Congratulations on purchasing the GT TSI. I am sure you are gonna add a lot of kilometers to your ride and enjoy each and every one of them. You've already crossed the 1300 km mark?? I've got a lotta catching up to do with the rest of the TSI's on this forum. I just touched 1401 km today after a year and a half of ownership.

Thanks chase_nt. I was hooked on to your reviews as well. I have crossed about 3,000 kms and I am just tempted to go on long drives just to be with the car.

Congratulations diffsoft! That's a sweet ride you got there! clap:

Read most of your thread sitting in office. Some life lessons learnt and an interesting perspective of each car's ownership. Hope the law of averages on VW doesn't catch up with you and you have a blissful ownership experience.

Even if you are not an enthusiast please get the Pete's remap done! Soon! You may want to upgrade to 205 section tyres as well

Need some more photos.please:

Enjoy and be safe!

P.S. These TSI threads a going to cost me a lot of money soon!

Can you please elaborate on these 2 points especially on what is the output post remap?

Thanks miharbe for your kind well wishes. Yeah there are life lessons learnt surely. One thing for sure - a big name does not mean better ethics!

No remaps / mods for me. I love what is on offer and let me sip it fully before I advance.

Nice review. Just curios, was the fronds pic taken near hanging bridge ?
When I saw it it appeared familiar. Safe million miles to you.

Thanks Thilak. You are right, it was taken near the hanging bridge. Great observation I must say. I hope to do millions unless the car gives up on me.

Hey mate,

Congrats on your new car. It's a beautiful car I must say.

I loved your review. It came straight from the heart and I enjoyed reading every bit of it. When it comes to cars (like most of the people) I also think from heart and as a result I also own a German. I must say that the German cars are very much addictive. VW is one of the most reliable German, only thing lacking is proper dealerships. My car is old and it now requires month by month attention, which I do with a teary eye but I feel it's well worth it.

The higher rpm during cold start is to warm the engine. It's a normal behavior. Read about it here and here.

Enjoy your ride. Cheers!

Thanks voyageur for your kinds words and the link. Many of these responses make me feel that it was well worth having spent my time to write a review. My cousins have VW Golf in the UK and it's 8 years old, but nearly impossible to make out its age.

Great engineering makes us fall in love - a feeling that it deserves to be owned.

Thanks for links - will go through them.

Excellent review and couldn't have come at a better time for me personally (I was evaluating between Ford Ecosport and Polo GT). Is there a link to Rohan's post on using DSG in stop and go traffic?

Thanks and all the best. Here's the link - http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/offici...ml#post3530956

Congratulations Diffsoft! Excellent write-up; You are humble to the core! :thumbs up

Polo has really grown-up, from the day it was launched:
  • New rear-seat head rest design, really helps vision.
  • Head lights have enhanced confidence.
  • Suspensions have improved; front does not nose-dive as much under hard braking.
  • Brakes them-self has more bite than before; May-be because of rear drum up-size.

One downside I have noticed is that, the rear split seats have been dis-continued; Not that it is used often - But still..

I am sure that you will love the car. Happy motoring!! Drive safe!!! :)

Thanks Chethan. My love for Polo started growing after reading your ownership reviews.

Your post reminds me of what Winston Churchill said of Clement Atlee, "A modest man, who has much to be modest about" :uncontrol

A lovely read, heartwarming too as it was not just about the technical specifications. Wish you happy driving. When I consider changing my second car, VW Polo would be a contender for sure. My first car would remain, for a couple of years at least, the Skoda Yeti. It's a pity your experience with Skoda was an awful one. Sometimes Sales staff do the exact opposite thing they are meant to, my experience with a brand or two is that the information is either incorrect or blatantly untrue. Reading posts at Team BHP balances the picture.

Thanks ramases6. Certainly the Indian market has given VW a lot to think about.

Great write mate ! 14kmpl on the highway looks decent to me. Could you give an idea of city mileage figures on normal petrol? I am also in the market for an automatic but getting turned off because of VW and Skoda dealer issues reported by other owners.

Abhjain - I drive at different times in the city and mostly when there's not much traffic. I get about 12.5 kmpl. If I happen to be in go-stop-go traffic I get 8.5 kmpl or so (as reported by the MID). I will do a tank-to-tank measurement and will report subsequently.

Diffsoft,
I have now read the thread about your experience with TAFE. I am very angry at what they did.I bought my Yeti from them and it was incident free, but had I read about your experience before the purchase, I would have chosen another dealer.Reputations and trust are built over time and must matter.

Hey diffsoft!! Thoroughly enjoyed reading it. "Heaven has no rage like love to hatred turned" is my fav :)

I still maintain that you got off the hook too easily!! Hope the Germans get to be in your good books for all the years ahead.

Dear Diffsoft,

Congratulations mate.

Really loved the way you have narrated the whole story. One line which caught my attention was " People buy Horse power, but drive torque" so true !!! All the best and drive safe. :-)

Truly worthy for 5 star rating.

Great post, mate.
Loved reading it, make me all the more excited to get my TSI.
I can't wait to start my own thread here as well.
You should get some of the paint protection treatments by 3M.
Wish you many happy miles ahead.

Dear diffsoft,

Just joined Team-BHP.I just drove the GT TSI yesterday. One of my colleague got the delivery. I have driven other Automatics before but never thought DSG would be such a beast.Much better than the CVT. Congrats for your new machine.

Congrats, Did you get any discount ?

(1) Boy oh boy, that first paragraph is spot on to how I see and think about a car. It is personal, a bond between man and machine. It is one of the reasons I simply can't share my car with my wife, no matter how good a driver she is.

....

(2) Fuel consumption can surely be better. As I have come to learn, turbo petrol's are highly sensitive to throttle input. You could have gone easy in D mode which would have surely favored fuel economy.

.....

(3) However, even a short stint in S mode is enough to take away all the economy you gained driving in D.
....Even better is to get in to tiptronic.

........

(4) Are you saying all the tires are losing air pressure? Don't think I missed anything with regard to the valve caps. I guess they come from Apollo itself.

.........

(5) I believe the double barrel headlamps sort out illumination issues. Never knew about the cornering lamps. Very thoughtful as a feature. I don't think my colleague knows about the existence of this on his Vento Tsi.

@Sandeep - thanks for the detailed response.

(1) Yeah I don't share it with my wife :); over time I will.....I hope. You know there are these small things that matter; like I always like to park my car straight, I want my wheels in line with the car after parking; the process by which we start and stop of the car and so forth.

(2) I have also found that the fuel consumption is extremely sensitive to the throttle; as made out by the MID fuel consumption. I am yet to find out what throttle behaviour maximises fuel consumption numbers. Will report as I do.

(3) I actually find the car is extremely comfortable in go-stop-go traffic. I haven't used the tip-tronic often as I find the response I get from the DSG in D good enough.

(4) Well, I am surprised why the valve caps need to be imported from Italy. I think the caps and the valve do a good job of holding pressure upto a week or so.

(5) The double barrel headlamps do a great job. It's an addition that makes a big difference to confidence in night driving. Makes me feel it should be a big weight to anyone considering a hatchback in the Polo segment.

No discount. I infact lost Rs 5000 in interest by waiting for a year and giving them a Rs 50,000 advance. When I brought that up, they just shrugged to imply that that's what it it :)

Yeah, I really love the drives - short or long. My daughter says the car puts me to sleep.

I just hope the car lasts long without any quirks!
