Well, your power window work done is great and neat looking. Plus, it would not be troublesome (operating of windows) because you got it done at MASS. I think the price would be no less than 10k at MASS for all 4 windows. Also, as seen in your pictures, the assembly of switches is at a different place and comes on the armrest itself on V/Z variants. Would it be possible to change the armrest panel with one of a V/Z variant?

@Loud: I have brought the new wheel caps of the same brand (Prigan) that shows in your attached picture. These seem to be of better quality than other cheap ones. These costed Rs.750/- for a set of four. I will checkout for Swift wheel covers from aftermarket shops.
I will enquire about the Ritz power windows and let you know.
Since I want to paint my rims to black color, do you know if we can use the standard oil paint (black color) from hardware shops or is there a one specially to be applied on cars? |
According to you, the wheel covers you have got are of the new Swift itself. The picture I posted was of the New Swift only. So you would not be able to get any other design, if you enquire exact Swift wheel covers. Why use such oils if you're not sure? Get them powder coated at some paint/body work shop. They charge very less for painting the wheels. I read a review of the 2013 Ritz LXi where the owner had got all 4 wheels painted for Rs. 300/- only.

Exactly. Work done at MASS will be better and if an issue crops up it can be rectified without an issue.
The power windows look similar to ones on the old WagonR (2008 model) that had power windows only for the front doors. Talking about powering all 4 windows then you can use the arm rest of the V/Z variants. Since Alex had installed only for the front the power window holder has been taken from the old WagonR.
Expect the cost to be between 9-11K for
Cheers,
Anurag.

The holder for 2 front power windows is from WagonR 2008, I agree.
But, in a Maruti Ritz 2013 Ownership thread (Link to post:
Click here), the owner has mentioned that if we get 4 power windows, the front holder will remain the same as the 2 power window holder (from WagonR) and they will add 2 more holders (similar to front passenger holder) for the rear windows and MOST IMPORTANTLY the driver will not be able to control all 4 power windows and will only have control of front 2 windows.
He also said that the price would be double for all 4 windows (i.e. around 12k) for Ritz.
Also, he chose front 2 power windows and the holder is same as shown in alexpaul's post.
Thanks!

But that is vague. It is better to have control of all for power windows. It is not practical and is silly.
Why not get a V variant arm rest and get control. Will enquire here in MASS just for the sake.
Anurag
@Alexpaul: Thank you for the power window snaps. If I will do it, it will only be from MASS.
@a4anurag: Thanks for the paint advice. Will do it from a car-body painting guy. (powder-paint).

Oh, that's nice. Rs. 300/- is quite cheap. Do you have the link to that ownership review, luckily if that member is from Bangalore, then I can get the exact address and contact of the paint workshop. Thank you so much Loud!

Always welcome mate. :thumbs up

Firstly, congratulations on the silver Ritz! I have the VXi variant of the same and can well relate to your joy.
But as for the Power windows, i do not understand why will they retrofit Wagon R power windows and that too for the front windows!
Ritz has power windows for all four windows in the VXI variant. Way can't they retrofit that in the LXi model?
But Satsang, if you are fitting fog lights and power windows, why did you not go for the VXI originally? If it is about Vitamin M deficiency, I can fully understand. BUt i had previously though of getting and LXI with the Dazzle package, but changed opinion because of the power window and fog light issue. Retrofitting them would cost me more than the price diff between LXi and VXI.

There you go:
http://www.theautomotiveindia.com/fo...xperience.html
But the problem is, the member hasn't mentioned his place (his location says India) plus he is not a member of Team BHP. The thread is from 'The Automotive India' forum. Do consider registering there to ask him his place and the shop. BUT Do not leave T BHP! stupid:
Anyway, quoting what he said:

I think the wheelcaps (ritz design w/o the suzuki logo as they r aftermarket) which costed 600 and the painted rims ( costed 300) look OK for now.
I can still think of going in for swift/dzire wheelcaps which look slightly better.

Silly?? I can only think of the Volkswagen Vento Trendline when you said silly as that car has exactly this setup although it is as is from the factory:uncontrol.
@Satshan
I too have an LXi trim and got power window before taking delivery of the car. The front two switches costed approx Rs.4,700/ IIRC. It clearly makes more sense to go in for only front power windows as the rear windows will have individual controls and there won't be any control on the driver's side for the rear windows.
Regarding painting your wheels go, just go to any tyre dealer who deals with alloy wheels and swap your steel wheels for black steel wheels. They have a large stock of these and most of them get rid of these at a throw away price + since you are exchanging your wheels I reckon they will charge you a negligible amount.

Thanks S2 for your advice. The front 2 switches seem to be cheap when you did it. When I enquired it at MASS in the year 2012, they said its Rs. 7000/- for front ones only.
Reg. black steel wheels: That means I have to get them replaced with black rims all-together? The current ones on the car are just 1.5 years old, while the ones that they will replace with may be quite older. Don't you think they can cheat me with some old stuff that is 3-4 years old?

Hi satshan, just my 2 cents.
Do not replace with older rims, as they may have been rough used and may have slight bend. We may never be able to identify visually. On the other hand, painting the rims black wilk mean you'll have to remove the tyres. Painting may cost a few bucks and for removing & re-fitting the 5 tyres with balancing & alignment will take another 1500 to 2000. IMHO, I feel its not worth it to spend around 3000 for the same rims, which is not going to drastically improve the looks anyway.
Better option would be to live with the existing rims and if and when your finances permit, you can look for a good set of alloys.
Or even look if you could get some almost new OEM alloys which someone might change as soon as they buy the Zxi/Zdi. Some people buy the top variant for the features and immediately change alloys to their taste. You can get it for around 70% of the rate quoted in showroom for the same set.
I had the choice to buy a few figo/fiesta classic OEM alloys that were very new. I dint buy them because I went for a bigger size alloy than the OEM set.

NO. Painting the wheels would not require the removal of tyres. The wheels would be removed and the car will be jacked up. The tyres will be masked with some tape/newspapers to prevent paint spilling to the tyres. The wheels will be sprayed on the outer side (since the inner side is NOT silver, it is already black) and the masking tape will be removed. You are ready to go. Balancing and Alignment will take at most 700/- (here it is 550/-) and the total expense would be 1000 bucks at max. Well, let us not count balancing and alignment since it would also be done if you don't paint the wheels. It is a common expense for everyone. stupid:

Do not go for old rims, please. First, you don't know how old those would be. Second, they might be damaged/defected/bent/broken and if you miss the damage while buying them, then you will lose both your rims, the stock ones as well as the new ones (second hand).
Better get your wheels painted.
Have a look at this thread:
DIY : Painting my Mondeo wheels black
The wheels shown here are alloys but the process would be the same. It is clearly shown that the tyres will be masked and NOT removed.
The simplest way to turn your rims black would be to buy some spray cans of black lacquer paint from any hardware / paint store. Readily available. Just spray it properly over the area you want to cover black. I.e. the outside part of the rim only. Rest I think can be left as it is in OEM silver. The sprays I think cost around 200-300 apiece. Colour finish is good and lasts long.

Thank you Reinhard. Yes, i think that's the name I need to tell the hardware store guy. But can it be sprayed painted by us simply or need an expert on it?

Thank you Swami.n. I will not replace the older rims and I understand the reasons behind it. But I also agree with Loud, we don't need to remove the tyres for this paint job since I don't want to paint the rim completely. Again this will attract balancing & alignment charges. Its only the external part of the rim (on which we fit the wheel-caps) that needs to be painted to enhance its looks.
