows
  • 2-DIN stereo
  • Four speakers
  • Inner rear view mirror with night mode
  • LDi-X limited edition decals
The DZire LDi-X Limited Edition is priced at Rs. 6.86L OTR, Delhi (almost 37,000 rupees over the regular LDi), and carries features worth 46,500/-. Maruti Suzuki claims that the features offered in the LDi-X are similar to the DZire VDI, which is priced 67,000/- rupees more than the regular LDi.

The DZire is still India's best-selling sedan.

Re: Maruti Suzuki releases DZire LDi-X Limited Edition - Xcent effect?

Maruti does Limited Editions regularly.
http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/indian...ntroduced.html

They named it XDI for the Swift and has changed it to LDI X for the Dzire. BUt it is basically the same thing,s trying to sell the lowest variant to lower inventory stocks.

Instead of spending to accessorize the model, had they introduced ABS in the variant they would made the car atleast safer on the roads. Isnt this a pure marketing gimmick? Cant blame Maurti for this coz there will buyers for this offering too.

Absolutely share the sentiment!
But alas, the 'Aam Aadmi'( common wo/man) is not bothered about ABS and other safety features. The diesel car with a boot itself is a bigger achievement.
But the point is - why should be the mass market be asking for these features? Do they really know the impact of not having ABS in their cars. Majority would not even know the full form.
It is upto car manufacturers in part, to spend on advertisements to bring down the point of spending more on ABS and Airbags than the inflated bills of hospitals. Even those bills, sometimes, fail to get the near and dear ones back.

Cant the Maruti guys at least once not quote a decal as a feature? All limited editions have decal as a feature. Really? What does this feature do?

This is just stupidity. They could've given airbags and abs in this variant. But no, they choose to have stupid cosmetic stuff.

re: Review: The 2nd-gen Maruti Dzire

Maruti just wants to divert all of the customers attention from Hyundai Xcent and wants their monies diverted to Dzire. That too just 2 days before Xcent launch. Smart marketing I would say, although many of us may not be impressed as it still does not include some much needed safety features (e.g ABS). They will make their order book swell for sure. March numbers will tell the story.

So what is the difference between Vdi and LdiX in terms of equipment level and price?

re: Review: The 2nd-gen Maruti Dzire

A very well timed launch of limited edition appealing to the Gen -X.
Well seems very evident that this one's here to challenge the upcoming Hyundai Xcent ( and hence the X in Maruti's limited edition LDiX)

Maruti Swift/Dzire - Tips & Tricks

So, Maruti sells close to 50% of the total cars that are sold in India. Historically, they are one of the cheapest and easy to maintain cars (May not be the case for everyone). Their customer service till date is unmatched across all segments. Maruti understands Indian customers better than any other manufacturer (Indian or Videshi) in the country. They may not have the most luxurious of the cars, but they definitely have a car for every Indian and more importantly for most of the Indian mentality (Easy to own, cheap to maintain, long lasting).

Why am I saying all these? For some strange reason Maruti is more popular outside of the forum than inside. Especially the swift and the Dzire. Sure, there are test drives and reviews and ‘some’ long term ownership reviews, and there is also a forum to discuss the service costs. But, these forums are not updated regularly. A fact to quote, the new swift Dzire is still the fastest selling car in its segment, yet there are not many long term ownership reviews (The car was launched during end of 2012) that I could find.

I am starting this thread in the hope that we can discuss about the tips and tricks to enhance, change, modify or unearth some for the features in the Swift and the Dzire models that are not made available to all the customers. Below are certain links that I read through which prompted me to create this thread.

http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/techni...ps-tricks.html
http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/techni...console-7.html

The discussion need not be restricted to Swift and Dzire but for all Maruti cars, past, present and future.

Note to Mods – If you think this thread is irrelevant or the discussions already exists in other forums, please feel free to delete/move the same. I did search for similar ones on the forum and did not find any.

re: Review: The 2nd-gen Maruti Dzire

Has anyone tried fitting an engine guard to their Dzire? If yes, where and how much is the cost. I have been thinking if it's worth getting a guard for the engine at all. Please suggest. Is this available as a OE part?

re: Review: The 2nd-gen Maruti Dzire

Another question. Does the Dzire come with the AC filter? Anyone got it fitted if it did not come with one? Are there any benefits of getting a air filter?

I am no expert on this. But the last time I had got my Dzire serviced, these guys had replaced the AC Filter. It looks a little similar to the Air Filter but is smaller and compact.

I hope you are not confused between the AC Filter and the Air Filter.
AC Filter is to filter the air that comes in the cabin when we use the AC in order to provide fresh clean air.
Air Filter is the one inside the black box that you see above the engine when you open the bonnet. I had replaced the air filter myself two months back. That is a very simple DIY. Actually should not even call it a DIY. It is that simple.
