Sorry for the delayed response. I have been quite inactive on social media lately, but got to spend a lot of addition time behind the wheel .

Firstly, thanks to Karan's reviews of the Injen CAI i got one for my 328i too and absolutely love it.




I purchased it directly from racechip.com and had it shipped directly to India. Did not face any issues there. The installation is fairly simple and straight forward. A DIY job, but if you are not very familiar with working on your engine, your mechanic should be able to help you out. I have been running on this for almost a year now and have not faced any issues.

I have not yet tried to make any adjustments to the Racechip tuning to account for the CAI, but thanks for the pointer. Will look into it and let you know.

Too late! I've swapped my 328i for a Cooper S now and am way more likely to chip it up than I was with the BMW.

Some time ago at one of our Night drives;



While driving on the Expressway;



Got a small stone chip on the top left (passenger side) of the windshield;



Contacted Windshield experts & claimed insurance (My 1st claim of the car) for the same. They sourced the glass through of the BMW dealerships itself & got it fit at my building;



Orignal BMW;



Pilkington make, came in from the UK (took aprox 2 weeks for Windshield experts to source this glass via BMW)



Note: HUD equipped cars have different windshields & this is one of the distinguishing marks to check before installation;



Adhesive application;



Car ready to accept the new windshield;



Going in;



Done;



After about 7-8 days did take the car to 3M car wash just to be double sure & check leaks;



& everything was fine;



Windshield experts did a great job & i was totally charged only Rs 5000 (Including claim form, fitting & everything)

Job Well done !

Sorry to hear about it. I can relate to it as my Vento windscreen too had developed crack on its own.

Why didn't you go to BMW Workshop for replacement, as you were claiming insurance?

I did call them & they said as i did not have Zero Dep Insurance i will have to bear around INR 40k from my pocket (total quote was about INR 1.05L) which was shocking to hear. Hence when i contacted windshield experts as they did not have any such necessity of having zero dep or not or charging for adhesive separately or installing new gaskets etc.
Also recently a friend had replaced his 530d's windshield from them & also had heard some other positive reviews for them hence went ahead with Windshield experts as they sourced the glass through the same dealership, did the fitting etc and i was charged only Rs 5000/- (that too after install), hence a big thumbs up to them

Today's NH8 Drive

My 328i with BHPian Tanveer's 530d;

We did have some traffic on the NH8 upto 1st toll;



Reached for breakfast @ Ahura;

One of our car's had a low engine oil error on the cluster;



Thankfully he had 1L Oil, So we did a top up on the National Highway...its always a satisfying feeling to watch this;



At a random fuel station;





The S Class thirsty but still looking elegant;

While driving towards Ahura it was a pretty adrenaline thrilled drive, in fact one of the fastest we've reached. The Octavia RS performed well (BHPian esma) & both the tuned 530d's were blisteringly quick, So yes it was pretty entertaining. Also what impressed me in my car were the tyres (Yokohama Advan Sport v105s) which after a long time i got to test them to their limits. Very proud of this choice

However while returning, It was a very relaxing drive back as we cruised back to Mumbai.

Road Trip Update;

Earlier late last week I had a business trip to Gujarat(Silvassa), Pune which had to be made on 1 single day.

The previous day tanked up with high octane 97;



Left from Mumbai @ 7 am & Reached Silvassa @ 10 am.

Got done with the meeting, lunch & left for Pune via Mumbai, On NH8 (around early afternoon);



Temperatures were soaring high;



On Mumbai - Pune Expressway around mid afternoon;



Always important to remain hydrated in summer heat road trips, but the flip side, pee breaks :/

Also picked up a packet of biscuits, had a couple of them before hopping back in the car & then was back on the road.



Reached Pune just before 7pm & still had 100+ kms of range left;



The car got a much needed High Octane refuel in Pune;



Do note the car runs perfectly Ok on regular fuel too but still this was sort of an endurance test run for me & the car the exploit good FE, range with decent cruising speed to meet tight meeting schedules & both car & myself met the expectations.

Reached hotel around 7:45 pm & was ready for a business dinner meet @ 9pm.



Next day went to Ranjangaon for factory visit & got back to Mumbai around 8pm & here's the Trip Log;



^ Clean, high octane fuel definitely a contributor to better FE.

While on this trip crossed 30k kms on the odometer milestone, glad this happened on one of my longest road trips in the 328;

Silvassa is a part of Dadra & Nagar Haveli and not Gujarat, its a Union Territory. I was raised there and actually, there are 2 UT's of Daman and D&NH on the Maharastra, Gujarat border. (I'm sure you know this, sharing for others).

Here you can see the three states, Daman is on the left towards the sea and Silvassa is towards the right.

Did you take NH8-Left from Fountain-Ghodbundar-Airoli-Navi Mumbai-Expressway route? That's the one I used to always take.

I think he said this as its easier for people(with weak geography ) to locate the lesser known place. Its like people mentioning Chandigarh to be in Punjab which, actually, is a UT.

Also, his car's registration plate is DN. So I'm sure he knows the facts.

Of course, he does, but everyone keeps calling Silvassa a part of Gujarat and it's propagated a misunderstanding. Whenever I meet people and tell them I'm from Silvassa, they say oh it is in Gujarat right? And I have to correct them. Having grown up there and calling that place home means that little detail might have more significance to me even though it feels like an insignificant detail to you and him. But I mentioned this in (brackets) already.

Update: 2018 Annual Service (Odo Reading 30,400kms);

So it was finally time to get the Annual service done (as per iDrive), hence scheduled an appointment with Infinity BMW @ Turbhe, Navi Mumbai.

Arrived just around 10:30 am;



Once the job card opened, the car was taken in & was on the lift;



^ Visual inspection took place too, also a 4 tyre rotation was performed

Older oil being drained out;



New Oil Filter;



New Engine Oil being Poured in (5.2L)







Always a delight to see & click pictures of an clean engine bay;



Was out by around 2:30 pm, hence the total time spent at the workshop was about 4 hours.

Total work done was Engine Oil change, New Oil Filter, AC Micro Filter Cleaned, 4 tyre rotation done, High Pressure Wash & interior vacuuming.

Total Cost: INR 10,282/- (Inclusive of Labour & GST)

During the service surprisingly bumped into BHPian RajBajwa who had come to get his F30 320d serviced.

Special thanks to friend, BHPian & Technical Head BMW Infinity, Turbhe workshop Maverick5490 who made sure everything happened the way it should and on time
