Thank you so much for those kind words
and yes you’re absolutely right, the octavia being discontinued is indeed a sad news for the enthusiasts, in a way I feel I’m lucky to own one and I hope to keep this beauty for a long time now. I got the car painted in Coimbatore, fetched me around ₹95000 on the whole. The paint finish is amazing and is just the same as the ‘magic black’ factory finish

Looks great. Black Octavia is dope. One suggestion is to upsize the wheels. It will look complete.
Honestly feel 16 inchers are too small for Octavia and doesn’t do justice to the stance.

thank you so much for the kind words and yes I totally agree with you, the 16” look small for a car of this size, I’m planning to go for 17” which would make the car more ‘complete’.

Taken before yesterday's catastrophic downpour in BLR.
1.8TSI + DSG continues to be fuel efficient as usual.

Re: Review: Skoda Octavia (3rd-gen)

Had a great drive to Ooty and beyond over last week. The car sailed over the expressways to Mysuru and then Gundlupet, swept through the hills and even clambered over a rocky stretch at the entrance of the resort without a hitch.

I managed to find the Mysore road at its best while going, and clocked a quick dash to Mysuru.

Re: Review: Skoda Octavia (3rd-gen)

I picked up a pre worshipped 2015 1.8 TSI from a bhpian friend in Dec 2021 and have clocked around 5000 kms.

The engine is a stonker. Feature wise, its pretty loaded. Upgraded from a Ecosport Ecoboost MT.

The joy of an AT is unparalleled however have to be really careful due to the extensive potholes in Crater Mumbai.

During the last spell of heavy rains, my headlights were fogged up a lot and my RHS DRL has stopped working and giving an error.
I have deactivated the DRL from the HU Lighting Menu however the left one does get switched on with the Headlights.

Apparently there is a DRL control module on the RHS which is placed near the front right wheel and is susceptible to water ingress which is what I think has conked off.
I am not sure if it’s worth replacing it as the DRLs don’t serve any purpose.

Is there a way to permanently disable the DRL??

Below is my 1.8 TSI

Thanks.

Cheers,
Raj

Re: Review: Skoda Octavia (3rd-gen)

This the fuel consumption reading I got recently, a whooping 18kmpl . This is the highest I have observed in almost 3 years of ownership. The previous best was 16.7kmpl

Mine is a 1.8TSI AT L&K

Meanwhile I broke my record too. Albeit in a different direction.

Wow, car is a looker. I keep saying this, Octavia badly needs an upsize of wheels. What wheels are they?
Need more pics

Re: Review: Skoda Octavia (3rd-gen)

Hey folks, looks like I am celebrating Christmas early this year.

But on a slightly serious note, the car decided it wanted to sing the song of it’s people out of the blue. Switched off the car and back on again with a 3 min rest in between and everything was back to normal. Drove back home and the parking sensors refused to work and the warnings came back again. Any help will be much appreciated.

All thanks to bhpian vvb8530 who had put those 17 inch TSWs. It gives the Octi a whole different look and perspective.

I haven’t taken too many pics since its my daily drive and it’s been a bit dirty due to the monsoon. Will be detailing it soon and post pics.

Cheers,

Raj

Ecosport had a bad habit of throwing up errors, especially the ABS thingy when the battery power gets low. Please check your battery voltage, if that helps.

Cheers,
Raj

Mostly it is ABS sensor gone kaput. ESC and ABS errors are mainly pointing towards that. It can throw multiple errors. If your car is out of warranty take it to a good FNG, run a diagnostics and get it fixed. Should cost only 3k per sensor. At Skoda they might change both sensor and wheel bearing.
