A fun read indeed. The Accord really sounds interesting and punchy.

Re: The Comparison - vRS vs Accord V6 vs 320D vs Punto MJD

Have gone through the Accord v6 thread and this one and must say they make for a fantastic read!
We have an automatic Civic at home and it wouldn't be wrong to say that happiness in this car is just one flick of the accelerator pedal away. Thus I have a soft corner for the Accord. That being said, the BMW is a fantastic car from a whole different sense. I have test driven one and it's just mind boggling to see how it handles any type of corner with confidence! If I was in your place, it would be really difficult to choose between the BMW and the Accord.

This is too good to read for Punto owners like me

Good attention to details and a nice thread.

Yup yup headers. It gives me a certain amount of satisfaction as well. I happen to own a Linea and her ride and handling is singularly itself, stuff to beat man. The hydraulic steering is an absolute treat in this day and age of burgeoning non-communicative, lifeless EPSs!

Haha the vRS will start piling on KMs soon. It will be used the most, I expect monthly usage to be 1500kms.

The vRS steering though direct cannot match the feel of the Lineas and Puntos steering. The BMW even though its EPS is just brilliant.

Spot on buddy. That's what I said - even today each time I crank the engine, that awesome feel of the steering, you know pulling her to the left in order to ease her out of my garage - well - never fails to get a grin to my face.

Have you also noticed this? On well inclined curves on the roads (rarely found in India), you don't even need to turn, the steering turns by itself! I have experienced this on my Punto many times. Also, while backing up, many times people have asked me if Punto has automatic parking... :-)

This happens in all vehicles with proper wheel alignment

Does it? Somehow I have never felt it on any car having electronic power steerings. I had the impression that this happens only on cars having hydraulic steering. However, my other car, the Spark, doesn't have this "auto-turning" feature... although it has a hydraulic unit...

Actually, this happens with all cars that have strong steering self-centering action. Basically depends on how the steering is calibrated. Recommended for further study -

Caster angle - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Job of the castor is to bring the steering back to centre position. If the castor angle is affected from OE specs than the self centering action would get affected.

Also, the rate of change or the feedback on the steering because of the road surface etc. is based on the design of the vehicle, its purpose and markets it is designed for!!

There is no calibration for the steering - It is designed for for the application and vehicle!

Karan , I noticed your set of cars and the common thing about you and akshay is that both of you have a punto in the garage , inspite of having the other luxury cars .

Any specific reason for this ?
