Re: Review: Skoda Octavia (3rd-gen)

I got my 2018 Octavia serviced (7th annual maintenance) at PPS Skoda Oaklipuram, Bangalore last Saturday. The car is throwing ABS and ESC errors next day which never appeared before.
Brought the car back to service center and they ran the VCDS scan. It looks like there’s an issue with sensor on front left wheel and service advisor is saying that the sensor will need to be replaced at a cost of 4.5k INR plus labour.

Shouldn’t Skoda be replacing the part under a good will since it occurred immediately after the service and car has always been maintained by ASS? Or maybe offer a good will discount?

I asked these questions to Service Center and they will need to check it seems. For now they want to just clean the sensor and re-fix it.

Re: Review: Skoda Octavia (3rd-gen)

Update:

As I had requested, the Service Center replaced the part as a goodwill gesture. The SA mentioned he will be raising a claim with Skoda later. I really appreciate PPS Skoda for stepping up; usually something like this takes about two days for approval it seems, but they went ahead and replaced the sensor on the spot without any hassle.

There is not much of a drain pipe in this Octavia. Just clean the sunroof area with water and make sure its flowing out of the upper edge of the A pillar/ windscreen (yes, upper edge, right where the black area meets the A pillar)

About the crack, I'll check mine one of these days, probably by this weekend. Currently its resting under cover.

Hi, I recently purchased a 2015 Manual 2.0TDI and have been upgrading slightly as per my liking. One thing which I could not source easily( or atleast cheaper) was the infotainment system from the mk3.5 model. I came across your post with an image of the car interior having a modern big screen. Mind sharing the details if possible?

Re: Review: Skoda Octavia (3rd-gen)

Hi, I own a 2019 1.8 TSI, and recently it has been showing an error message “Transmission Error, You can continue to drive” almost every morning during the first start. The car drives fine through out the day though with no noticeable issues.

I recently sent it for service, and the diagnostic suggested replacing the Mechatronics unit. The estimated cost is around ₹2 lakhs. I'm now looking for suggestions if anyone faced this similar issue. Also, if you know of any reliable garages in Pune where I can get a second opinion and compare repair versus replacement options. Would really appreciate all expert advice here. Thanks.

I would suggest you to get it replaced soon and stop driving with a fault as it may snowball into multiple issues with a larger estimate. Many people have faced this issue and it’s common with this gearbox. I believe you have the option of getting the add on warranty, try getting it(warranty) from some other ASC where you haven’t got it checked yet. I got add on warranty for my Vento TSI DSG in Pune but it was refused in Delhi. Did you get it checked at Garve or Akoya? I know a person in Garve who usually gets things done quickly for my Superb there.

I know it is not ethical but start your car, try to get the fault codes cleared and then go back asking for a warranty. It will take longer but you may save a lot of money.

Demyto is a workshop where they will scan and share the report with you, they will also clear the fault codes. There are 2 workshops in Pune. However, they will not be able to rectify the issue.

Getting the mechatronics replaced from outside will only save you money if that’s a salvaged piece from a scrapped car otherwise the only savings would be labour cost as the unit itself is very expensive.

Let me know if you need contact details of Garve Skoda SA or Demyto manager.
