Hey,

Well towards nashik i found heavy traffic right from before hitting the highway & on the highway as well so had to downshift then redline then upshift etc + towards Nashik there is the Kasara ghat (so uphill) so FE dropped considerably for that reason too.

While returning around mid afternoon the highways were empty & was driving majorly in top gear & hardly redlined for any overtaking tasks coz there were hardly any vehicles to overtake & then the ghat was a downhill ease.

Hence that explains, no typos

Thanks. That explains. Initially I was wondering if the variation can be that high! Bumper to bumper traffic and 100% AC can bring down the FE. I use the same KPK motor and with a similar state of tune (Duster 85). But I time my city drives such that FE remains pretty much 17+. I guess some times we are left with no options! But all said and done the KPK is a fantastic motor.

Did a small experiment during the PUC check & certification.

The smoke density reading before the service was around 28%

After service (thanks to oil change etc) the smoke density reduced to exactly half @ 14%

So much for saving the Planet

^ A pic from NH8.

Ferrying me in comfort & style, a perfect chauffeur driven car for interstate runs. This recent Gujarat run reassured me i bought the perfect car for being chauffeur driven in at this price point

Hello BHPians,

Sorry for no updates here or my other threads.

Im getting Married next week & so have been busy with all the preparations etc.

In the meanwhile the car has crossed 50k kms on the odometer and is running as good as new.

The only major update i have is that have got a new set of tires last week & they are the newly launched CONTINENTAL MAX CONTACT 5.

^ Shall come in with a report & pics shortly

Hey Karan, congrats!!! Wish you a very happy married life!

Regarding the tyres, I put the same tyre in my Sunny. I went in for the Michelin XM2 at the stock szie 185 65 R15 but the salesman convinced me to go for the Conti Max Contact 5 195 60 R15 instead. While I feel it's good, I still couldn't be sure if the Michelin would have been better. I plan to go for that in my Civic next time.

Finally a pic of the Contis;

Travel Business Class : My Renault Scala EDIT: Sold after 4+ years and 95000 km!-imageuploadedbyteambhp1427973308.192908.jpg

I highly recommend this tyre for anyone looking for a comfort / touring spec use.

It is also a great replacement against the earlier Michelin Primacy LCs & does justice in terms of equalising the comfort, performance & handling of the Michelins with an added advantage of being a little extra "rugged" in comparison to Michelins.

Let me know if any more questions about this tyre

Great ownership log. Good to see you are enjoying your car.

Can you please comment on the cars ground clearance. Does the belly scrap on potholes or breakers?

I think the ground clearance is 165 mm.

Though the car has a loong wheelbase but thankfully it doesnt scrape with 4-5 people on board. BUT yes with 5 people + luggage you have to be careful on those nasty speed breakers.

Belly scraping on potholes ? NEVER
