The cooling is fine however, once I set the temperature more than the ambient temperature, while the passenger side heats up, the driver side remains cool. Anyone any inputs on this issue?
Try doing an AC reset. Just google it up, you will find several videos. All it does is open up all flaps and blow air through all the vents.

No harm in trying.

Thanks. I had tried that multiple times. No result. But it was a nice thing to know that such a thing exists. I wonder what other shortcuts are there in the Octy.

Re: Review: Skoda Octavia (3rd-gen)

Can anyone tell me what's the front strut diameter for the Octavia 3 we have here (1.8TSI, MY2016)? Where can one find this information? It's either 50mm or 55mm, but which one?

Did I say it was faster than almost 95% of the car that I have encountered on my route

Finding a replacement was the most uphill task and with some compromise decided to upgrade. New ride coming soon.
It would be interesting to know what did you upgrade to. I understand that it'll be a difficult decision, keeping in view the current car options and the successor needs to match up to the best. Hope it was not too much of a compromise.

Upgraded to 330Li. That’s the only car that I could find as an upgrade. But still had to compromise on boot space. It was a very tough decision to let go off Octavia, such a great car it is.

Re: Review: Skoda Octavia (3rd-gen)

I have two queries on my 2015 Octavia 2.0tdi, the first one is a bit weird and I’m not able to find out what might be the issue.

1. On a recent drive to Chennai from bangalore, the AC stopped cooling midway during the drive. The fan started blowing warm air and there was no cooling.
Then I drove for a while with the AC and fan completely switched off, after like 20 mins since it was too hot I decided to just keep the only the fan on. This went on for maybe 10-15mins.
Then when I turned on the AC, it started working and cooling again as if there was no issue.
No issues faced while in chennai for 2-3 days and on the way back. its almost been a month and i haven't encountered anything again.

2. I have yokohoma earth1 in the stock size which has done around 15k kms. i would like to change them to Verdestien ultrac in the same size.
need your suggestions on this tyre or should I stick to a new set of earth1's.
The roads in my part of bangalore are very bad and I need to go thru a very bad patch of dug up road every time I take the car out of my house.
I don’t think this will be repaired any time soon.

PS - the existing tyres will be shifted onto my Polo GT which is running the same size and I lost a tyre due to a big cut which could not be repaired.

Sounds like https://www.team-bhp.com/forum/techn...e-50-kmph.html (Strange issue: AC stops cooling above 50 kmph)

Get the above bits checked. I had the same issue with my Aveo and some sub-parts (forgot) needed to be changed.

Regarding No.1 below, it happens to me. Many instances of losing compressor when on highway. After about 30 mins of stop and start, cooling is good.
Checked with service centre multiple times. All systems ok.

Bewildered!

Re: Review: Skoda Octavia (3rd-gen)

Hello, good folks of teambhp. I need some help figuring out why my 2015 Octavia TDI is giving me low fuel efficiency. I'm getting anywhere between 5-9 kmpl in city driving in Bangalore and around 17-19 on highways. The latter seems decent but the city numbers seem way below what my friends with Octavias and Jettas are getting.
In the city, I can almost feel a sluggish pull when I'm in lower gears. And when I've taken my foot off the accelerator, the engine braking seems too eager to slow the car down.
For background, the car has run 1.6L. I bought it around 5 months back secondhand. Changed the flywheel, engine mounts, wheel dents were removed, aligned and balanced, full service was done with fuel, oil air filter changes, gear box oil was inspected and topped up.
The previous owner mentioned that he had changed the timing belt and water pump roughly 70k km ago.

I met up with @bsilver last weekend and he ran a bit of diagnostics. Turbo performance seems to be good. One thing that stood out was that the fuel pressure was lagging behind the ECU specified value. PFA graph.

