Hi @AB@TVMBHP

Congrats for the new car...
IMO SMT is the best buy amongst all Honda varaints, generally. Coming to your low mileage, I feel it is the traffic jam, that you were struck in, caused the lowly figures. It would soon surpass your Fluence, being a lighter & slightly less powerful car. Few other Amaze owners are already reporting Amazing mileage numbers of their diesel cars, & so should be your case in few more days.

Enjoy your ride without looking at the MID.

Don't worry about the figures.
I live in delhi and have to bear heavy traffic and lot of red lights.
Initially my average didn't cross 12 but now it is 16(1 MONTH) and has increased linearly. People here have reported around 19 in city and even >25 at highways. Just keep a look at eco light for better FE.
BTW your fluence is giving excellent figures given it's length and other features!

Please do not worry.
I have got an amazing 28kmpl on moderate traffic.

The problem in you car is that you would not have reset the trip meter before you got the car delivered.

Amaze calculates kmpl from trip meter reading only.

When I got my car delivered, it was reading 7.6kmpl. It is OK because there would have been much more pre delivery inspection and paper works done when car was idling...

Next time set the trip meter before your trip.

I am sure that you will be having a big smile on your face which stretches from kanniyakumari to Kashmir...

I knew it dude... I have been there with that smile...

Regards,
Guru.

Thank you all for your suggestions..
@amazingguru67- yes as you said i have not reset the tripmeter at the time of delivery. It was showing 5.9 at that time but slowly it climbed. As you all said i am also hoping for an amazing smile as i have with my fluence. Its clocked 38k km in 1.5yrs and its a real treat with its fe as well as handling and ride combo.

VX(D)
500km
Medium to heavy traffic(New Delhi)
16kmpl
Many Thanks for sharing the details.

Can someone help me with an issue with my new Honda Amaze (Petrol) - SMT. I have driven 1250+ kms since I took the delivery (4th August). My average on highway is 16-18 kmpl. This average comes down drastically to 8kmpl in Mumbai traffic . What could be the reason for such a big difference.

Did you reset the trip meter after receiving car?
Good economy can be achieved by keeping rpms low. Keep them below 2000 and also see if eco light is on.

One of these reasons might affect your kmpl.

1) Mumbai traffic... I have been in Mumbai for 2 years and I hate it in monsoons and traffics.

2) Your way of driving... what was your previous car? If it's a Maruti, you might have used to revving the engine hard. Honda's engine loves to revv hard but the thing is that a Honda should be driven gently with light foot because of it's immense torque across rpms.

3) Your fuel quality. Try filling from a different filling station. Probably from a company owned one.

4) Of all the above reasons, the main thing would be setting your engine. Drive cautiously for the first 2000kms. You will definitely reap its benefits latter.

Happy revving...

Guru.

How does this Eco light exactly work in amaze?

It's simple.
ECO light is for maximizing FE.
FE can be maximized by driving the car in proper gear and rpm and keep race pedal light footed.
As you drive, when your rpms are in range of 1500-1800, ECO light glows up showing that your style of driving is efficient. If you put hard foot on race pedal and increase rpms i goes off.
ECO light can be used as gear shift indicator when driving linearly. Consider on a certain gear the light shows up and when it goes off, shift your gear and it comes back immediately(personal experience). It generally goes off when rpms touch 2000.

re: Review: 1st-gen Honda Amaze (2013)

I own a 3300 km driven Honda Amaze EMT (diesel).. the average kmpl displayed in MID is continously on a higher side. For instance, MID displays 22kmpl for the trip but while checking tank to tank method it came out to 20 kmpl (multiple occasions). This is a design flaw.

@panky12345; Most Honda kpl indicators are 10-15% optimistic.

Most MID displays are optimistic. My Rapid and Jetta also show 10% more on the MID than the tankful calculation. It's not a design flaw as such.

..but I remember DerAlte's post somewhere he told that the MIDs are accurate to the core. Ironical?

This stylish looking ganesha entered my car on ganesh chadurti.

Attachment 1137331

This is how amaze looks on the inside.

Attachment 1137332

And yet again, my Amazing amaze gave me 26+kmpl figures... For a trip of around 160kms in moderate traffic.

I don't care if it is being optimistic or not...
At the end of the day, it will definitely give 20+ in real world scenario. I can live with it.
