I called up Maruti folks here in Bangalore just to check the waiting period for ertiga. Found that Lxi, Vxi and Ldi were readily available !!!! Made a quick visit to the showroom and saw Ldi and got disappointed. There are no AC vents for rear passengers. I thought, cutting costs by not providing rear AC vents was a bad idea especially since the third row passengers cant even open the windows. They will feel suffocated for sure.

Thats strange. The dealers here in Jaipur are giving waiting periods of about 2 months for the ldi. Well thanx for pointing out the absence of rear AC vents in the base trim as a friend was eager to buy one.
Did you enquire about the waiting period of the Vdi?

Maruti recommend synthetic oil although they give you the choice between mineral and synthetic. Out of the factory, the Ertiga diesel comes with mineral oil. I personally prefer synthetic albeit being a bit expensive for superior performance at sustained high speeds.

Your 2nd service is an inspection service. They don't change the oil at 5k, perhaps a top up if needed. I personally skipped the 5k service and went directly for the 10k service. The engine will definitely benefit from an oil change at 5k but personally I don't recommend it nor does Maruti. The Multijet is pretty reliable and it doesn't even drink oil like some other diesel engines. So, you can stick to the prescribed 10k oil change.

They rotate the tyres along with balancing and alignment. I was not charged for it in this service.

Can't the rear A/C vents be added by the dealer? It can be done for Innova / Safari etc [which has a similar set up], so guess could be done for Ertiga as well!

If you want to pamper your ride, you may change the oil at 5K, else skip it. Also if you want to change it at 5K, stick on to mineral oil - that's more economically feasible.

You better get the wheel rotation & alignment done with some specialists. Do it every 5K and you can extract the best out of your tyres.

Yes. The waiting period for Vdi in Bangalore is around 4 months. Ldi was readily available. I checked in RNS motoros Bangalore.

The rear AC is roof mounted. I am not sure whether such a thing can be added by the dealer.

Rear AC Unit Can be added to the ertiga. This is needed only if the 3rd row is used frequently. Ideally we do not need one, but yes, I am in the type of person who would pamper the 3rd row passenger too.The AC Unit should set you back by close to 20,000/-. It is NOT an MGA but an aftermarket install. Do double check on warranty remaining intact post installation

Sorry to ask a very basic question - what does "opening up" really mean? My assumption is that it means that all the moving parts of the engine are well lubricated and have settled nicely into their operating slots/positions post removal of any residual metal due to a brand new engine block and other parts.

I also have an Ertiga VDi that I took delivery on 11th-Aug. have done 2100 kms approx. FE as per the MID is 13.6 km in Bangalore city traffic - mainly from Bannerghatta Road to Ulsoor Road and back (about 26 kms round trip).

I have yet to check the full tank method for the FE - it will happen in a couple of days I think.

Yes. It also means the engines revvs up better and smoother. Sometimes people use the word "bed in" too!

I own an Ertiga VDi Granite Grey. Its been around with me for 2 weeks now. My only rouse is with the Suspension or shocks to be precise. Having graduated from a Fiat Adventure, I have been spoiled by the superior shocks advu had. So the only thing I need to probably change in the Ertiga are the shocks. Suggestions here are welcome. Maruti should have worked on the shocks. for a 10L car the shocks are very ordinary

What exactly do you feel is a problem with the shocks? And please don't expect the kind of ride quality from Fiat in Marutis. You should have looked at the Renault Duster [in that price range] if you were looking for that kind of comfort.

I would have bought a Linea in place of a Duster. Ertiga is a seven seater and I needed a car with flexible seating option.
The problem with the shocks are that they are too hard for my comfort. The smallest of road undulations are felt inside the cabin. Change of tyres may help to an extent but that would be fractional.

What are your tyre pressure readings ?

Reducing 2 to 3 psi might help in city driving in this regard.

Our Ertiga completed 1111 kms and the headlamps are the major concern. Any suggestions to improve lights without affecting warranty?

Also, the gear shifting is not smooth sometimes while shifting from 5th to 4th. Anyone else felt like this?
