Agree with you on that , its quite a generous helping of chrome in the rear and while there is nothing wrong with chrome per-say i just find it a bit too much , maybe i am too used to the "subtle" design that the linea has had and cannot adjust to this new addition.

It would have so yes something we would need to live with , however do they still say that the seats have been re-designed a bit to make more space - what they had done in 2013 was to scoop out the front seats a bit thus allowing for a little more knee room.

It's very difficult because it's a poorly selling car. That's reason no. 1. Going by the law of averages, you are 17 times likelier to find a used Feb 2014 Honda City in the 2018 used market than a Linea (Feb 2014 sales, City = 7213, Linea = 420). I have seen a couple of T-Jets off & on (there is one currently in our classifieds). The lack of supply is the same as for any other flop car. You just have to dig harder and be more patient.

If you are using it for 5+ years, then depreciation is not much of a factor when compared with other cars as well.
Sorry, but that statement is pure rubbish. Don't know about you, but I would love an extra 1 - 1.5 lakhs at the end of 5 years. Am pretty sure it's the same for 99% of car owners. Who doesn't like extra $$$?

Will be putting up a detailed article with statistics to demolish this "5 years, resale doesn't matter" myth. Also, don't forget that it's much tougher to sell a flop model than a popular one. Time is also $$$.

Great review NKrishnap! The pics are stunning and attention to detail is fantastic.

I am a fan of the old Linea's styling but the new one kinda grows on one as well. It's good that they have done a bit for the interiors as well.

I drove a friend's TJet only once but the rush of adrenaline has stayed with me till this day. It's a MAD car and deserves better numbers. Hope Fiat gets their act together soon.

Re: The 2014 Fiat Linea Facelift - Test Drive & Review

Looks like i am the only odd man out here

The new Linea looks classy and i really liked it more than the older version. Previous one has older looks with that grill and this new one looks like it truly belongs to today's modern era of cars. I am not saying previous one was bad, but this looks more modern, superior for sure IMHO. Interiors are also looking very good & better than previous one. Pricing also spot on. Hope they will do better this time. Best of luck Fiat, good work done

*LIFTS JAW FROM THE FLOOR! GRINS! Oh! This is it! The 2014 Linea!*

Decides! Yes! This is gonna be my next ride! Yes! This is IT.

Methinks, the looks actually grow upon you.

Are the body decals a dealer fitted option? Methinks they look hideous. That said, I do like this car.

True! The HUGE chrome strip at the rear is a bit huge, a letdown.

But if I can digest the Ritz's rear, this one comes to me as particularly easy!

Better interiors too! @ Aniketi, you're not alone. The new version has a degree of sophistication, which the old one lacked.

The older one had grace, poise, the new one has all this + Sophistication.

I've read elsewhere that they are of Harman Kardon (YES!) make.

Actually they will. Indirectly. Think Jeep Cherokee, Jeep Wrangler.

Chrysler also might come in later.

Cheers!

The body decals were from the factory for the Auto expo. This one was the same car displayed at the expo. The production version do not get these decals or the foot well lights.

Harman Kardon is setting up base in Pune and currently thats about it, nothing is ready to go in to the car yet. Even the JBL claim is yet to be verified.

Re: The 2014 Fiat Linea Facelift - Test Drive & Review

Nice detailed review Krishna!

Overall New Linea looks great & adds to the beauty it already possessed, only gripe is lots of chrome especially in the rear...

One big disappointment is the absence of 1.6 MJD, come on Fiat, having such fantastic engines in the stable yet shying to bring it in... why???

Re: The 2014 Fiat Linea Facelift - Test Drive & Review

I feel its now that the linea has got a decent front face look. The new grill design seems quite like the older generation corolla.

The plastics seems inferior or is it because the test car had dirty interiors?

The test car interiors were dirty and did not have the PDI done yet. The quality of interior plastics is quite good and better than the out going model.

Nice review.
I liked the older ones exterior better. Maybe it's the use of excessive chrome in new one. However, interiors are nicely done. The main reason I didn't considered older Linea was due to its boring interiors. Foot well lights looks cool and I believe many people will get it as an accessory. Fiat should do something about upgrading the diesel engine if they wanna sell more cars.

I really like this new color. Looks really premium. Slap on the old grill, repaint it, voilą the best looking sedan under 10L.

Re: The 2014 Fiat Linea Facelift - Test Drive & Review

@nkrishnap: few questions on the new Blue and Me.

a) Does it support music playback from the mobile via the bluetooth after pairing. The earlier one never supported it and was such a pain to access folders for music playback from the driver side controls itself.

b) Is there any control on the main unit if USB mediaplayer is on. You had to use the steering mounted controls to change tracks.

c) Are there better audio controls in the new system like in the hyundais and fords.

If the above have not been addressed which are pretty simple and basic, what a shame FIAT

There are reports that Fiat is still not sure about the Jeep.