When @bsilver cleared the short term fuel trims, on my drive back in the city, I was getting 12.5 Kmpl. This was much higher than the usual and the car seemed eager to start moving in the lower gears as soon as my foot was off the brake. Not sure if this was just placebo. I didn't get a chance to check again since I was away for work for a week or so. Got back this week, driving around, back to square 1. 5-8 Kmpl in city (albeit start stop traffic) I got 17.5 on late night drive to airport, which compared to others, seems lower.

Occasionally, while driving, I get the error "only leave vehicle in position P, please visit workshop" but it comes on for a second and goes away. Not sure if this is doing anything.

Also, the timing belt stretch was measured at 3.98°.

Any ideas on where I should start looking for solves?

Re: Review: Skoda Octavia (3rd-gen)

Hi All,
I came across 2 issues with my Octavia 1.8 TSI which I purchased in Nov-2019. The car completed ~32000 kms by now.
The first issue was in Dec-2023. I was trying to start the car after a short break on the highway. The engine did not respond to the push button start. The display showed a message as low battery. The car never showed warnings of low battery voltage earlier and it happened all of a sudden. The car was not under RSA, hence I did not think of attempting to tow the car to the workshop. The nearest Skoda workshop was 300 kms away. The issue with the car appeared to be low battery from the warning message. The original battery supplied with the car was Varta (12V 72Ah 380A DIN) and it was more than 4 years of usage by then. I tried to find a battery matching the specs over phone and online. The closest match I could find was the was Amaron Pro (574102069) with 12V and 74 Ah. I confirmed the compatibility of this battery for Octavia from Skoda technicians over phone before ordering the battery. I placed the order with authorized Amaron agency over phone and their technician came and replaced the battery. The engine did not respond to push button start soon after changing the battery. I tried starting the car after waiting for nearly 15 minutes and it started working fine. Everything went smooth for nearly 2 months. I had obtained a RSA policy from Skoda after this incident.

The second issue was encountered in the next month (last week of Jan-2024) while I was driving back home from city. All of a sudden the warning lights started appearing one by one on the display. ABS, ESC, Power steering, Park Pilot warnings appeared (When this happened I was having both the remote keys inside the car. I used to keep either both the keys or a spare key battery along with the car as the key battery lost charge in very short period of time in one of the earlier occasions). By the time I drove for another 5 kms the steering started to feel very tight. I managed to reach home safely and parked the car. I had shared this issue in this forum earlier and it appeared to be a faulty ABS sensor issue as per most members.

I could not send the car to the service centre very soon after the incident due to some personal financial constraints. I also wanted to change both the front tyres in the next workshop visit and preferred to go for the same when I send the car for repair related to sensor issue. Hence I kept the car with me for few months. I used to drive the car for 4-5 kms at low speed every week. After nearly a month, all the warning signs disappeared from the display. The complaint still persisting is the tightness of the steering. Another issue was I had to press the stop button twice to turn off the engine on few occasions.

I sent the car on flat bed through RSA to Skoda workshop last week of September. As I mentioned the errors were no more appearing on the display. They had run the VCDS scan and found errors like very low voltage in the remote key-2 and listed a power steering protocol event.

As per the scan and previous error history, the experienced technician at Skoda reported that the non-genuine car battery (which I replaced in Dec-23 with slightly different specs, 74 Ah against 72 Ah) was not supplying the right voltage to the electronics and that caused the errors and related issues. They associated the occasional requirement of pressing the push button twice for turning off the engine to the very low voltage of remote battery as shown in the scan. In their opinion, replacement of the car battery and remote battery with OEM batteris will solve the issues with the car. They said there is no issue with the ABS sensors on wheels. Had there been some issue with the ABS sensors, the errors would not have disappeared on their own. They are providing Varta 380 A battery with 72 Ah. It will cost nearly Rs.13300.

I am attaching the screenshots of the VCDS scan.

I would like to listen to the opinion of members in this forum. Can I rely on the diagnosis they have made and go for the car battery replacement. Would this be solving the issue..

Kindly suggest.

Regards,
Sumesh
