re: M(y) Hawk - Grey Mahindra XUV500 W6 (5000km Update & Wild Hawk at Page 7)

In that case, Mahindra's mean the black-plastic strip highlighted in red in the following picture as the cladding strip.

M(y) Hawk - Grey Mahindra XUV500 W6, 62000 kms update-mahindraxuv5oo08.jpg

That can hardly qualify as a cladding when compared to the white/silver cladding in the Scorpio picture below.

I guess others might have given you the answers already. You can go thru the XUV niggles and solutions thread here, search/read thru it, spend sometime and you will know whether this vehicle is for your or not.
All the best!

Thanks.

True Joy. I have had the vehicle for now almost one month with 5000kms on the ODO and the vehicle has been really good except for a few minor niggles. To name them, door locking and low beam throw leaving a dark patch.

I took the vehicle to the SC last week and the door issue was resolved (all it required was little bit of greasing I guess.. nothing more) and the lights were also adjusted. Other than the two, the vehicle has been simply fantastic. Excellent highway manners, loads of power, good space (2nd row is esp. a football field), fair dynamics when you compare it with other SUV's available here.. What more I can expect?

I am one happy chap with my XUV. I am loving it.

Thanks Pramod. Probably you can get it within 4 months or so. and also if you take the vehicle in Feb/Mar 13, you must get a 2013 car for all purposes. I would suggest you to go through niggles thread to set your expectations.

PS: Guys, any discussion not specific to Sathya's ride and ownership experience needs to be taken to the common thread "XUV : Official review". Let's not hickjack Sathya's thread.
Agree SDP. The black strip truly does not qualify to be called as Cladding. Its a joke when compared to cladding available in rest of the SUV's here.

100% agree. Pramod will know what to expect and what not. Though, my XUV personally exceeded the expectations I had in every possible way.

re: M(y) Hawk - Grey Mahindra XUV500 W6 (5000km Update & Wild Hawk at Page 7)

Its now thirty days and my XUV has done 5000kms in the ODO and is due for first service this week end. Did one more highway trip to Kerala and the XUV behaved really well all through. It saw some really bad roads to slushy conditions to ghats to some super good tarmac. In every condition, he was quiet and composed and just did the job perfectly.

Average fuel efficiency was close 14km/lt for the higher triple digit figures it saw on the speedo consistently. Those effortless overtaking.. simply awesome.

The door closing issue became a real pain during the trip and once I came back, I decided to take him to the workshop for a quick check. Went to Mahindra SC by 10am in the morning with a few issues - main things were Driver side door closing issue and Dark patch in RHS Headlight while in Low beam. The SC folks quickly lubricated the front door lock and did some alignment and also raised the low beam in the RHS from the engine compartment.

Its one week since I took him to the SC, the door issue has not recurred. The door is locking perfectly. So I assume it is fixed. The dark patch issue also went away after the lights were raised. Other than these, XUV has been wonderful for the last one month.

In August, XUV will clock more miles since I have planned long trips almost every week end. Will keep you all posted on how he fares in these long drives.

Now, let the pics do the talking again. Credit to Sriram for taking these wonderful pics, as always.

Hi Sathya, mindblowing pictures. Credits to the photographer and the owner of the cheetah.

Oh Man! you are fantabulous. You are a good writer and the last 7 pages of your ownership thread was read in one go. Felt like watching a Maniratnam movie. You are amazing and i could visualise your joy and pleasure of driving the cheetah through these pages.

No wonder you have clocked 5000 kms in a month !!

The cheetah deserve to be tamed by you.

Thanks. Indeed, I love to travel. Sriram got us all to jump multiple times and it was a worthy drill. Lost some fat too.. It was shot by his fav. double barrel gun.. I meant his Nikon D700

Run in.. what is it. My Cheetah saw a mighty 200 within the first 500 kms. It was good fun with a Laura. Also, it did consistent 160's in that trip. All my FIAT's see good triple digit speeds within the first few hundred kms (my T-Jet did 200+ during the Yelagiri trip and this was within the first 300kms).

Actually, I have to learn run-in from someone.

Lovely shots Sathya. Sure shows off the beauties of the cars and the skills of the photographer.
I know the Mudaliarkuppam flats. Last time, I saw a Pajero that was stuck in the mud.
200 kmph on a SUV? Would have been one scary ride (for the others )

Yes. We also saw the Pajero when we were there for the shoot.

XUV also feels scary at that speed -

and by the way when did you see the Pajero there..you must have been there when we were there actually.

July 1st. We were returning from PY. I was on the lookout for some birds when my son pointed out the stuck Pajero
Looks like it was stuck in the morning and there were some external help.
Didn't see any other car, XUV or TJet.

The Jet is amazing and i love myself everytime i am with her to have sold my 1.5 year old Linea 1.4 for the TJet. Thanks to you too having played a vital role.

The trip is long overdue and i would love to be on the tarmac with you....
My official work in the last one year is not allowing me any spare time but will soon find time to be part of the trips with you guys.
