Adding to the bias, I am surprised a fact was wrong as well - Storme comes with 17" alloys :)
Prem.
Any idea about the automatic transmission that Tata had showcased in the Delhi Autoshow? Safari Storme or Tata Aria with an AT box will be great vehicles for both city and off road driving. Seems like the built quality has much improved and Storme looks good too. I saw one on the road a couple of days ago and it certainly seems as good as outgoing Safari with hopefully better quality and interiors.

comparison between storme and xuv. Looks like sponsored by Tata Motors and shot in Tata Motors Campus. Though this review highly underrated XUV in front of Storme. |
:uncontrol Now that's how you decimate the other camp. Even the Safari lovers like me wouldn't appreciate the beast so much. I honestly empathize with M&M for this completely tangential review lol:
OT, please, please do not reply to this.....since we talked a lot about pricing, i thought this will be a good read...

rather than stimulate absolutely massive demand for the new tablet by pricing it competitively, Apple is actually trying to control demand (and protect its profit margin) by pricing it higher.

Looks like the reverse of what MM done with XUV.

Is this guy for real ?
Did anyone count the number of times he said
new,
all new.. It's a new vehicle alright. We get it. :)
Liberal use of "there are also some few nice features like ..." "..oolsoo.."
Firm seats of safari will let you drive for hours BUT firm seats of XUV will give you pain-in-the-you-know-what.
Reviews like these make you value the official T-BHP reviews even more! I wonder why he didn't compare it to the Fortuner, or is it in the pipeline? lol:

Wow, some comparison this. The storme beats the XUV by a huge margin. Now lets wait for the car to come to showrooms, test drives and XUV bookings to come down to a zero.
I doubt that this will be a Tata sponsored video, as the tatas are generally more humble, and though I like the storme, almost every drive that he took in Ihe XUV see,sto show the storme in a poorer light. The steering issue now seems to be a reality as it can be definitely seen that the steering is almost hitting his legs. I also loved the comparison of boot space. All in all this has to be the best apple vs apple comparison yet... (Pun intended)
Its one of the most amateurish/unprofessional/lousy review i have ever come across, am sure no auto maker would want to have someone review their cars from such jokers!

Saw a white Strom yesterday.
Looks much better in flesh, specially the front.
To me it is definitely next gen Safari in looks as well, Matured & Aggressive.
TML has done a great job with pricing as well.
IMO by pricing it below XUV they are trying to do the what XUV did to Aria, trying to win back potential XUV customers by attempting to deliver a niggle free product with premium/superior fit & finish.

I would second that and this humility was seen in the statements from Tata when they conceded their position to Mahindra.
The video is not opening for me, though from the look of the site, and from the contents I read it on this thread, I doubt whether that's TML's content.

People buy Safari knowingly that they'll have face problem from day 1, be it rattling or TASS. I dont know how many people will say this when they buy Scorpio or for that instance even XUV.
This kind of fan following, probably, no other vehicle has. We can choose to call them fans or stupids, but do they actually care.. its love at first sight, who cares what happens next.. :) |
Yes, maybe.
But here I am talking with the aam junta in perspective, not just Safari fans. After all, for any vehicle to do well, it needs to please everyone and not just it's loyalists.

I would expect the regular un-informed junta to think so, but comes as a surprise to hear this on this forum. From what I read somewhere, the storme has 82% new components. Just coz they retained the old body structure ???
Agreed. They missed the bus here, definitely. |
If you agreed on the second point, you should agree on the first one too... as that is exactly what I meant.
Let the Storme have a new chassis, new suspension and new dashboard, but at the end of the day, it is easily recognizable as the same 14 year old Safari. For a safari fan or loyalist, it maybe a good thing. But for everyone else (which includes me), I am bored of that design...

Storme LX - Rs. 9.92 Lacs
Scorpio SLE - Rs. 9.55 Lacs
Not much to differentiate the two in terms of features. At 40K, you get a newer vehicle with supposedly better road manners and interior quality. If 7 seats are your priority, then definitely look elsewhere, but does the LX now seem VFM?
|
You are right. The Storme LX makes more sense over the Scorpio SLE.

Amateurish - seems created to help showroom staff talk about the vehicle. But neither correct, nor balanced nor classy enough to be an official video.
Not the known TATA way of doing things.

Is the Storme being pitched against the Scorpio ? Then what about competition to the XUV ? Does Tata have anything lined up to take on the XUV ?
It seems to go back to the product portfolio again - Tata has over-lapping products in the lower end, while Mahindra looks to have a far better defined product mix.
And when we consider the amount of work that has gone into bring out a product like the Grande & now the Storme - only to overlap with existing products and simultaneoulsy not being able to take on the competition - isnt it a hell of a lot of efforts that could have been directed /channelised better ?

I think that they are trying to compete both Scorpio and XUV with a single card. I could say so as both the Scorpio and XUV were also present at the time of the review lukeskywalker posted
Any members from Delhi/North booked the Storme ? Pls share your feedback on delivery time lines etc
Thanks
After innumerable visits to this thread and the reviews section (approximately 10 times a day over the last two weeks), i can see the activity level on this thread has wound down finally. has the official review of the storme been posted anywhere? please: any pointers would be appreciated.
