Hey Naveen,

I glad to know that you are happy with the Ecosport.

I am surprised to note that Mrf tyre has a sidewall cut. Could you please post pictures ?

Which Mrf tyre was it ? Is it ZV2K or Wanderer ?

Go for a Mrf again for the spare, dont waste money.

After you complete 30K kms you can swap the entire set to BS Turanza ER 60 or BS MY 02.

I once drove over a red brick at a speed of 80kmph accidentally. No cuts or bulges on the Turanzas.

Stay away from Michelin or Yoko if sidewall strength is priority.

Unfortunately, I do not have any pictures of the sidewall crack. Michelin got soft sidewall but Yokohama got pretty stiff one especially S Drives.I have used two sets of S drives on my swift. I checked out BS MY02 and their latest tyre. Am waiting to hear reviews on Yoko Earth 1 tyres before making my move. No way I'm buying MRF again. I tried to get a free replacement but unfortunately, Ford and MRF rejected it. Once the product is sold, customer is all alone - absolutely no support. That's what i came to know after this experience.

Am using BS MY01 on the vento for past 16k and MY02 on the Linea for 12k kms and can vouch for the all rounded nature of these tyres. I received my ecosport with pathetic MRF and had to change to GY Assurance since MY02 were put of stock everywhere, else it was my first choice. MY series is low on comfort but provides oodles of grip, noise is controlled and there is a big plus on durability side.

I personally feel that tough tyres suit ecosport more than tyres with soft sidewalls as its a car with high GC and one tends to be careless over rough roads, heck that is what the car is meant for.

Hi naveen,
I have Yokos on mine, they are fantastic and I have detailed them in my thread.
Hope it will be helpful.

Re: Ford EcoSport 1.5D Titanium - Owner's Log of the Beauty, or the Beast?

Mileage Update:

Till now the average was hovering around 12-13kmpl in 100% city traffic with 100% ACC. I used to enjoy the turbo during this time and touched 2.5k rpm. Then decided to drive with a very light foot. Drove for around 48kms in city and the mileage on the MID showed 14.9kmpl. Occasionally I take the rpm to 2.5k to enjoy the turbo but majority of the ride will be light footed. Seems good and improving. Odo stands at 4800kms

Re: Ford EcoSport 1.5D Titanium - Owner's Log of the Beauty, or the Beast?

5000 kms Update:

Ford EcoSport 1.5D Titanium - Owner's Log of the Beauty, or the Beast?-20140111_100842.jpg

Exactly after 4 months, my car clocked 5k kms. Decided to get the wheel balancing and alignment done. Also, the busted tyre was patched up since I thought it's a waste going in a new spare tyre. After all, I would be changing to a different brand in couple of years.

Some notes after 5k kms:
1) Suspension improving - takes bad roads well but still have that thud feel when going over rough potholes.
2) Tyre pressure - 35psi. Feels better now.
3) Steering feels better - Maybe due to the alignment.
4) Enjoying the turbo band and I do take it to 3.5k rpm and beyond at times. But not all good as Swift.

Some mileage readings observed during the recent run:
1) 100% AC with heavy foot - Mileage is around 13kmpl in city
2) 100% AC with light foot - Mileage is around 16-17kmpl in city
3) 100% AC with light and heavy foot - Mileage is around 15kmpl in city

Busted tyre out for patch work:

After patch work - 750 INR

Avg I got today morning on my way to work. Rush hour traffic

Re: Ford EcoSport 1.5D Titanium - Owner's Log of the Beauty, or the Beast?

Cochin - Pala - Wagamon - Kuttikanam and back. A 300km drive through the ghat section.
Tyre pressure - 35psi
Average mileage - 14.7kmpl
ACC - 22 (95% of the time)

The car performed really well and most of the time it involved some spirited driving (gear change between 3-3.5k rpm). After increasing the tyre pressure, I felt it took the bad roads really well. Power was adequate but at times struggled while overtaking on an uphill climb. Headlight performance was really bad and now I realize it's time for an upgrade.

Odo stands at 6085kms

As always, camera wonders from vaisakhr. A small doubt, in the picture showing the instrument cluster, the '0' marking on the fuel gauge looks chopped off on the corner, is it like that or is it because of the angle of photograph.

Have a look at the first pic of the same post.

It's the angle.

The dealer recommended 30 psi for all tyres, based on which I filled them last time around. A friend of mine was advised to fill 32 psi for front and 30 psi for rear by another SA.

You are suggesting 35 psi.

Now I am a bit lost Have you tried other tyre pressures before settling in on 35 psi ?

Re: Ford EcoSport 1.5D Titanium - Owner's Log of the Beauty, or the Beast?

The first real highway trip

Cochin - Bangalore - Cochin

Total kms - 1300.5
Mileage - 15.2kmpl (MID)
Odo reading - 9180kms

The car performed really well. The steering weighed during high speed cruising and the car was planted on the road. In the Perundurai - Blore stretch , the car was cruising at 120km/hr most of the time. While cruising at 120km/hr, the rpm was at 2.5k and the instantaneous mileage reading was hovering at 15-17kmpl. Above that and the mileage drops below 15. Had a chance to test the ABS at few occasions and it did a good job but MRF is pathetic. Jumped a few speed breakers and the high GC played its role here. Overall, an excellent cruiser but really miss the 6th gear.

Mod Note : Team-BHP strongly discourages unsafe driving practices that put yourself and other road users at risk. Please do NOT post about illegally high speeds on public roads.

We advise you to read the Forum Rules before proceeding any further.
