Re: My Black Beast - 2014 Mitsubishi Pajero Sport

Hey Imran. I too am a newbie in the Pajero Sports club. Have posted my ownership review on TBHP as well. Must congratulate you, and thank you for your review - the faith you have in Mitsu was a good factor

Have fun!

Re: My Black Beast - 2014 Mitsubishi Pajero Sport

Greetings everyone
I apologize for the very delayed response. I have been regular on teambhp but just not had the time to update the thread.
So The Black Beast has completed 60,000 km now.

I am putting up some pictures of how she looks. It's been an amazing 2 and a half years and I dont think I'll ever let go of her (Touchwood).

My Original brake pads have lasted 52000 Km which is the maximum any car has given me. My Original Apollo Hawkz have lasted 60250 Km and my tyre fellow suggested they are good for another 5000km.
I have Shortlisted 3 tyres :-
1). Continental Cross AT's
2). Pirelli Scorpions
3). Michelin HT tyres
I dont want the tyres to affect mileage but I want better tyres then the Apollos.

Some good News There are two new Additions in the Garage :-
1). Ford Ecosport Titanium (O) in Feb 2015
2). Maruti Baleno Alpha in June 2016

You may also consider Michelin Cross. They are available in that size.

Congratulations on the new additions

It clearly speaks for your excellent driving skills Imran.

While a lot of people complain about pre mature brake pad wear in the Pajero Sport, you have used them till 52k km. Also, it is this kind of gentle driving because of which your tires have also lasted so long and continue to have usable tread on them.

Hats Off..!!!

What is the general FE you get from your vehicle in Chandigarh city and on the highway and at what speeds?

The dealers who are friends of ours were suggesting Michelin's too. Uncle personally drives a Montero and said he was very happy with the tyres. So maybe Michelin it will be.

I just have one concern. On my trip to Rishikesh I had a puncture and the puncture repair chap ruined the tyre by making the hole bigger and not being able to fix it. So that is in the stepney and my Brand new spare is on the rear left side. I hope this wont affect the suspension or something ?.

Thankyou so much for your kind wishes

Regards

Imran

That's so kind of you to say. I am extra gentle with her somehow.

The first 1000 km service I had. There was a Pajero Sport which had used up its brake pads in 7000 km and the guy was complaining of them not being good enough. So after that I was very skeptical but my vehicle proved me wrong. The service manager says that he has only seen 2 vehicles that crossed the 50k Mark with the brake pads. (touchwood)

The tyres have been through quite a bit though but I havent been very happy with them. Just skeptical because of one spare tyre having full tread and the other 3 with much lesser.

The Maximum I have got on my Sport is 13.8-13.9 If I am not wrong. The calculation is tankfull to tankfull method. Minimum was 8 km/l with hardcore offroading. I usually drive at 100 km/h on the highway and 60km/h in the city.

Let me ask you one simple question. How many times have your car seen off-road conditions in your ownership? Tyre size of Pajero Sport is similar to Fortuner and you have plenty of options in AT tyres to choose from. My recommendations would be
  • For 90:10 or 100:0 On:Off Road Driving: Pirelli Scorpion Verde/Bridgestone Ecopia EP850 (this is a new tyre, don't know how is the availability in CHD. Also not sure which Michelin HT you are mentioning, I haven't seen any official Michelin HT tyre being sold in Indian market recently!)
  • For 80:20 On:Off Road Driving: Michelin Latitude Cross/Pirelli Scorpion ATR (Can't go wrong with either)
  • For 60:40 On:Off Road Driving: Continental Cross Contact

Congrats again!
I've been on a few offroad excursions with friends. Maybe once a month on a Sunday or so. I go to my farm which is about 600-700 Meters of very bad Terrain and in the rainy season it's a lot of fun getting there ! Saying the least.

I think the 80:20 Suits me the most probably. I'll choose between the Michelin Latitude Cross and the Pirelli Scorpion ATR

Thankyou for all the help. Now I know what I've been missing for so much time not being very active on teambhp.

Regards

Imran

Do check Yoko Geolanders as well, I am running on my new Endeavour and will surely recommend for any 4x4 like yours. Do check prices with Monga Tyres - Ludhiana - they have a very large well organised setup and mostly there prices are lower than chandigarh dealers.

I've got Yoko's on my fortuner but I feel they're a little noisy on the highway plus don't want to buy two pairs of the same shoes for the cars. Haha

Can you give me their number ? I'll surely call them

Regards
Imran

PS: Hows the new Endeavour? It's a lovely looking vehicle

Re: My Black Beast - 2014 Mitsubishi Pajero Sport

Well it's been a Brilliant 3 Years of Ownership of the Blackbeast and now we've completed 70,500 Km. I can vouch for the car and say it's been an amazing 3 years (almost). The last service was done a week back at PMG automobiles Chandigarh.
The best part is I am still running on my stock Apollo's. Although I am not at all happy with the tyres but I guess regular Tyre Rotation and Balancing has made them last as long as they have. My Tyre shop fellow has recommended to me that they're good for another 10,000km which will bring their life to about 80,000 km which maybe a record of sorts.
The car has small issues such as the dashboard which comes loose when driven over rough patches ( The part that holds the music system ). Some bits of the colour on the steering which has started peeling off but I guess thats Natural. Also I wanted views on the engine flush that's recommended sometimes. I get it done at 20,000 km intervals and this time also A engine flush was recommended at the service which I got done. After which I feel the vehicle does not emit any dark smoke even when floored. I am waiting for her to touch 1,00,000 km soon. With all the additions to the garage it does take a little while more but I am sure she will touch the milestone in a year and a half or so.
I plan on going in for either the Conti's or Michellin Tyres at the change. I am pushing them a little more because even the tread markers haven't come up yet so we're good. Whenever I have the time I polish her up and its a treat to see her shining in all her glory. I'll attach a few pictures and let the pictures do the talking.
I've been wanting to add a cruise control for a little while and I guess I'll get that done. Any leads as to where and for how much I can get it done ? Also here the Fog get's a little tricky so thinking of getting some Fog Lights. Which are good ones and how much will they cost approximately.
On one of my recent trips to Delhi I got to small stone that made small spots on the windscreen. Are specialists such as windshield experts able to do something about them ?
Regards
Imran

Re: My Black Beast - 2014 Mitsubishi Pajero Sport

Heard rumours that the Outlander is launching next month with a dealer preview scheduled for the 22nd of this month.
Can anybody confirm this or give more details.
Rumours also suggest that it will come with a petrol + CNG engine which was quite difficult to believe.
Also, another facelift of the current gen PS is on the cards.
Next gen scheduled for late next year.
