re: Got Fortune'd: White Toyota Fortuner Edit: Sold!

Guys,

A small irritant- I hear a vibrating noise(grrrrr....) from the left side of the cabin/door/seat when you push the car on higher gear with out down shifting. As the rpm picks up, this sound vanishes.

Any suggestions?

re: Got Fortune'd: White Toyota Fortuner Edit: Sold!

Hi Folks,

Some quick updates for/from BOSS:

1. Fog lamps and High beam bulbs upgraded OSRAM Night breaker+, thanks to the motivation from BIBIN and Amolpol. The high beam spread and reach is much better than the stock, for sure!

2. The parking lamp bulbs are upgraded to Philips T10 LED's and they compliment well with the low beam HID's.

3. Did a ~500km round trip to Srisailam and back from Hyderabad with family on the onset of the Sankranthi vacation for children. I have touched ~160kmph speeds briefly and the ride kept to its ground well. The car is very stable and even on sharp braking keeps to the straight line without giving any goose pimples. No complaints on the ride quality from the passengers, so smiles around

Had the car washed and cleaned at 3M, Madhapur, Hyderabad. Great service, as always!

The mileage continues to be around 10kmpl(with a/c) with not much change for now.

Some recent snaps for viewing pleasure!

re: Got Fortune'd: White Toyota Fortuner Edit: Sold!

Having couple of leave days during Sankranthi means some time well spent on the BOSS! I have cleaned the interiors and washed the car, as well. It was good exercise indeed.

This was resolved at ASC with some double tape trick applied to the portion where airbag cover meets the dash board. This was ably sorted out due to the advice given by Ahmed of the Megalodon fame!!

Some pictures from today's cleaning 'exercise' for your viewing pleasure!

re: Got Fortune'd: White Toyota Fortuner Edit: Sold!

a belated congrats on the fortuner.

great car and great updates. i've been a huge fan of the fortuner and am keenly following your thread.

jus a query: how do you find the wooden portion of the steering wheel? is it comfortable to hold and operate? what about with sweaty hands?

i found this not so pleasant during a test drive.

and is ti possible to remove the wooden bit?

happy motoring.

It's not possible to remove the wooden part of the steering wheel. Btw, I am not sure if that's made of wood. Although driving is not a problem with that I wouldn't give 5 stars to the steering wheel. I would definitely go with a full leather steering wheel if it was provided as an option.

Faux wood it is.

I feel it would slip if not held properly but that is a matter of getting used to.

Either add a steering cover (Full leather) or change the steering wheel

Option 2 difficult so option 1 is the only choice.

Hi Differential,

Thanks for your wishes. Appreciate your interest in my thread!

The black insert is a faux wood one like Anurag rightly mentioned earlier.

I too found it not to my liking intially, but now am used to it and it does not slip on sweaty hands. On the contrary it is a good grip sensing differentiator for full turns(makes us know to what extent the steering has been put on a turn as our hands move from the faux wood area to the regular steering grip area!).

Do not worry too much as nothing goes into this car by Toyota which is normally considered a 'waste'

Are you backing Toyota or telling it honestly?

By my standards of what I have seen in your car it is made perfectly, I mean no thing placed/made is of no use to the car. It is a well engineering car, oops Truck.

Hi Anurag,

No backing Toyota, you can see my list of improvements couple of pages earlier in this thread

Toyota cars are good on utility value and long term reliability.

Toyota's are kings overall but for the OTR sticker that the Fortuner bears.

If that sticker price is brought down then mind you that car will sell like the 'Swift' of the SUV segment, not that it sells less now but still.

May be they do not want Fortuner's to be Swifts!! Agree on the double with you on the OTR price, it can be desirable with 4-5 lakhs reduction.

I am happy that Toyota are keeping the Fortuner to be a Fortuner and not a Swift else we will have less place to drive as the T-Fort will occupy more of the road

If they drop the sticker price the value the car demands shall be lost.
