Re: Skoda Laura VRS - Officially Unofficial Review and Initial Ownership Report

Congrats.
I just love the TSi engine. I would love to install the vRS spoiler on my regular TSi one day (of course I have taken it to the top speeds you have already mentioned and did not feel any loss of grip so always wondered if spoiler would really change anything). May be you are in the best position to comment as you have both cars (assuming you have not installed a spoiler on your regular TSi yet).

BTW, on the Kizashi thread people are going ga ga over that car (perhaps) going overboard saying Kizashi is the best driver's car for this kind of money. I am really curious, is it true, is it better than vRS??? Can someone put up a detailed comparo of both?

Cheers!

Spoiler on this car is just for looks. A real rear spoiler on a FWD car would spell disaster. Adds downforce on the wrong end. You want to make this care a bit more aerodynamics, add a functional front splitter, and a functional rear diffuser. None exists in the aftermarket for this car so its going to be a custom job.

The reason I didnt push the car beyond 180 was because of 1) new engine and 2) Concrete road on the Yamuna Expressway.

Heard a lot about the kizashi. Car comparo reviews are mixed on it. Don't know how good it it, as I am yet to race or drive one.

Lets be honest here.. there is NO COMPARISON between the two. :-) VRS is a good sporty car for Indian conditions. But its a tiny spec of windsheild dust when compared to the performance, capabilities and potential of the STI. Like comparing apples to a beetlenut, no point.

Hey prithwi, that's a COOL color on a very capable car! Congrats on your new purchase. We were looking forward to see the car during our meet last night, pity you couldn't join in...

Wish you happy mile crunching on your new possession...

PS: do you drive on mehrauli-badarpur road (essentially near qutub minar/ Saket) as I have seen this colored vRS in this area a couple of times.

Prithwi: I understand currently your RS is stock right? Any mods planned?

BTW still a little unclear on your final OTR cost. Could you clarify please?

I have been eyeing this car since launch, and still couldn't justify the 16.18L Ex Showroom price.. when it dropped to the current level, I jumped on the deal.
Is this a 2011 car? When did the price drop? Here they are quoting 19.56 OTR Mumbai for a 2012 car. Discount of Insurance plus 25K only.

Congrats Prithwi on the VRS. Always good to see people buying petrol cars these days. Just get a suspension like Bilstein B14 with the Milltek exhaust and a remap to see a dramatic difference in performance and handling.
How I wish the VRS was available when I got the Tsi!

Why does the suspension need to be changed to a Bilstein?

Oh it will go well past 200, don't worry about that Great review though, nice to see many other vRS owners. It seemed like it wasn't doing well in the beginning but now I am starting to see quite a few.

Well Prithwi mentioned getting springs at Pete's for his car. Pete's being a Bilstein dealer in India and the stock suspension (OEM) in the Laura being Bilstein B4, upgrading to a better setup like the B14 seems like a logical upgrade.

Re: Skoda Laura VRS - Officially Unofficial Review and Initial Ownership Report

Nice report! I just love the shade of Blue on your car. I still can't figure why Blue isn't so popular as i've only seen a handful of Laura's & Superb's in this shade.

I wish Skoda offered a diesel vRS with the power upped to 170bhp!

Re: Skoda Laura VRS - Officially Unofficial Review and Initial Ownership Report

Fabulous report and that blue is simply mindblowing and is slowly becoming popular as a few other manafacturers have started offering this color

This would have been the color I would have picked if available in a Cruze

Nice to know you experienced an STi ( my ertwhile most popular car) now its a GTR

My dream garage would be a Cruze (Blue), Laura RS (yellow) and an STi (White) and GTR (Red)

First two for daily commute and last two for weekend track days

Look forward to more pics of your car

Drive Safe !!!
