Re: Honda Amaze 1.5L Diesel : Driven

Looks like the media TDs are over. As usual, there is an embargo till Apr 01, 2013. We will get to know the official specs on the same day I believe.

Can you update which dealers are offering bookings for the Amaze and Ecosport and what you've paid as booking amounts for each? Thanks!

Re: Honda Amaze 1.5L Diesel : Driven

Saw a maroon colored Amaze in Goa last week. It had "UP" registered RED Plates on it. I was driving from Panjim to Palolem and i crossed us in opposite direction. From distance i first thought its a new Shade of Brio.

Last week was when the media drive happened. The car you saw was part of that - could have probably been one of our t-bhp mods at the wheel !

I can 100% confirm the engine specs (Diesel).

100 PS @ 3600 rpm
200 Nm @ 1750 rpm
Arai Rating - 25.8 kmpl

Also, contradictory to what someone had posted earlier about the petrol being 100 PS, it's the same Brio engine with 88 PS @ 6000 rpm.

25.8 Kmpl?
WOW!!!
That is all I have to say. Esp. considering that it pumps out 100 PS.
Honda is still the king of great engines I have to say!

25.8! ! ! ! ! Amazing!
Are you sure about this, as even I'd heard 100 ps & 200 nm figures, but not mileage.

Yes ! 100% sure

This would be under standard test conditions as they call it. I'd still expect regular driving mileage to be around the 18 kmpl mark similar to competition.

I'm more interested in NVH. How quiet have Honda managed to make the diesel ??

Coming to think of it, that makes it better than Indica, Chevy Beat and even Tata Nano! I hope on road real world figures are also high enough in 20+ range!

Was at Capital Honda, Chennai to service a friend's City. Tucked in a corner was this Amaze. Some pics and the model is petrol BTW.

Re: Honda Amaze 1.5L Diesel : Driven

That deep red colour looks really good. Even though the looks may not be to everyone's taste I still feel that the Amaze has styling elements that lend it some character. It does not look boring like the Etios/SAIL or outright quirky like the Dzire. The 2 sharp creases in the profile, the sharp cuts on the rear boot area make it stand out.

It's not good looking but gets a second look only cause of those styling elements.

Re: Honda Amaze 1.5L Diesel : Driven

The front end tries to match the CITY with its chromed tooth. Maybe the rear seat is a little cramped. Guess, HONDA would have the same GC for the gas and oil burners as the weight of the Diesel engine seems to be much lesser than the normal diesel engines around. A black color car with the chrome strips would be a great looker IMHO.

Looks exciting and i would definitely consider this for my upgrade.
Verito, sail ,dzire and amaze should be in same price range.
Only hoping that Honda doesn't get over confident and charge a premium which will make this car in the league of etios and likes of sunny. If they end up doing it, they are going jazz way

In short, price it below 9lakh on road in Bangalore and see sales of 5-7k

Re: Honda Amaze 1.5L Diesel : Driven

I have started to develop liking for Amaze! It would really look good on 15" wheels though.

Thank you for the pictures swiftdiesel, they came in right when the thread was discussing the new marooon shade

This is a question for both RavenAvi and you (and anyone else who has seen the production model of the Amaze) - has Honda covered up the ugly exposed metal door panels in the bottle storage areas on the door? I didn't like it at all in the Brio and even in the Brio Official Review and Viddy's Amaze review, the exposed metal inside the body (especially in bright colours like red) was criticised.
