Due to the recent rains here in Bangalore the GT was very dirty and it was time to visit 3M for a wash.
Got the car washed @ 3M and then did the waxing at home.

This is how the front looks with the new grille

One of my friend is on a short trip to USA, planning to order the shark fin antenna and ask him to get it for me.

After the engine oil top up, the car is feeling a lot smoother then before. Also the jerk that I was experiencing while doing quick up shift has reduced a lot, I think once I cross 5k kms I think it should be gone.

On the mileage front, with one full tank of diesel i.e 38-40 Litres, I am able to drive close to 550 -600 kms with 60 % ac and all within city limits, now thats really not bad for car which can do 0-100 in pretty good time and is running on 205/55/15 tyres.

Also received a call from VW service Center to check how the car was running after I took the car to their service Center last week. That's really good sign from the service point of view. Looks like VW is putting some effort to get the service part sorted out.

Cheers

Time to swap the stock cabin light. It's an original VW part from VW Shanghai.

Thanks for the info. Is it possible for you to share how the modified horn sounds (in a short video clip or something)? I am also planning to make this change but thought it would be best if I know what it might sound like.

re: Flash Red VW Polo GT TDI - Little Beast EDIT: Sold!

Not able to keep the thread updated with regular updates due to work load.
Anyways, the car has clocked around 7k km till now and has been driven mostly within the city with a couple of short highway rides. Its a blast to drive the GT on the highways. I don't have words to describe the same. You need to drive it to feel it.

The car has been doing fine ( touch wood), but i wish VW would have provided a little taller 1st and the 2nd gears. They are too short but all that gets covered once you slot to the 3rd gear. Its a different ball game all together when the car is in 3rd gear .

Continuing with the mods, the car now runs on custom painted 16" wheel with VW centre cap . All the chrome logos are wrapped gloss black. The stock 15'' alloys shod with 205 ZLO have been retained for highways runs

The stock antena has been replaced with the shark fin antenna

The GT logo is back on the grill, but with a touch of red to keep the red & black color combo intact.

The cabin light also have been replaced.

Alloys look great on the car. What size tires are you using?

I too have got the shark fin antenna but have not got it fitted yet. Do you mind sharing where you got this done?

I fixed it on my own. Its pretty easy, follow the steps as listed in Ganesh's GT thread and you should be done.

Way to Go Supriyo bhai...Now she looks 'RED HOT' !!

Agree completely with your 'Highway Experience' bro, where at times I get ahead of myself and think I would have probably paid 12lks also for a hatch with such performance!!

I am not sure if the 1.5 GT TDi Gear Ratios have been tweaked by VW, but I never feel the 2nd gear is short bro. In fact, the first one feels a tad bit short but it really does work well for a quick getaway when it has to.

P.S - Bro on real honest suggestion is to remove too many stickers currently present on your stead. I think your idea of 'Black and Red' is smashing and IMO Cleaner the Sexier.

Fantastic is the word for your Bubbly Red Hot Polo. It's the fastest and the very best performance hatch. Did you upgrade the stock Head Unit? IMO Go for blaupunkt Philadelphia 835. Would provide maximum features including navigation.

One more update is required go for the headlight change and go for the head lights with projector beam and drl and its the hatch that everybody will envy.

Congrats on being a proud owner of Red Polo GT TDI.

Wish you a life full of happy dirving

Thanks Sunil.
I am still using the stock HU, as with upgraded speakers combined with an amp and sub, i am happy with sound quality.

Facing an strange issue with parking sensors.

When i slot the car into the reverse gear, i used to hear a click sound and then parking sensors used to come into picture, but now neither i hear that click sound nor the sensors are detecting an obstacle.

Now the strange part, but when i start the car in mornings or after keeping the car parked for a longtime, the parking sensors works just fine

I am going visit the service center to get it fixed, but wanted to know if anyone faced something like this and any pointer on the possible cause.

The car has clocked around 8.3k Kms till now and is running smooth.

Couple of weeks back got the 6 month / 7.5k Kms checkup done. As I had no issue to report, also i keep on checking the engine oil and top it up if needed, so it was mostly a general check. The bill for all these was Rs 46. Yes, you read it right rupess Fourty Six only.

I have no idea why VW needs to bill a customer Rs 46 for checkup/service.

The SA was laughing his heart out, when i told him that i will only pay Rs 46, if i get Rs 4 change back. And when i handed over a Rs 50 note, i made sure that i get Rs 4 back and not some candies .

Its always nice to have SA who understands a little bit of humour as it helps to build a good rapport.

Parting shot of my baby from the recent tbhp BR hills meet .

re: Flash Red VW Polo GT TDI - Little Beast EDIT: Sold!

This is one smoking hot looking car, and the more i read your thread the more I swing towards upgrading my ritz to a Polo GT TDI. I think Polo and Punto are the only 2 hatch that come with such broad tyres, right? But wish Punto had a better engine too. My concern with the Polo is that the suspension is a bit on the stiffer side, the roads in Mumbai are horrible and my ritz develops all kinds of squeecks and sounds and the visit to MASS fixes the issue. I dont want the Polo to start rattling withint few months of ownership. A few test drives over those bad roads should give some idea.

Stock comes with 185/60/15 tyres. I upsized to 205.

Don't worry about rattles, i am right now using 205/50/16 low profile tyres and no rattles what so ever. Bdw, 205/55/15 is perfect for this car.

re: Flash Red VW Polo GT TDI - Little Beast EDIT: Sold!

Hello Supriyo!

thanks to our meeting last week, i have connected with Naveen and booked the POLO GT TDI in red as well

Need a few suggestions and help:
1. Tyre upgrade: What to upgrade to for decent city and highway performance? Any impact on warranty?
2. Day 1 formalities? what else to get ?
3. Where to procure the anti-skid mats ?

Cheers
