Is it Siena 1.6 ELX?

BTW the alternator in Linea is Valeo make and before going for replacement I just want to give a try in repairing it. If that couldn't survive long, ofcourse will go for replacement.

re: Italian Beauty at Home - Pre-LOVED Fiat Linea MJD Emotion EDIT: Now sold!

Got update from my mechanic on the alternator.
Rectifier and regulator failed and bearing makes a little noise and may need a replacement.
Its time to evaluate my mechanic now, how much does this repair should cost?

Got the car back last Saturday, here goes the list of service / repair / replacement done

- Alternator repaired - working well now
- Battery charged and checked for the performance and found to be in good health
- Rear Shock absorbers changed (both side to 20mm GC increased spec)
- Timing chain replaced
- Fluids and filters changed

Successfully crossed the 60k milestone.

Sent you a PM.

I'm not looking for a increased GC and changing only the Rear Shocks will add no effect to GC.
Reason to use 20mm increased length parts is to avoid scrapping the underbelly by limiting the suspension stroke.

re: Italian Beauty at Home - Pre-LOVED Fiat Linea MJD Emotion EDIT: Now sold!

Completed 62.5k km

Changing the rear shocks proved a lot of difference. Managed to escape from all speed humps without under belly scratching (5 on board with no space left out in boot) Only negative point is ride became more stiffer as the gap between bump stopper and shocks is reduced.

For the first time I have taken the car in hills. Made a 3 day trip to Ooty and back to home town on new year night. It was delight driving her uphills. It has more than sufficient torque, managed to drive in 3rd/4th gears except for the hair pin bends where I shifted to 2nd gear.

And finally I was like seeing this. 16.4 kmpl for the trip Tirupur - Ooty - Coimbatore - Tirupur

re: Italian Beauty at Home - Pre-LOVED Fiat Linea MJD Emotion EDIT: Now sold!

hi mr.boss

good to know your car is running fine. i have a question, can you please tell me the output ampere rating of the linea's alternator please, is it 105A same as manza quadrajet?

even model number and other details of the alternator would be great, i am looking at higher output alternator for punto 90HP diesel.

so just want to know the stock output of the alternator first since its the same engine on the punto 90HP.

by the way the service manual available online for grande punto was in Italian and after translation it said 90A so i just wanted to know if the India based punto90HP comes with the same 90A as in the manual or higher ones like in manza 90HP, the model, current rating, part number and other details would be of great help.

thanks in advance.

Linea has got 105A alternator. I'm not sure about Punto, put as per 99rpm.com it should be same for both the cars.

http://www.99rpm.com/fiat/alternator-406751.html

BTW why do you wish to upgrade your alternator? Current one is not sufficient for the load? Have you added any high consumption accessories?

yeaph i am looking at additional 3500W power consumption on the car, this is car audio, lights and other accessories, i am looking for places to get the alternator rewinded or just buy another custom made one rated at 140A-170A alternator from europe for this car.

its confirmed its 105A, rewinding it would produce an additional 30A if thats less time consuming to get done and is more economical i would do that for now and see how it holds up, else will have to search for a higher output one from abroad.

Fiat's ECU is detecting a bulb change (from conventional to LED or even a minor rating change) and shows error in MID. Not sure if it should allow (without error code) alternator upgrade.

Do you wish to upgrade the battery also?

i am already done upgrading to a 70AH battery, with all the Equipment on the voltage drops to the range of 11.8-12.2V.

hence i thought i need the alternator upgrade now. and this is above 2K rpm,not idling.

re: Italian Beauty at Home - Pre-LOVED Fiat Linea MJD Emotion EDIT: Now sold!

Car sold :( (with a heavy heart)

Reason for the decision: Wanted a car with better rear seat comfort (Linea is not bad when it comes to rear seat comfort, but little cramped when compared with competitors)

Booked Nissan Sunny XVD.
Vehicle is ready for delivery. I had a pre-approved loan from SBI but to my bad luck, after selling the Linea I was informed that all the car loans are put on hold and it requires approval from Zonal office (earlier Branch approval is sufficient)
So I have to wait for another week.
