I am planning to swap them with Bosch Aerotwins if the size is available.
I did that but the bosch blades also aged in no time. They also started leaving moisture traces on the glass. I felt i wasted money on them.

I think it is better to simply change blades every season with standard issue. That way also it will cost same.

re: Review: 1st-gen Maruti Ertiga

Does anyone have any answer as to why there is a price difference of only Rs.25K between VDi and ZDi variants, while the difference between VXi and ZXi varaints is Rs.61,262?

For reference, prices in Dehradun are as follows:
VXi - Rs.7,76,005/-
ZXi - Rs.8,37,267/- (VXi + 61262)
VDi - Rs.9,67,995/-
ZDi - Rs.9,93,141/- (VDi + 25146)

Could this be due to higher tax for cars above 10L in your RTO? Price in my place look at par (in terms of difference between petrol and diesels).

Mumbai prices are:
VXI - 7.83
ZXI - 8.41
difference = 58k

VDI - 9.81
ZDI - 10.39
difference = 58k

Delhi Prices:-

ZXi - Rs.8,27,163/- (VXi + 60378)

VDi - Rs.9,57,872/-
ZDi - Rs.9,95,215/- (VDi + 37343)

Mumbai Prices:-
VXi - Rs.7,83,149/-
ZXi - Rs.8,40,945/- (VXi + 57796)

VDi - Rs.9,80,648/-
ZDi - Rs.10,39,357/- (VDi + 58709)

Kolkata Prices:-
VXi - Rs.7,99,513/-
ZXi - Rs.8,60,794/- (VXi + 61282)

VDi - Rs.9,95,852/-
ZDi - Rs.10,59,206/- (VDi + 63354)

So, lot of price variation among various cities for exact same feature differences between VXi/VDi and ZXi/ZDi, especially in the North.

Thanks for your feedback. Let me check how long the Bosch blades last.
Price for wiper blade replacement at Chennai MASS (Maruti Service Masters, Guindy) was Rs.900/-.
That is the reason I informed the MASS to take back the new blades and ordered Bosch blades from Amazon for Rs.340/-.

There is something wrong here.
Standard blades cost less than 250.0 and Bosch blades (model I don't remember now) have cost me Rs.2000.0 aaprox.

re: Review: 1st-gen Maruti Ertiga

On a slightly different note, i would like to tell you all about my Ertiga Sale. There was a need to buy a small automatic at home and i couldnt keep more than 2 cars. Since my Ecosport was only 1.5 yrs old, decided to give away the Ertiga. 2014 Jan Registered Zxi model which ran 52000 kms at the time of Sale. Got me 5.7 Lakhs and I am quite happy. Used it for 4 yrs 8 months and a ton of roadtrips with family. It stayed trouble free all through and the vehicle was in good condition when i sold it. I remember buying it after discounts for 8.65 L. Overall I am not sure if i got lucky or if its the Famed Maruti Resale value but on the whole, i am a happy camper

New owner seems to be enjoying the vehicle .

Hey Keshav, could I know how you went about selling it? I too am looking at seeking my less than 3 year Ertiga automatic as I am looking for a SUV. Exchange values are atrocious

re: Review: 1st-gen Maruti Ertiga

My Ertiga Zxi completed 5 years this month. Overall, it's been a nice vehicle but whats bothering me is the service cost. Went for annual service today and got an estimate of Rs. 8,400 plus taxes. Mileage is slightly above 23000 km. This cost covers engine oil, a/c filter, wheel balancing, brake chemical and labor charges. I am wondering if this cost is kind of usual these days or my service center is overcharging!

Rs 8400 before tax seems to be on slightly higher side. Do you mind sharing the bill after masking personal info??

You can try out MASS which are not affiliated to a major sales group or try servicing from Tier 2 or 3 cities where labour rates are less.

  • Oil Filter @ 150/- : Seems like reasonable
  • AC Filter @ 450/- : Again seems reasonable. If you buy it online or from any reputed shop, it may save you not more than 100-150 bucks at max
  • Brake fluid @ 370/- : Should cost you so much for a can or 250/300 ml
  • Water Wash @ 250/- : First time I am hearing that this is charged extra (Unless W/W means something else). It (Waterless wash what they call) should be part of the PMS Costs and included in that 1850/-
  • Front Brake Cleaning and Rear Brake cleaning @ 360 and 480 is where you may want to take it up with the service center and seek an explanation on why this is not included as part of PMS jobs
  • Wheel alignment and Balancing @ 1200/- : Just decline this and get it done outside and that is going to easily save you at least 400-500 bucks easily

In short, if you settle for mineral oil (the cost of oil will reduce by half) and decline Alignment & Balancing plus ask for an explanation on being charged for Washing and brake cleaning, you will easily see the bill amount go down by 3000 INR.

The problem these days with ASCs (and mainly Maruti) is the way extra items get billed and I am glad they haven't billed you for AC Cleaning or Engine Decarb here.

Also one question : at 23,000 Kms, I presume you are getting the 20K service done? If yes, then why is Coolant not getting replaced?

Please check the maintenance schedule section of your owner's manual and replace all that is necessary based on Number of Kms or Number of years (whichever is earlier)

Yes, it's synthetic oil.
w/w is wheel weight.
Break cleaning is not included in PMS!
20K service was already done last year. As you can see I haven't driven much since then!

Parag has called out why your bill is high. Given your running us very low and you do serviceson time, do you really need fully synthetic oil??
