My Vento TDi too faced injector wrath. First on 25 Feb 2014 wherein injector 1 & 4 failed, 200 kms away from home. Replaced under extended warranty. Later on 12 July 2014, injector 2 & 3 gave way within city. Replaced under extended warranty.

You can read complete story here. Do have popcorn tub with you.

Lastly on 25 Jan 2015, fuel solenoid valve gave away while 250 kms away from home. Had to flat bed for which I had to shell out 18,000 as VW Ahmednagar was not able to resole issue.

But, it's been almost 3 years since injector replacement and 2 years since fuel solenoid valve change. Car has been doing all good.

Did a 2200 km road trip end of December'16 wherein I did 901 kms in one single day Gir to Navi Mumbai. Car is performing well and is a hoot to drive.

Finally I skipped fuel filter replacement last year and would be getting it done this year.

Thanks for correcting me. Your's is one extensive review; I vaguely remember you doing injector replacement from a different service center than the one it was diagnosed.

Oh, and skipping the fuel filter did cost me big. Did they update anything regarding the emission scandal?

Yes. Injector 1 & 4 were replaced at B.U.Bhandari Pune but were refitted by Autobahn Automotive Navi Mumbai; as BUB did a shoddy work. Later 2 & 3 were replaced by Autobahn Automotive Navi Mumbai again. Fuel solenoid work done by them as well.

I still doubt fuel filter would cause such trouble. VW replacement time is 15,000 kms or 7,500 kms for high sulphur content. Mine did only 3,000 km in a year, so skipped it last year.

No update is out for 1.6 TDi. Only for 1.5 and 2.0 TDi. Most have reported for higher fuel economy. But engine grasps for breath and power delivery isn't as potent. Some of the owners went in for a remap post dieselgate update.

I would still wait and TD an updated 1.6 TDi before I get it done. Don't want the beast to be tamed in any way.
