re: Land Rover Freelander 2 - The first on the forum! EDIT: Sold!

Congratulations Ricky, this would be classified as most sensible pre-worshiped purchase, as you always knew the vehicle first hand.

Freelander is an absolute drool material, i used to spot one zipping around every day on my way to office. Please post more inside pictures, as that is an area that we don't get to see often.

Q: On post 8, second picture i see four modes and Hill decent hold. Normal mode, Snow mode, Desert mode, and the fourth isn't clear. Did i get the modes right? Why such mode when most other off roaders 4H,4L etc? and how these modes are different from each other?

Hahaha.. the moment I saw this thread, I was wondering when and what you'd be doing to it to make it go faster!
Hey Anant..

Thanks !! So have I . Quite honestly, the car is fast in stock form but who minds some more horses when it can be easily achieved !!

OT: Is the Paj still with you?
Thanks Isp..Actually the list is much longer than that, but that is immaterial Ya the AT does help a lot, though I still love the Pajero, which I still have, but I do intend to sell it, any takers ?

Mayank, could not agree with you more ! The four modes are Normal, loose mud slush, Snow, Desert... From what I understand the 4H & 4L will serve the same purpose manually, where as this would do it electronically. Not very sure, but the seems logical

re: Land Rover Freelander 2 - The first on the forum! EDIT: Sold!

Thanks a lot for this buddy. And congrats!

We have been eyeing a FL2 for quite a long time. Its the steep pricing which makes it out of our reach sadly, but its my dream to own a LR.

Please share more pics like rear legroom, dash, GPS, etc. & more details like ride, handling, features, comfort, etc. Also, FL2 does not come with rear AC vent, so how is the cooling in the rear seat?

As per their website, the new SE with 150 ps engine does not come with electrically adjustable seats. Only the HSE with 190 ps engine has those gizmos. You are lucky to find the older HSE.

Please do keep updating this thread regarding service & upkeep costs, fuel efficiency, etc...

Do you want All Terrain tires?
In that case you can go for Continental Cross Contact A/T. They are available in 235/65R17 size. (Series 65)
Call up continental tires head office in Nehru place

+(91)-(11)-43744614, 43744600, 43744666

They will give the number of their sales head.

If you are lucky, some dealer in your location may have the tires. If not, they you have to wait till May end, when import of Cross Contact A/T resumes.
I wanted these tires, and they worked hard to locate a dealer for me. Finally a dealer in Naraina had these in stock(16" for safari).

Their sales team is efficient in this regard, and works very hard. If there is a tire in NCR, they will find it for you.

re: Land Rover Freelander 2 - The first on the forum! EDIT: Sold!

Got a new set of tyres - same as OE - Good Year Wrangler. There is not much available in 235/65/17 - though the OE tyres still had life in them..but I consider it prudent to change to new ones & buy peace of mind

Attaching some pics of the same

I posted the old tyres pics with the new ones just to compare

Lovely vehicle Ricky. Enjoy!!
How does it fare on the lateral golf bag test??
Just kidding!
In particular I like that retractable cover which goes over the luggage compartment. A fine invention indeed!
Wish they had done the same for the Yeti too!

Cheers!

Thanks Shankar.

The one grouse I have is that there is no cover over the boot. Are you sure ? Which version ?

Cheers

re: Land Rover Freelander 2 - The first on the forum! EDIT: Sold!

The Freelander is returning 10 kmpl in the city with AC, which is pretty good, given that it is a 2500 kg vehicle & AT

Driving dynamics yet to be tested over trying terrain

Cheers

re: Land Rover Freelander 2 - The first on the forum! EDIT: Sold!

Congrats Ricky for your FL2 that also happens to be the first on the forum. Wishing you miles & miles & miles.

Just a quote from Robert Frost with a bit of alteration:

The woods are lovely, dark and deep,
But want to climb hills so steep,

And miles to go before I sleep,

And miles to go before I sleep.
