I don't understand, my Getz Prime GVS CRDi came with a factory fitted dashboard (glovebox) lamp in 2009 when it was about to be discontinued, why doesn't Hyundai give the same in i20 and that even in Asta variant.

I don't get it Hyundai, considering that the customer has to get the entire dashboard opened to make this basic addition.

Coming back to FE, here are the latest numbers:
Qty - Cost - Distance - FE (Kmpl) - Cost (Rs/Km)
41.11 - 1650 - 738 - 17.95 - 2.24
22.9 - 1045 - 386 - 16.86 - 2.71
40.8 - 1860 - 708 - 17.35 - 2.63
39.5 - 1800 - 767 - 19.42 - 2.35
Thanks to the superb 750 Km per tankful I manage Chandigarh - Delhi and back (550 Kms) with enough juice to spare for a couple of local trips.
I bought my i20 sportz crdi in october 2012.
I have driven over 19000kms so far. But I am not getting more than 14kmpl. It mostly remains in the range of 12-14kmpl.
How to get better figures.

PS: I get a full tank every time I refuel. AC is on all the time engine is running.

Hi Abhijeet,

Judging from the mileage and your location, it seems you are using the car for long daily commutes in NCR which is known for stop and go traffic. You may also be pooling the vehicle with others passengers. Maybe that explains it.

My current usage summary:
Odo: 15,849 Km
Average FE: 18.28 Kmpl
Best Ever FE: 23.71 Kmpl
Worst Ever FE: 12.94 Kmpl
Average Fuel Cost per Km: Rs 2.59 (This is despite recent price hikes)
I use Fuel Log Pro for tracking fuel consumption. Sharing the detailed charts:

Chart 1: FE (Kmpl). A problem that I am facing is that of yo-yoing FE figures. Planning to report the same in my next service.

Chart 2: Fuel Price. Steady increase post UPA policy. Jagged movement explained by different prices in states depending upon tax rules.

Chart 3: Distance between fill ups.

Chart 4: Odometer graph. Car remained idle for some periods due to business travel.

Re: Hyundai i20 CRDI Asta

Snowhite is over an year old!

It is apt time to take stock and summarize my ownership experience –

What I love:

• Superb highway performance. Both silent cruising and overtaking power is in 6th gear. The power is usable thanks to the excellent Brakes and Lamps which inspire confidence and add to the safety factor.

• High attention to detail in the design. There are many small details one discovers over time, and i20 continues to delight me. This is a plus point over and above the equipment levels for which i20 is well known. Feature rich audio system with fair sound quality.

• Excellent boot space and shape. I can tell from practical experience as I have done many highway miles with 4 people and weekend luggage.

• Handsome looks and Premium Image. Good built quality.

What I wish was better:

• Poor ergonomics: Long gear shift travel and weird knob shape. Clutch pedal movement is inconvenient as foot tends to ‘climb’ with each depression. Made worse with low dashboard with fouls with left shin. This car is not friendly in stop and go traffic! I am not sure if all owners face this problem as it may be specific to my height (6’1”).

• Restricted field of view from ORVM.

• Flat 5th gear is not very usable. Performance is lacking over inclines where driving has to be in first or second gears only.

Re: Hyundai i20 CRDI Asta

I recently completed 2nd Free Service.

Odo: 17,373 Km

Date: 5th Oct 2013

Where: HMP, Mathura Road, New Delhi

Problems cited and resolution:

1. Reduced fuel efficiency. Standard change of fluids & filters + engine flush. ‘Super Charge’ oil additive also used. The SA informed that they ran the diagnostic using GScan, and there was no abnormality observed. Yet to put enough miles post service to judge the result. Lets see.

2. Car drifting to left side. Resolution offered was standard wheel balancing, alignment and rotation. I was not convinced but decided to go along with it. It seems to have worked … or atleast reduced the problem significantly. If the solution was a simple rotation of tyres, then it should have been done in the last service as well.

3. Left passenger power window switch not working. Replaced free under warranty and now functional.

4. Vibration in center RVM. Remains unresolved.

My current usage summary:

Odo: 17,470 Km
Average FE: 18.16 Kmpl
Best Ever FE: 23.71 Kmpl
Worst Ever FE: 12.94 Kmpl
Average Fuel Cost per Km: Rs 2.63

Hi Scarlet, my 2 free services cost me ~5,000 and ~3,800 respectively. The first one included 3M underbody treatment.

Re: Hyundai i20 CRDI Asta

> Got 3D mats @ Rs 1,100/- for the set of 3 pieces. Free-of-Cost Floor Mats given by the dealership were 3rd quality had worn out. Infact the driver side got torn pretty early and I was only dragging the replacement. I am quite pleased with the look though fitting could have been better in some corners. The material is plastic.

> Fuel efficiency has improved after the service, though decreased AC usage was also a factor. Completed my longest ever distance between top ups (790 Kms).

Current usage summary:

Odo: 18,901 Km
Average FE: 18.19 Kmpl
Best Ever FE: 23.71 Kmpl
Worst Ever FE: 12.94 Kmpl
Average Fuel Cost per Km: Rs 2.64

Re: Hyundai i20 CRDI Asta

I recently gave my car for a Hyundai Free Car clinic. The company basically cleans up the car and also performs a standard service check. For everything else there is a discount of 10% (parts and labour).

The 40K service is bit far off so decided to go for an oil change as well to keep the engine happy. Plus threw in alignment and balancing as well. Though expensive compared to market, I find the quality of wheel maintenance better at Hyundai official workshops.

There are no mechanical/electrical issues faced. The only concern is the original Apollo Accelere tyres; faced a puncture recently. I doubt they will last a kilometer beyond 40K. Appreciate if members can share tyre recommendations in OEM size.

The service record stands as follows:
  • 10916 Kms: Rs 5,200/- (10K service. Inclusive of underbody treatment)
  • 17373 Kms: Rs 3,80/- (Early 20K service)
  • 26891 Kms: Rs 11,275/- (Early 30K service. First 'paid' service. Inclusive 3M body treatment)
  • 33466 Kms: Rs 4026/- (Interim service during car clinic period)

Current usage summary:

Car: Hyundai i20 CRDI Asta 2012.
Mileage: 33106 km
  • Best FE ever = 24.71 Km/L (90% highway run)
  • Average FE = 18.09 Km/L (Typical Delhi<->Suburb commute)
  • Worst FE ever = 12.94 Km/L
  • Avg Cost per Km = Rs 2.78
  • Total Avg Cost per Km = Rs 3.96*

The average fuel cost per kilometer has decreased on account of reduced diesel prices.

*Total costs per kilometer includes costs of service, part replacement, tyre etc
