Many tell that the plastics in the Sunny/Scala are good.Renault would have messed up some pigments while sticking the renault diamond on the steering wheel.

Looks like a defect to me too

Did a drive on the NH8 entoute Silvasa (DNH)

The journey one way is aprox 170 kms

The FE achieved was a staggering 24 km/l



NH8 returned slightly less FE comparing to my previous run on the EE Hwh (From pune) where i got 27.1 km/l ;

10,000 kms done

Have booked an appointment of the 2nd service for tomorrow @ Gen Next (Ghodbunder, Thane)

While booking up the appointment i asked how much amount will be charged they said Rs 3000-3500/-,
But then they put me on hold & said there was a mistake the amount earlier quoted 3-3,500 is for Duster but for Scala it is aprox Rs 6,500/-

Why the difference when the engines are same (also in same state of tune i.e. 85hp) & same job is to be done (oil change etc)

Plz help !!!

^^ That's actually pretty cheap. Doesn't the Scala use synthetic oil? Replacing that itself easily costs 3-4K in the VW AG cars, for example.

Shouldn't the recommendation be same for both? Its the same engine and same state of tune (well almost... A difference of I think 2 bhp)

Yes the oil is pretty cheap i.e aprox Rs 1400 for 4.5 L (thanks to their tie up with "ELF")

But they just informed me that some parts like diesel filter, air filter also needs a change (which apparently in Duster not required) so more amount than the Duster (i am still amused)

Will get the exact split up tomorrow.

Also no cheque payment

I don't know what's happening here but my Sunny got serviced for Rs 1500. And everything was covered under it. Maybe the dealer want's to take a toll on you. And please take a check on the steering colour fade and I hope they get it changed under warranty.

Service Experience was overall satisfactory.

My driver was present on the shopfloor throughout the service time span.

His key observations were that the Renault service team was new & in-experienced. The high pressure washer had stopped working around lunch time & my driver was asked if it is OK to take the vehicle without washing (to which my driver refused). There were some Duster owners which were complaining about back pain while driving their Dusters.

Update: Break squeak

Its 12,600 kms on the odo & my breaks are squeaking

^^ Karan it may just be a thin layer of rust on the brake disks, or a small stone lodged between the pad and the disc.

Try braking quite hardly from about 50 km/h or so a few times. Should be sorted.

Its persistent since 2-3 days now.

Got back from pune yesterday and the squeaks getting more louder & lasts longer.

Will send in the car for a check up @ Renault's service centre @ ghodbunder tomorrow.

Im sure the brake pads are not covered under warranty but what about discs ?

Any pointers anyone ?

Car had been busy last week so couldnt send for check up.

Finally talked to the service advisor couple of hourse back & scheduled the check up @ 3 pm today

As scheduled sent the car to service center on Saturday.

Apparently there was a lot of dust & small pebble like stoned trapped between the brake pads & disc. Which was cleaned & re-fitted back & tested OK.

However i was away to Delhi for a couple of days & when the car came to pick me up at the airport i noticed minor squeaks were back in just 3 days

Need to schedule another check up in this week itself.
